Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I am a regular guest of the hotel and over the last 4 bookings at the motel, I have been put up at different room, different motel and a house! upon arrival. Security is paramount to me as I am a single business woman traveller. The main lock to the room is not secure. Locality is ideal being across the road from Westfieild Shopping centre, but traffic noise starts early about 5am. Room is tidy but shower head and pressure needs to be looked at. There was no hot water in the shower in one of my many stays at the motel.

Located on Riccarton road which is busy. McDonald’s & Westfield shopping centre (Has KMart, Farmers variety stores, Pack N Save grocery, movie theatre plus large number of other shops). Resteraunts just down the road. Venue is about 10 min by bus cost $4. Bus stop within 100 metres. Met by friendly staff. Our studio consisted of 2 levels. Top level had aircon & Large queen bed. Comfortable. Aircon on this level however large skylight directly above bed which makes you wake about 5.30am. Toilet on this level. Ground level has single bed, 2 chairs and 2 person table. No aircon on this level but very large skylight which can heat area up. Shower/toilet on this level. Cooking difficult as no range hood plus smoke alarm near hot plate area. Signage advises renter will bear cost of fire brigade call out if alarm activated. Tv channels limited but then again same all over NZ except Dunedin. Would I stay again YES but if issues remedied. Rated 7/10

This place is close to shopping, food, central christchurch, and the university. The people are lovely, helpful and polite and the room was spotlessly clean and warm with a great shower. The bus is close by or Taxis are available. The resturants on Riccarton Road are great, Indian, vegetarian, classic or trendy. I definitely recommend this place.

Firstly, great friendly service. Tidy room with small patio, really nice sheets and good quality kitchenette. I'd give it four stars but the shower head drooped (screw needs tightening) my room had no a/c though it was cold so the heater was enough. Also, the door lock was a bit dodgy. Price was fair for the room and they're in a great location for food. I would go back.

My family stays here every time we come to Christchurch. The location is great, close to riccarton mall and close to the farmers market. The bath is to die for! So nice! It just makes it so much better, and when the Christchurch weather isn't it's sunny self, it's nice to relax in a warm bath.

Really nice place to stay. Friendly staff, clean unit, heater on before we came, had an upstairs mezzanine which was definitely not your usual small mezzanine, close to mall and other facilities. Definitely recommend as a great place to stay in Chch.

Nice touch is a personal touch. Manager walked us to room allowing us to ask questions and explain early exits etc., The Mall is right across the road. Very clean and manager warmed our room quickly. Wonderful super king bed. Very comfortable. Enjoyed our brief overnight stay.

Central location opposite Mall easy walk - Small self contained apartment suitable for families. Spa bath, small Kitchenette to cater for basic meal prep and 2 Tv's. Very good wifi. I asked for a better heater and they changed it immediately. Lots of restaurants near by. I must say the place is sparkling clean - the chrome gleams - lots of pride taken in that. good value I thought thankyou !

This is a great wee motel complex which is one of the best I have ever stayed in. It is compact but has everything you need and more - spa bath, TV in the lounge as well as the bed room, very clean and tidy. Very well positioned across the road from Riccarton Mall. The staff couldn't be more helpful, they even had a place for me to park my 18 foot boat and ute.

We looked at the photos and were more than surprised to find the manager walking us off premise to what appeared to be a former small home Thus we paid for the newer looking Athena motel you see in the photo yet they have at least 5 to 6 units around the corner in a place next door that has been converted into units. I find this very misleading. The unit was sufficient and mostly clean with exception of very dirty curtains that were not property hung The bed was comfortable and we had a mini area with microwave hot water heater coffee tea set up toaster I personally did not like the Ricarton street location which was busy and shabby and should have booked. Bed n breakfast for same price or less We were close to the botanical gardens and museums Ok for one night would not stay again I do not like looking at a photo album showing a new accommodation only to be deceived by staying in a place around the bush sort of next door in a much older non matching converted home
