We stayed for a couple of nights in a luxury executive studio and we wished we could've stayed longer. Outlook over the garden was so peaceful and lack of loud traffic noise great.
The studio was spacious, spotless and couch was great to snuggle on at the end of the day and the bed was devine to sleep in!
The two cookies on arrival was a nice touch, as was the sustainable wee mini milk bottle you get upon arrival.
Adrienbe was a lovely, friendly host and one of the highlights was Cinder the cat following us up to our room on the second night, including a trip in the lift with us, and then spending half an hour telling us all the gossip from around the place in our bedroom 🤣

The studio room had some great facilities, including a great toaster, an invector microwave and a spa bath.
The motion-sensing nite-light in the bathroom was a good idea to not blast your eyes in the middle of the night with a bright light if you needed to go to the bathroom, the AC was just the ticket for the very warm December nights we were there...honestly, just everything was so good.

We will most definitely be back.

Hopefully next time, we'll meet Tax the Jack Russell too! 😊

Aaahhhh! We are just so pleased that you came and stayed with us and had a great time. I'll be sure to let Cinder know that she was a highlight and that her conversation was exceptional. She is curled up under the reception desk as I type - she must have spent another night gossiping! Just ask for Tax to check you in next visit! He is a treat - and a Cavoodle rather than a high energy Jack Russell (hehe). You just made my day!

Extremely clean hotel, with awesome hosts who went out of their to accommodate our 2 families. The one bedroom unit we were in had everything we needed, was serviced daily and the bed was very confy. Central location & easy walk to shops.
I highly recommend this place and will return.

Firstly let me start of by saying the owners of this place are amazing. Really friendly service and greet you with a smile. As for the rooms they are just as exceptional. Large spacious rooms with a mini kitchen area. The thing that got me is that this place has heated floors in the bathroom. I've never been anywhere which has this and my gosh was I amazed ! I'd stay here again just for that alone!!! Water Pressure gets an A++++ as well. There's nothing better than a hotel which has some decent water pressure.

Location wise this is a short stroll to the city center (5 - 7 mins) and is extremely quiet at all hours of the day. The building is configured in a square shape with all rooms facing a central courtyard area which is quite a nice place to have a morning coffee with tables and chair scattered around.

Highly recommend staying here if you don't mind being slightly out of the city center and the warm cozy feeling this hotel provides makes your stay feel more like a home than a cookie cutter hotel.

We have stayed in a few motels in Dunedin over the years, but since discovering the Aurora on George, we don’t want to stay anywhere else. The units are so quiet, even though it is on the Main Street, there is absolutely no traffic noise. The units are spotlessly maintained, tastefully decorated, well equipped and the beds soooo comfortable. There is a very nice garden, with comfortable furniture, beautiful trees, allowing for sunshine and shade. Chris and Adrienne are excellent hosts, always friendly and helpful.

Very nice motel.
It is more expensive than most but they have done nice extras of home cooked biscuits, underfloor heating, robes and slippers in the wardrobes, and really beautiful bed toppers.
Suite was very clean and even had a oven which would be great if you didn’t want to go out. Room was a good comfortable size with heat pump so certainly not cold.
Great location and even a Thai restaurant attached at the front for convenience which has excellent food. Night and Day also across the road for any extras.

My wife was giving birth at Queen Mary hospital and because she was sharing a room with other new mothers ; I needed to find a motel for the night. Because it was a special occasion I decided to find somewhere abit modern. (she didn't end up having the baby that day)

I came across this beautiful place. I was greeted by Chris, a very polite and welcoming host. I was expecting it to be very expensive but I was pleasantly surprised at the price I was told.

I got room 5 which is a studio room with a super comfy king bed, kitchenette and awesome bathroom with a shower which had incredible water pressure! The only thing that I annoyed me was the noisy extraction fan. This is an honest review so has to be said. Not a big deal but could be good if that was addressed at some point.

My wife ended up having the baby the following morning so I had to stay in Dunedin one more night. This time my mother came down along with my six year old daughter and four year old son to meet our newest daughter.

I drove back to Aurora and was again greeted by Chris. I explained the situation and he offered me a two bedroom studio apartment which was absolutely stunning! Room 27 to be exact! No noisy extraction fan I must add! A king bed in each room, modern lounge and kitchen with plenty of room! Tastefully decorated in the awesome colour scheme throughout all the motel rooms.

The following morning I dropped the keys to Chris at reception and he congratulated me on my new daughter and I left feeling good about life.

I highly recommend this place and will be our place to call home each time we stay in Dunedin in the future.

Thanks heaps team,

Shivneil.

It is the second time I have stayed here to visit my daughter who is studying and it is our go to place now. This time around I had to bring a very large 21st cake down from
Wellington on a plane and the staff here were so helpful and accommodating.
All of my friends and family stayed here as well and thoroughly enjoyed it.
It is a wonderful luxurious hotel, close to the city, we loved the yummy restaurant and the kids liked exploring the gardens. We always stay in the premier 2 bedroom suites because its luxurious and big for our family to relax in and when we have visitors.

We stayed here for 4 nights as a family of 4 (2 teenagers). We stayed in the 2 bedroom suite. It was spacious, warm and cosy. We were impressed with the comfortable beds and the shower is fantastic. The staff were friendly and helpful and we were happy to see the commitment to the enviroment. The gardens in the middle of the complex are beautiful and unique. There is a restaurant and cafe in the complex but the Aurora is within walking distance of the north end of the CBD that has some cheap but good eating places. We would happily stay here again.

WOW! A really lovely, quiet and clean motel. We loved our stay here. We had a 2 bedroom room and it was incredibly clean, really quiet and nicely appointed room. The beds were so comfortable, the pillows soft and fluffy and there were good quality sheets on the beds. The room had a small kitchenette which was well kitted out, cable TV, a small dining table and a heated bathroom floor which was nice to step on after a shower. The staff member at reception was friendly and there was plenty of parking onsite. The gardens were beautiful and well taken care of. Will definitely stay again when in the area.

Check in was wonderful, Kent was super welcoming and walked me around the property to point everything out. The welcome pack in the room was very thorough and left me with no questions. I got some change from reception to use the laundry, it's $3 per wash and $3 per dry. All up it took just over an hour and I had lovely fresh dry clothes again. I stayed in the Studio Garden room, which also had an iron and ironing board in the room.

The room was really nice and was super clean, the bed was comfortable and warm, they have heated floors in the bathroom which was a nice touch and I imagine very much welcomed in Winter! There was a small kitchenette with a fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster and cutlery/crockery.

Unfortunately I had stompy upstairs neighbours and I could also hear the TV in a neighbouring room so that disrupted my trying to get an early night - not much you can do about that in a city motel though. I always travel with noise-masking ear buds for sleep, just in case, and I needed to use them both nights - just to get off to sleep.

For the most part though it's a very peaceful and quiet motel, the gardens are lovely.

Most things you need are an easy walking distance away, I drove down to the salt water pools at St Clair which was about a 15 minute drive, and the Otago Peninsula is not far away at all, depending which way you go and how many stops you make along the way - about 40 minutes drive to the Royal Albatross Centre.

Parking was good however quite tight with a full house.

The home made biscuits were a nice touch and absolutely delicious! I also went to their recommended cafe for breakfast, The Good Earth, which is less than 5 mins walk and was fantastic.
