Detailed Reviews
PROS: The setting of these cabins and campground is lovely, being in a green area right next to a walking track with access to Dunedin's green belt (for running, walking, biking). It is also close to both the botanical gardens and town (about a 30min walk away).
CONS: The Lockwood-style cabins have no wall insulation, meaning you hear EVERYTHING from next door. They all appear to be in dire need of refurbishment, with the carpets being worn and stained, and the 2-person settee being so covered with marks that it is not an attractive option to sit on. The bathroom and kitchenette are adequate, but small enough that you wouldn't want to spend too much time there, while the 'lounge/dining area is also pretty small and unfunctional (with the couch being placed underneath the wall-mounted tv). Even the Wifi had an intermittent connection at night, and the tv box needed resetting a couple of times to activate the service.
I would hesitate to recommend the cabins to anyone wanting a quality stay.

We stayed in a motel unit for just over a week while needing to be in Dunedin for a family emergency and the whole staff, especially the manager, were amazing. So friendly and accomodating and went above and beyond to help us have a good stay. Would happily stay here again. Highly recommend

Stayed for 3 nights in August in a powered campervan site. It is quite a nice campground. The facilities were a bit dated, and the common room was absolutely freezing. The location is about a 15 minute bus ride away from the city centre. There are a few nice little walks very close by.

Arrived, checked in, the room hadn't been cleaned properly, there was rubbish left in the bin and the towel rail in the bathroom was broken and hanging off the wall. Had booked a room with a separate bedroom but was downgraded to a studio where we needed two beds. Was told to use the sofa bed which when we set it up at 11 pm found the bed had springs missing making it unusable as a bed. Had to sleep on the floor. The room was dusty causing allergies to set off.
The next morning I explained this to the woman at the office and asked for some sort of compensation to which I was told she would offer me a free night, but there would be no refund or part refund! She said I should have told her when I found the sofa bed was like that even though it was 11pm the night before.
This is totally unacceptable for the $140 we paid for so even though this was my second time staying at this place, I will not be coming back again. Unacceptable behaviour!
Warning to anyone staying at this place to check the room before you pay anything.

Came from australia took family to Dunedin for a few days. A camp site was 100.00 per night. We could not plug into the power as they have a special power point. When I asked if they had an attachment they said no and said I should have known I needed one. I went to 3 hardware and camp shops no one knew about the attachments so we had no power. Campground very small very basic facilities and outdated. Staff gave very vague unhelpful directions to the glow worm caves so we never did find them. Staff in fact were quite rude most of the time and could not be bothered to assist. Found the stay very unappealing. They have pay only pool $2 A game and a toy vending machine which is also $2 A go. Playground very basic a seesaw and worn out mini type trampoline. Would never stay with them again.

Small campsite 3 kms from the Octagon, . Peaceful place, closr yo greenery, a little tired but good facilities. The person on reception just about mustered enough enthusiasm to check us in but all other staff we came across were friendly and helpful. If you fancy a night away from downtown Dunedin, 20 mins walk away is The Inch Bar; a cozy little place that sells draft beers and, occasionally, puts on live music.

This is a nice site with all the facilities you would need. It states it is only short distance from the main road into the city which is correct, but it doesn't add it is then about 15 minutes ride on a bus down that main road to get to the town centre! The public transport is very convenient - 2-minute walk to a bus stop for a service that runs about every 30 minutes.
The site is nicely laid out and not too big.

Stayed here overnight in a small cabin, very cheap and all I needed while my wife had an overnight stay at Mercy Hospital. Very clean, amenities very good! May be back in the camper.
Thanks guys, would of thanked you personally but had to leave early.

Well establish campground with great amenities and a very welcoming receptionist. Studio was well equipped and had a very comfy bed. You are spoilt with choices for walking tracks though the Leigh Valley starting right at the door step. Its just a very short drive into town or if you fancy you could walk or bike. Only three things which, in my opinion, could see some improvements: the playground looked a bit tired; warming up the room with a small radiator might get a bit challenging during the colder days/nights, having some thin curtains to obscure the view into the cabin to allow some privacy. But in all I thoroughly enjoyed my stay, thank you.

Nice park with laundry, well equipped kitchen, and clean bathrooms. We were in unpowered site with small campervan. Reservation system worked fine, and check in was easy. Only complaint would be that for this price, why charge extra for billiards?
