Detailed Reviews
Booked for 5 nights and have zero regrets - would definetely stay again.
My room in this character building was warm, lush, and tastefully decorated.
All the guests seemed happy and friendly and the building somehow delivered on that impossible balance between warm and well ventilated.
The staff were attentive, eager to please, and their passion and attention to detail was evident in every aspect of my stay from the breakfast display through to the well maintained laundry facilities.
The free breakfast left nothing to be desired; cereals, fruits, juices, toasts, tea/coffees, mueslis, blueberries, peaches, chocolates, muffins etc.
The central location was perfect for my needs.
I cannot recommend highly enough.

Stayed for 2 nights at the guesthouse and hence comes with breakfast. We are able to park within the premise and there is a self serviced laundry at the self serviced units bldg - $4 for washing machine and $4 for dryer. There are 2 washers and 2 dryers and there’s an ironing board and iron within the laundry room.
Breakfast are the same on both days, cereals and bread (with toaster), and muffins for us to take. On each table are an assortment of butter/margarine/peanut butter/honey/jams.
Room is spacious (we can hear the road traffic since it is facing the road). We are fine as we get that at our hse back home. As it is an old house, hot water need some time to come in.

Such an amazing experience staying at Sahara guest house! The new owners are the most kind and caring hosts I've ever come across. With my partner in hospital, I stayed here alone over Christmas and I was made to feel incredibly welcome and part of the family. I was even invited for Christmas Lunch and it was delicious!
Without staying here, my time in Dunedin would not have been so lovely. My unfortunate situation turned into a wonderful experience, all because of Mike and Julie, and of course Otto the puppy. Can't thank you all enough for rescuing my Christmas!
The house has been beautifully refurbished and bought up to date while maintaining the character of the building. Everything is super clean and comfortable with nice homey touches throughout. They've done a fabulous job!
The guest house is in the centre of Dunedin but on a quiet street, just a couple of minutes walk from the hospital and nightlife. There's parking, tea, coffee, breakfast, Netflix, fluffy towels, a puppy and friendly hosts. If you find yourself in Dunedin in need of a restful night sleep and some great hospitality, you must stay here!

A hidden gem that isn’ truly replicated in the photos. This guest lodge house has been tastefully refurbished adding to its character.
Rooms had an inviting and calm atmosphere including a comfortable bathroom & TV.
Breakfast in the quaint dining room came with freshly baked muffins, an assortment of cereals fresh fruits & drinks. There is also a cosy lounge, microwave, fridge tea & coffee.
Location is great. Families can choose the motel units behind which come with kitchen etc amenities.
Hosts friendly & helpful so no problem to stay if your travelling alone.
Thank you so much our stay was totally charming.

Stayed in the motel. Room had everything we needed and with the recent renovations in 2021 (paint, new blinds, updated bathrooms) it felt new and modern and was very clean. Staff were friendly and approachable which just added to the experience. Loved the addition of the charging ports on one of the sockets.

There is the motel and the guesthouse, with breakfast included. We slept at the guesthouse for two nights. It's an old building and therefor quite noisy. So you have to be lucky with other guests. If there are small(er) children you are screwed. Breakfast is included but if you love the hot stuff you will be dissapointed. Capacity in the breakfast area is not ok. People are forced to share a table or can't sit at all. One well meant suggestion for the owners: do not facilitate a room just metres from the entrance and right across the reception and breakfast area. That is just no place to accommodate guests. So for everybody who considers booking, you don't want to stay in room nr.7.

Stayed in the guesthouse here. What a delightful experience. My room was lovely and the whole place was clean warm and inviting. A wee surprise I had was breakfast was free...a added bonus...I didn't know about that. A five minute walk into town if you're here for a concert Forsythe Barr is down the road about 10mins away. Definitely stay here again

This is an excellent guest home.
It is immaculately clean, which is
terrific.
There are several room options.
Some exceedingly spartan, just a bed
and a sink.
Some have their own shower and
toilet.
Breakfast is cereal, yogurt, fresh fruit, and several types of bread. Also,
cupcakes and juice. Nothing hot,
but perfectly adequate.
They have a laundry room, with
2 washers and 2 dryers.
The hotel is very well-managed.
There is very limited seating in the
breakfast room, so that can be an
issue.
Check out time is 10 AM.
The property is a 15-20 minute walk
to everything - the town center,
supermarkets, the splendid
botanical gardens, etc.
If i were to return to Dunedin I would
stay here.

Very friendly new owners who were extremely accommodating.
Clean rooms and clean amenities, close to city centre.
Nice breakfast available if required.
Definately recommend if you want a relaxing stay.
Students around the vicinity can be a little noisy but nothing outrageous
