I and my daughter stayed at Academy Motor Lodge on 30/1-4/2. The location is perfect for someone to visit University Canterbury, it is just opposite the UC.
The Lodge is quiet and very clean, Bath towels are super clean,and kitchen utensils are useful for travelers.
The host is incredibly nice and helpful,she always welcome us with her big smile and proactive in informing us about local information.
It's a pleasant stay at Academy Motor Lodge.

Old, exceptionally clean, plenty of hot water, great bathroom linen.
Quiet location beside the university
Excellent continental breakfasts available - great value.
Plenty of parking but Crekye Road traffic is quite heavy during morning and evening rush hours - but quickly dissipates

its hard to beat this great location to everywhere
airport, golf, and so quite attractions

We stayed here with family for two nights on our transit to Invercargill and i must say it was a nice experience. However if youre travelling with elderly people, you might want to request ground floor rooms because the stairs to the second floor is quite narrow

Very good spacious accommodation fully equipped. Laundry room and helpful staff. Very clean all round. Great location for getting in to Christchurch city as bus stops just around the corner. We were on first floor and could sit on the verandah to catch the sun.

Close to the university and good value. Room was clean and functional. Great water pressure in the shower, though it was quite a small shower over a chubb so a big step to get into the shower. Friendly host and good parking outside of the unit.

This motel fit the bill after arriving late on a rainy night. Basic but clean and comfortable. It is kind of retro with glass, louvered door. It was a bit further from the airport then we thought. So, taxi was a bit expensive. Taxi drivers have to pay a surcharge to pick people up at the airport. They then have to pass it on to passengers.

Arrived late after midnight they left the heater and lights on in unit very toasty on arrival. Everything very clean good place to stop not too far from the airport. We had a full kitchen if you wanted to cook as we left first thing did not need it.

After a long day riding in the middle of winter arriving at Academy Motor Lodge was fantastic. Despite some of the other guests looking down their noses at me (something I am used to as a motorcyclist) I was welcomed by the owner who smiled broadly and used my name to great me. The room I had pre booked was a studio so I wasn't expecting anything too grand, however I found it had ample room and the décor was clean and tidy with access (despite it being small) very good.
The bed was very comfortable and the shower was excellent. Cooking is not really an option as there is only a microwave but for what I required it was great value and I would definitely stay again.

LOUD. We did get the room closest to the road, but with only single pane windows, it was like the cars were in our room. We could also clearly hear anyone in the parking lot, and the trash collection came at 7am and definitely woke us. Also, the bed was rather springy, and it seems they turned a 2 bedroom room into 2 separate rooms because we had to enter via the sliding glass door instead of normal door. I called ahead to request late check-in and found the staff rude, but when I spoke to the front desk in person, the woman was very nice. On the plus side, the place was clean and it is close to the airport. If you decide to stay here, I recommend that you request a room away from the road and make sure to bring your own hair dryer if you need one as there is not one provided in the room.

Should be ok but check with the staff there (we came early am)
LisaM, Search back and find my review of the motel from Jan16. You'll see that I too arrived on a JetStar flight at around the same time and did not get to the motel until 01.00. I'll be doing the same this coming week - another flight to ChCh - and the motel has arrangements for you to collect the key when you arrive. They also left the lights on in our room - so we could see where we were going. Some good plus points for management. It is, of course, essential that you make this kind of arrangement - by informing them of what you are doing, time of arrival and more. Enjoy your time in Godzone then. All good things.
