Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We rented the two bedroom apartment on the first floor for 160nz$ per night which is great price for the big rooms. Kitchen has a cooker, oven and microwave and fridge which were all in good working order. One room is a double bed with heaters on the bed and the other room had twin beds also with heat. There was an extra bed in the lounge area and a newish couch. Table and 4 chairs which need an upgrade . Curtains we new and nice.
Parking was fine . They not so great things are the water pressure. Some days there were hardly any pressure. Cleaning could be better - and some days there were no house keeping which does not bother me too much but might be important for some. That said the request for clean towels etc were met promptly but very nice and accommodating owners. Location was great.

Stayed a few days at this place when we visited Christchurch as the price seemed reasonable for a motel in Merivale area. Was an average stay. Our room was serviced daily but housekeeping was a bit of hit and miss depending on whoever serviced it on the day. One day they didn’t make our bed other days inadequate towels etc. Owners were friendly enough. Good parking and has on site laundry and dryer.

Good location for a reasonable price. A little bit of traffic noise but not as much as I thought being near the main road. The heat pump warms the place quickly. The shower could benefit from an old toothbrush in the corners and under the couch were crumbs. Hairdryer provided and a coffee plunger on request. Some more hooks in the bathroom would be useful. Staff were helpful and friendly.

Arrived in Christchurch late in the evening and this motel was the only one answering their phones after 6pm. Booking process was easy and when we arrived we were greeted by the owner. Very surprised reading all the bad reviews as we enjoyed our stay. Great location, clean and tidy rooms, affordable price and lovely staff. Needed some documents printed and the owner was very helpful. We didn't hear any road noise at all for the two days we were there.

I don't mind basic and I don't mind cheap and cheerful. But I do mind dirt and peeling paint. And I do mind only having a tiny, ineffective wall heater in the middle of a Christchurch winter. And I definitely do mind taking a shower with a slow dribble of water - either scalding or freezing and nothing in between. This is the cheapest motel that I found in Papanui Rd, but trust me - pay $20-$30 more and get a hot shower!

I really don't understand why this place has so many negative reviews.
The owners were really friendly and helpful. It had all the kitchen facilities anyone could want. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. It's in an excellent location only 5 minutes walk from North Hagley Park. OK, it's a bit jaded looking but excellent value for money.

Modest 1970's decor motel. Close to North Hagley Park; Victoria street cafe's and pubs. Walking distance to city centre. Motel clean, , good floor size, practical and reasonably priced. Friendly motel staff.

I stayed one night in Unit 3. This unit was grubby. The toilet rim around the back and seat hinge hadn't seen a scrubbing (tooth ) brush in ages and all the skirting boards were covered in the greasy sort of dust that balls up on your finger when you wipe along it. The bed was very comfortable.

I was booked to stay here for two nights. After the first night I took everything with me as I have always done in every motel I stay in for work as I need items in my suitcases for work. When I went to checkout the rude lady behind the counter had a go at me that they thought I had done a runner so advised her staff to do a full clean of the room. She then charged the credit card which it had been booked with. This has caused a lot of hassles as I needed to pay for this on another card. There was no phone call whatsoever and had the audacity to say this was entirely my fault. I would not recommend to stay here!!

We lasted 10 minutes. Photos are not what website showed. As per photos we found bugs in the drawers, handles falling off doors, dust everywhere, heater falling off wall and smelt when turned on, mouldy and overall needed a good tidy up. Felt a wee bit sorry for the owner as we were 1 of 3 lots leaving at the same time but was too dirty to stay in
