Detailed Reviews
Both members of staff on reception were very friendly and helpful, giving us advice for driving on the Otago Peninsula and for our onward journey. We couldn't park outside our room but nearby outside other rooms on both evenings. The entry to our room (15) shared a door and entry hall with 16 which was upstairs. The room had a large lounge with a 2 seater leather sofa, table and huge TV on the wall. The small kitchen area had a table with 2 chairs, microwave, kettle, toaster, fridge and tea/coffee was provided; we were happy to receive a small bottle of fresh milk on arrival (something which happened in a lot of motels in the southern part of the South Island). There was an outside seating area which fronted onto the main road. The bathroom had a very effective heater (good for driving our damp motorbike gear) and a large shower with Eco-friendly single use toiletries. The bedroom had a double and a single bed, the double was comfy although as the room was the end room near the main road we did get some noise, mostly from pedestrians as they walked past. There are on site laundry facilities and they were left open later than usual for us to do our laundry which was much appreciated. This motel is competitively priced and we were very happy with our stay. The staff went out of their way when we noticed we had left a USB memory stick plugged into the TV, they even posted it to our last destination on the South Island without charging us.

The room we booked was great value for the money. There was plenty of room with a defined kitchen area with table and chairs and a separate space it’s a two seater sofa , tv and another small table and chairs. The bathroom area was huge with great water flow and hot water in the shower .The owner/ manager was friendly going out of his way to be helpful. Will stay again.

Chose this accommodation due to great reviews and price. Very friendly greeting at reception. Our room was so comfortable. A spacious lounge/dining/kitchen area. A private outdoor area with seating. All rooms are non smoking but outside area is available for smoking if required. A separate bedroom and sizeable bathroom. Staff very friendly. Loved being able to get filtered water. Was great to have a laundry at a reasonable price. Free parking. Loads of restaurants within walking distance. Thoroughly recommend a stay.

Booked this motel in Feb 2023 for the Pink concert. Booked through Booking.com and had all the confirmation about my booking as per usually. Two days before I go we get confirmation and reminding us about our booking for this motel from Booking.Com.
When we arrive on the day the Motel said we did not have a reservation with them. I told them it was through Booking.com and showed them all the booking numbers etc on my phone. They then stated that the Booking.com had not sent anything through. I then showed them the email I had sent via Booking.com about my time of arrival and the fact that the Motel had replied to that and said a 2pm-3pm arrive would be fine. They then denied sending this reply via Booking.com?
After a few strong words they then found a room for us that needed to be vacated by 8am because other people were checking in at 8.30 am. Really !
The motel then charged me the same for a substandard room rather than give me it at the correct price.
The room was musty smelling and the bathroom had mould and cobwebs in most corners.
The motel then whilst we were out parked their van behind my car which was not a problem because room was tight but the fact that I got a text at 2.30 am telling me the reason was not appreciated.
Overall thankful I was given a room but to blame Booking.com and not take the responsibility and lie to us is poor.
By the way the Motel apparently cancelled several other bookings the day before the Pink concert because they had over booked.

We are from christchurch and drove to Dunedin for almost 5 hrs, we book 2 weeks before the date we should check in, and they gave us booking confirmation number, after we arrive in their motel they said they are fully booked and they didn't receive the booking confirmation even we showed our booking confirmation to reception. they just told us just drive around the city maybe we will find a motel vacancy for 2 adults and 2 kids. so we ended up drive around the city for almost 2 hours to find a motel vacancy since its very hard and all fully booked because its school holiday, luckily one of the motel owner ( I forgot his name but he is really nice guy ) that we inquire, he ask my number and posted to their Dunedin Motel owners chat group and help us to get a night to stay.
Don't book here on this motel, me and my family have a terrible experience, not recommended.
and for the motel owner that help us. thank you so much

Wow this place has gone backwards.
Wish I’d looked at recent reviews before we came back here. It used to be so good.
We booked an upstairs spa studio - confirmed by email (wanted quiet) but were “upgraded to their nicest room” downstairs. Run down and dirty - even nasty cracks in toilet seat.
We were given 1 tiny towel between 2 of us (no bath towel either) so went to office but there were no more actual towels and were given what I’d describe as babies micro fibre blankets. No joke. Rooms are not serviced and you have to go to office daily for basic replacement items.
King size bed in lounge with queen size comforter.
We both felt itchy and had blocked noses and found the heat pump clogged with dust.
We definitely wouldn’t recommend and won’t go back.

We have stayed in this motel for over 5 years every year (except last year) and it's always been a great experience. However, a change of ownership and management is not favorable. Sure they have changed the beds, but they've also removed most of the cutlery and crockery and all cooling utensils. There were only 2 towels per unit. If there were more pax then you had to go to the office to get extra and thebath mats were ragged. I felt this was unnecessary as I had provided a complete rooming list including details of the number of people in each room. Not only by each detailed room bit also by Surname to make checking in easy

In terms of the motel it is functional with large rooms a kitchenette a spa bath and a useful laundry. However the area is student land. They kept me awake until 4am shouting and creating havoc in George Road and the area on the walk into town is full of smashed glass, debris and generally filthy. I m afraid Dunedin is a blot on NZ landscape.

Good location. Close drive to the city.
Big spacious rooms. Easy check in/ check out. Comfy bed. Spacious parking. Kitchenette had everything you need to cook.
Really loved the Netflix feature on tv !
Only problem was the shower. If you have a spa bath, be prepared to wait 2 hours for hot water to come back on if anyone plans to have a shower after. Other then that, we had a good stay. Will definitely recommend.

We’d definitely stay here again. The unit was roomy, light, airy, and clean with a very comfortable bed. Although we were right by the road, we heard next to no noise and slept very soundly both nights.
The spa bath in the spacious bathroom was a godsend. After walking back from a stadium concert in the pouring rain, we were able to enjoy a nice hot, reviving soak.
Although we had a vehicle we didn’t need to use it. The Motel is located an easy walk both from the Forsyth Barr Stadium snd Octagon with it’s theatre, movie theatre, shopping and eateries.
We’d definitely choose Asure Regal Court again.
