Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Everything we needed and more! Having the well equipped kitchen and hot showers was a bonus when we woke up to rain. Friendly welcome from the lady at the desk and the dog! Lovely walk along the beach, bring your rod. We’ll definitely be back!!

Me and my family just finished a 3 night stay at Taieri Mouth Beach Holiday Camp ( fromJan 5th to Jan 8th just after the New Years rust) and I absolutely loved it. We hired their family cabin for $90 a night (probably a bit pricey but it was the holidays) . The cabin and camp is old and a bit rundown but that just enhanced it’s character. The camp had everything you would need and the staff were awesome. The beautiful beach is only a 3 minute walk away and if you are a fisherman like me the River mouth is another 10 minutes walk down the beach . The whole Taieri Mouth area and beach is peaceful and wonderful and fishing when it is on is awesome but not guaranteed and plenty of kaimoana around if you are prepared to get wet at least up to your waste . Beautiful Brighton beach is only 15 minutes away if you are looking for a good safe place for the family to swim. The Taier beach is beautiful but can be very windy and not much Shelter so not the ideal spot to sunbathe or relax on the beach but still a great place. If you are custom to creature comforts and like thing modern them this isn’t the place for you but if you like the rustic and laid back feel , this place is right for you. They only have two 2 people cabins and one family cabin and plenty of space for tents, caravans and campers.and pets welcome. I will differently be back. AAA+ for me.

We stayed here on our first night of our campervan holiday, it was also our first experience of a campsite. Like lots of the reviews the amenities were basic & although could probably do with an update, the location, cosy campsite & friendly staff made up for this. We arrived late so we took an evening walk on the beach which is a 2minute walk (you can hear the waves from the campsite!) & then got up early to watch the sunrise. It was probably our favourite campsite of our whole trip & location wise it was a good stop over on our way to the Catlins. We wish we had of had time to do the Taieri Mouth river walk.

This is a quirky little Motorcamp that reminds anyone who stays here what NZ Camping was like in decades past. Friendly staff and whilst being basic it has all the l amenities one needs .... however ......I found the " in your face" messages around the camp regarding 1080 poisonand the anti stance the camp owners take, very inappropriate. In today's times those messages are best kept away from being entangled with ones Business. I am one of those that would need never say anything at the time but best demonstrate my opinion by not staying here again.

Lovely little camp site, situated on the beach at Taieri Mouth. The facilities are a little basic, but they have everything that you need and the location outweighs anything else. The site was relatively quiet and we had no problem getting space to use the shared the cooking facilities. The beach is amazing, beautiful sand and surf with the island and river to provide extra interest.

Taieri Mouth Beach Holiday Camp was one of the few camps that I have stayed in that I felt completely secure and relaxed. Wonderfully friendly operators, wonderful location, simple and beautifully natural in it's presentation... Have already recommended to others... Will go back.

Located just a few moments walk from a stunning beach and the river mouth, it had all the amenities though they were a little over run with it being so busy. Great for a family to base there main camp for a summer holiday and spot on for backpackers traveling round. They were having water troubles at the time we visited and the water we were advised to use was a bit odd so we used the container we had in the camper for drinks. No drama really.

I grew up going on camping holidays with my family and have spent the last 5 Christmas/New Year holidays camping in a variety of different places in the south island with my husband. During childhood and the last 5 years we've stayed in a range of holiday parks and this is the second time we've stayed at the Taieri Mouth camp. It won't be the last time, that's for sure. I have to say that it's my kind of camping ground. It's relatively small and fairly basic - you won't find a range of activities for the children or a TV/games room (there is a TV but it doesn't work!) and it's been many years since the tennis court was operational. What you will find is a kitchen that is adequate for the size of the camp, lovely hot showers that I have never had to queue for, and as much space as you need for your tent/caravan - not tiny pitches (or even the more generous sized Top 10 pitches) marked out so that you daren't go over the lines. There's also a track to take you directly to the beach. The owners are wonderful and treat campers as people not dollar signs like they do in the big corporation camping grounds. They understand that things like the weather can impact your holiday plans and they don't expect you to pay in advance to secure your place, only to risk losing your money if the weather makes your plans change. This is refreshing after staying at so many of the big grounds where you pay in advance and that's it - if you decide to leave you also lose your money. Last time we came we only stayed for a couple of days, but this time we stayed a whole week and even without a million activities I found that I wasn't bored at all, I just love it here. In the spirit of full disclosure, my family did have a crib down the road when I was a child any my cousins used to stay at the camping ground every summer so I do have a history with Taieri Mouth and the camp. I'm pleased that it in many ways it's still the same as it was, as it was a cool place to go for a camping trip then and it still is now.

The facilities are very basic and could do with a good clean, but the people are lovely and the setting is stunning. Perfectly located for the hike up the Taieri River (well worth the 2hr walk). Okay for a night and it's cheap.
