My wife and I stayed here for two nights in May. The room was clean and warm and looked just like the photo.
Car parking is at the bottom of the street (except for disabled which is on site) and the street is very steep (otherwise it wouldn't be the steepest residential street in the world!). It's not a long walk, just 4 houses so not sure why reviewers are complaining.
We were given our own key and could come and go as we pleased.
Breakfast was basic and I guess more food could have been provided but rates are reasonable so I'm not complaining!
Good accommodation with friendly and helpful owner so I would recommend this as a great place to stay - thankyou.

Information about staying here very misleading and needs clarification.
Property - TOP of the hill, free parking - BOTTOM of the hill, no parking on site.
Futon - thin mattress on the floor, which is not a futon
Advertised as 2 bedrooms with individual lounges / tv, actually a 2 bedroom apartment, with each bedroom rented separately, and all communal areas are shared - including lounge, kitchen and the bathroom / toilet.
So, if you only rent 1 bedroom, for 4 of you, you could potentially share the apartment and bathroom / toilet with strangers and your family sleep on the mattress, which is definitely not a futon, on the floor in the same bedroom.
The wi if code is excessively long, over 15, we just gave up!!!!
None of this above is made clear in the advert, please read it carefully.

Kia ora! Thank you for your review. I hope you are enjoying the fact that you can now tell your friends and family that you not only have been to, but have SLEPT ON, the steepest street in the world! The following is in response to your points raised: 1. We have a loading zone on-site and a permanent parking spot for guests with disabilities. Free off-site public parking is nearby, both at the top and bottom of Baldwin St. 2. Our single room units with private en-suites include a queen bed and a sofabed/futon. Our upstairs 2 bedroom apartment has a queen bed in each bedroom and 2 futons in the lounge. There are also 2 single folding beds in the closet. There is plenty of extra bedding available in the walk-in closet. Please note: The 2 bedroom apartment is NOT a shared space. Therefore, if there are 4 of you as you say, you will enjoy the 2 bedroom apartment to yourselves in complete privacy. Wishing you the best, Ashkon Manager Baldwin St BnB M 0226156115

A unique place to stay on the steepest street in the world. However this does mean you have to park at the bottom of the hill and walk up - this was made clear to us, it just is a bit of a trek. We had both rooms so had plenty of space and the amenities are great. There is quite a lot of noise from the family upstairs in the evenings and mornings (fine for us as we also had children who were up and about early). Quite a way out of Dunedin but several shops and takeaways nearby. Our rooms weren't ready when we arrived and we didn't get to check in until 6.15pm.

Lucky you had kids too so it all worked out. However, for future reference please call or message me on the mobile phone number provided for any noise issues so I can sort it out when other guests are being too noisy. 3. Actually, our BnB is only a 15-20 minute stroll to town and about a -30 minute walk to the Octagon the heart of town. By car town is less than 5 minutes away. 4. I apologize your rooms were not ready in time. We now have professional cleaners where it is all tick-tock. I am pleased you enjoyed your stay. Wishing you the best,

It was lovely to wake up and look out at the view. We arrived late the night before but the owners let us In and the room was well prepared. The street was quite an experience and walking to the top in the evenings and viewing the mural they have there was a highlight. All in all a pleasant trip.

A great place to stay. Aside form the great novelty value of sleeping on the world's steepest street this is a great house - loads of space, comfortable beds, clean and modern. Lovely balcony areas as well. It was great to watch all the tourists walk up the steepest street from the windows. Really enjoyed this stay with responsive host.

Only parking available was at bottom of steepest street in the world. Except that there were about 5 cars parked in an area big enough for 2 - owners? Breakfast provided consisted of 3 very small jars of cut price cereal, 4 eggs, bread that expired on the day we arrived and a couple of open, used jars of jam. This to feed 8 people from 2 rooms! When told there'd be 4 people staying in our room - no extra pillows. No toiletries at all. Worse facilities and service than any back packers I've ever stayed in. Avoid this place like the plague!

The following is in response to your points raised: 1. We have a loading zone on-site and a permanent parking spot for guests with disabilities. Free public parking is off-site only 4 houses down from the BnB. This is clearly outlined in all of our listings online. 2. We are proud to have a large range of breakfast foods to choose from! From eggs, tomatoes, onions/garlic for omelettes, to quality breads and spreads, pancake mix and syrup, rice and sauces for asian breakfast etc. 3. We provide free toiletries they are all kept in your private bathroom. I am surprised you did not find them. 4. We have heaps of extra bedding kept in your closet. 5. Our facilities are better than most hotels! Just look at the pictures and look at the other reviews we have on other sites. We received 8.2 out of 10 on Booking.com last year with over 150 reviews. This BnB is a modern and comfortable and quite an expensive home. It is luxurious compared to most other places. 6. We no longer accept 4 people per single bedroom with ensuite. This was meant for 2 adults and 2 young children MAX, not 4 adults... We have since changed our policy to have only 3 people per room to avoid situations such as yours where 4 adults book only 1 bedroom. We have since enjoyed no other bookings where 4 adults intend to sleep inside a bedroom designed for 2 adults and 2 young children max. Wishing you the best,

Our family of four was thrilled when we saw the size and quality of this place. We booked it as a stop over on a road trip and couldn’t believe how good it was. Fully equipped kitchen, large bathrooms and bedrooms. Well heated and clean.

Outstanding views across Dunedin.

We were a bit worried about parking since it is such a steep street but the driveway was easily accessible.

The best value bnb we have visited.
