The accommodation is wonderful here and so central. We walked to the train station, cinema, grocery store etc with no problems. We had apartment 6 which was large and spacious with a well equipped kitchen. We will definitely stay here again when visiting Dunedin.
While it looks great on paper, our experience has been of poor maintenance, poor service, and extremely poor attitude. We spent two nights in apartment nr 2, despite what was advertised we had not Internet connection. The manager dealt with the issue in an extremely unpleasant way, first saying they were working on it, then hanging up on us, then promising a discount, but never giving it, bombarding us with calls, texts and emails for a while, and ultimately not fixing the issue anyway. No surprise as the problem is not the network quality in Dunedin, but the church stone walls that are too thick for the signal to go through. Overall, you could see that the place was great five years ago, but has been poorly maintained, the paint was pealing from the walls on the first floor,…
Arrived at Chapel apartments to find our name on board with note Key was in door. Fantastically central city position. Cosy & clean. Well appointed. As it was 25th April easy walk to Dawn Parade. Comfortable bed & pillows. Overall we felt it was a great choice.
It was great to spend our time in Dunedin lodged in this interestingly adapted church, with nicely furnished wide apartments. Our keys were at the door when we arrived, so no check-in problems at all. We had requested for a parking space and they agreed, but we didn't have. Fortunately we could park nearby.
The Chapel Apartments are close to Dunedin’s city heart and hence very close to good restaurants, cinemas and shops. They are unusually configured, being various sections of an old chapel. We had Apt 3 which has a car park right outside the door and a spacious kitchen/sitting room with a good wide screen TV. There is a dishwasher and separate washer and dryer. However, the bedroom and bathroom are on a mezzanine which is accessed by a steep spiral staircase which is difficult to use if you are elderly or have a knee problem! The bathroom is lovely, but the bed is in a confined space and only accessible from one side or the end. I would suggest checking the room layout before you book. However, we enjoyed the convenience to city facilities.
