Well that's a first!!! No teaspoons. Tea making facilities but no teaspoons. And, 2 cups, 3 saucers, 1 glass. TV volume is limited to 16 so you can't watch sky movies classics as UT is too quiet. Roo. It is s very dated. TV cabinet door falling off. Not good at all.

The good things: sunny, relatively spacious, walking distance to town if you can cope with slopes, a view (only visible while standing - opaque balcony glass), mattress comfy enough, most staff friendly & helpful. Despite being a Millennium hotel the building is OLD, TIRED & looks like it needs earthquake strengthening. Is it actually OK? Balcony railing felt loose! Some furniture grimy, armchairs really need recovering! Desk lamp covered in dust. Carpet corners not vacumned, interior stucco wall had cobwebs stuck to it. Rooms not serviced daily due to ‘contactless’ servicing; had to put things in the hallway if they needed cleaning. One day mugs not replaced; when we rang reception they didn’t have any ‘spare’ mugs & brought tea-cups. Occasional noise: snippets of conversation could sometimes be heard clearly from unknown location.
Cigarette smoke from another balcony wafted into our room - yuk - just make the whole place non-smoking! Fridge stopped working (maybe wasn't working when we first put the food in), after we asked for repair we later realised - because it froze our food overnight - that it had just been turned up to 7 on the dial. Disappointing having to throw out food.. Cold plastic bedding: Dacron & 'fleece'. Hard pillow. Shower over bath OK. Bathroom steams up a lot - noisy weak fan. $158 a night pretty expensive for all this. Millennium CEO & Managers should stay a few nights to see how it is.

The Kingsgate needs an overhaul…Furnishings are old and grubby, the room smells musty, the cleaners haven’t cleaned the bottom of the bath in a very longtime…The bed was smelly like the bedding hadn’t been changed from the last person/people….

Stayed last weekend and the price for a standard queen was $515 for 2 nights. Generally you would be charged around $268. price gouging at it best. The staff were very helpful, it is not their fault the greedy chain puts all the prices up for orientation weekend. I have stayed here previously and had a fair prices, this one was over the top. Good location but not much parking.

The kingsgate was great for the price ($112.00) however the place is definitely old and in need of a major facelift - The bed was really comfy and the room size was actually really good, the balcony was a nice touch but too small to actually sit out on. the TV had a good range of options and over all the main room felt very clean and well maintained - No central light in the room which is a bit odd, and the ceiling gave it a major dated 80's office converted into hotel vibe. The small glass shelf in the bathroom was a bit on the dirty side, it was covered in dust and had a hair on it - However I made the front desk aware and they cleaned this while out at dinner. The bathroom in general felt incredibly dated, the shower was pretty splashy and the bath quite small. No ceiling in the bathroom just a noisy fan. I ended up opting to pay for a car park as the car park for the building was tiny and first come first served which I didn't want to risk, I highly recommend opting to pay for your own car park if one is available (They are limited) Over all I would stay again for the price but would not recommend paying more than around $120 a night (If you are a millennium club member you get cheaper rates) and I would definitely pay for my own car park.
