Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Although tiny our room was comfortable and warm. There were two lockers and a TV. Bathroom facilites were shared. The facilities were clean and noise wasn't a problem. Parking was nearby in a Wilson Parking area and was free with a voucher from reception. We had no window so I recommend if you have a vehicle get a room overlooking the parking area for security. The central location was ideal for exploring the city on foot. Regent street is at the back and has some excellent bars and eateries.

Recommend for its location, very close to the nice restaurants, tram station and parks around the river. Room is simple and basic, value for money with attached bathroom. Literally no soundproof so can hear next door snoring and movement outside the door.

No complaints from time really from withe room option I had. One of the toasters was a bit temperamental but they removed one of option due to social distancing as I was there during a stay when people were trying get home.

I had a private room for two nights to self isolate and could not fault it really. The kitchen had measures put in to keep people apart as much as possible, the hostel put their pricing plan cheaper than online to make it easier for people to book and priced all dorm rooms the same which was a good touch.

I personally left a bit on the spot to try for a flight home which fortunately I got on and after a quick email after arriving back home they stuck to their word at the hostel and refunded me for the two extra nights even though I had essentially moved into that room from that morning.

Very organised staff given the circumstances and would recommend to future travelers.

Perfect accommodation for our family of 5 for stay in Christchurch. We stayed in a room with a queen bed and 2x bunk beds for it sleeps 6. Our room had a bathroom that was great for kids to use in the night... a bit awkward for showers so I preferred to use the spacious bathrooms down the hall (unisex but with a women's shower area). Ideal location - opposite skate part, Margaret Mahy playground, free parking next door, a short walk to Casa Publica (amazing food and drinks!) and all the great shops at New Regent Street. Next time we would skip the breakfast ($7 each but not great) and buy our own breakfast food to have in the upstairs kitchen.

The room is very basic and very noisy. The cups and table had not been cleaned from previous guests and there was no milk provided for hot drinks. I paid over $120 for a room with ensuite but for same price Hotel Give offers much better facilities and is a lot cleaner. I would pay $80 for this room, but for the price it should of been better.

We booked a night at urbanz but on the day of the booking, our flight was cancelled. I emailed urbanz to see if they could not charge us but they charged us the full amount and refused a refund. Very disappointing as other hostels in my experience have been more than accommodating for circumstances such as these.

I stayed here for one night in February between buses. At first, I was really excited about it. I like staying in hostels for the accomodations - the kitchens and lounges, but I also get my own room because I am such a light sleeper. I got my own room here and it was small but cozy and I was really happy with it. I went to bed early because I had an early bus to catch the next day... and then the noise started. It was harmless really, but it felt amplified. I heard my neighbors talking through the wall, I heard every roller bag on any floor, I heard every footstep, and I heard every drunk person screaming in the hallway between 11pm and 4am. I even heard their friends noisily admonishing them "I think people are trying to sleep!" I am only saying all this because I stay in plenty of hostels and none of them have such poor noise control. At least the drunks in the other hostels are slightly muffled, these were just amplified. I didn't sleep at all.

Average hostel. Cheap noisy bunk beds but large single beds which was a bonus.
Kitchen was large. Cleaners packed away chairs and cleaned kitchen at 9am. Did not feel like the kitchen was useable at that time which is ridiculous.
Nice large lounge area.
Close walking distance to the main attractions.

Thanks for your generally positive review about the hostel. We have tightened our bunks so they are not noisy anymore. We have to clean the kitchen at some time during the day but try to inconvenience guests as little as possible..

Very very very noisy even in the early mornings! Walls are like paper! You can hear EVERYTHING they do in the other rooms.
The room can also get super hot.
Some locks on the toilet do not work.
The room has a damp smell.
Some guests are very loud and rowdy I hope the staffs are stricter in implementing their house rules.
