Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

The location of the Best Western is convenient. It's just outside of the central part of the city and avoids the inevitable traffic. It's at the gateway to the Otago Peninsula. And it's not far from St. Clair Beach and the Esplanade.

The motel room was well-maintained.

If you're traveling during the colder months, be aware that the built-in heater is not strong enough to warm the room. Be prepared to sleep with the bed's heating pads on. This is common in many New Zealand accomodations, and shouldn't be seen as criticism.

Positively brilliant. We arrived at Best Western wrung out from a long day on the road. Not being able to deal with stairs to our booked room we asked for a change and easier than waving a magic wand we were accommodated. Huge thanks. The icing on the cake was the care and kindness shown by our host during our all to brief stay. It was the lift we needed as out South Island adventure was drawing to a close. We would stay nowhere else in Dunedin.

Where did all the 5 stars come from? Were you all stayin somewhere else?
We booked a family room and the configuration was off... right off. Instead of two bedrooms it was a single bedroom and a big queen bed in the lounge. At the foot of the bed was a couch that the fake leather had lifted on and the kitchen consisted of a sink and a microwave in this same room. Nothing matched. Nothing. And there wasn’t going to be no food prep either unless it came in one of those little biddy heat and eat containers with forks included.
The location was not great - it was 15 minutes out of the city but still on a main highway and along with no sound proofing There was no air conditioning.
Sheets were clean and crisp, rooms were very clean.

We had a large group stay here for a massive family reunion. We were so impressed with the place. The staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. The rooms were excellent - clean, quiet, everything you need, and the most comfortable beds I have slept on! We also used the conference room during our stay, which was a brilliant place to get together as a large group. We had a car, but others in our group didn't, and found it easy to walk to places or use uber. The supermarket over the road was great, and there were so many different fast food places within easy walking distance if you preferred that. Would highly recommend.

Fist night at the hotel was by choice, and we got stuck because of the rain and needed a place to stay. Justin jumped to the rescue and gave us back our rooms in a rainy day, literally.
He has great knowledge of the area, and his recommendations for restaurants, hikes and drives were superb.
The hotel was clean, plenty of parking, within a walking distance to grocery store, and few restaurants.
Highly recommend staying there, and enjoy the chat with Justin.

We stayed here for 5 nights while our son was playing basketball for Nationals at the Edgar Centre, which is only a 7 minute walk.
We arrived to cheerful friendly staff who made our stay so enjoyable including the lovely cleaners.
Location is perfect with supermarket and shops nearby.
Our room was spacious and had everything we needed, Although on a main road the sound proofing was great.
Rooms were clean and modern and beds were cosy and comfortable. We could have stayed on!
Will definitely be back when in Dunedin.

A great location with supermarket across the road. Host Justin very welcoming, helpful and most considerate. Room staff were quiet, polite and obliging, bed very comfortable and room clean and tidy. Parking area was spacious and being able to hire the conference room was a huge bonus, a perfect setup and great layout for our family function.
unction.

One our best motel experiences. Clean, friendly and incredibly helpful staff who just went that extra mile to ensure we had a comfortable stay at a difficult time as we were in town unexpectedly for my brothers funeral. Our adjoining rooms were ideal for us with our 14 and 10 year old children. The location was great, everything was convenient. Close to the beach, supermarkets, petrol stations, shops, fast food and a short drive to the city. Thank you for making our stay at a difficult time so lovely. We will definitely be back. The Taylors.
