Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Erin and her mother are attentive hosts who provided helpful tips--and meat to feed the eels! They take time to answer questions and help guests any way they can. Peanut and Coco are friendly bonuses if one likes pets (which we do!). The room was very comfortable, with every amenity one could need, including washer and dryer. The decor is modern and clean. Even though our room was very close to the road, once doors and windows are closed you can hardly hear any noise (and there's ac if it's hot). Wifi is very good. All in all, an excellent place to stay in Christchurch.

We stayed two nights at this excellent motel. A spotless apartment, fully equipped, comfortable bed and ideally situated for an on-foot exploration of Christchurch. Highly recommended. Staff helpful and friendly.

Definitely coming back again. This fully upgraded motel is just so clean and beautifully appointed. Erin was a great host, and although it is on a busy road, the new double glazing makes it oh so quiet. This should be a “go to” motel for anyone staying in Christchurch.

The unit I stayed in has recently had a major refurbish and an excellent job has been made. Everything was immaculate, the colours, joinery and workmanship. The unit was nicely laid out and everything well organised and clean. A large TV was on the wall and with everything else so good I was a little surprised more channels weren’t available. The staff were very helpful. Would definitely recommend.

Great central location. Lots of lime scooters on hand if needed. Fantastic customer service and very accommodating of my early arrival. Room yet to be refurbished but very clean. New refurbished units look great.

We stayed here 3 nights, in a very spacious, clean, nicely decorated upstairs studio. The bed was comfortable and the kitchenette was very well equipped, more so than most places we have stayed. The bathroom was small but sufficient although a little tired. The towels were changed daily. We always wash our dishes, would not expect "maid service". We had a small balcony with chairs which was nice for an evening drink. It was very quiet and peaceful at night, even although is on a busy road with restaurants and bars close by.
The location is perfect, close to the Merivale Mall and shops, restaurants and bars.
The price was very reasonable in a City that has grossly overpriced accommodation.

I've worked in tourism and hospitality in Queenstown including for a motel and now design bespoke houses and apartments there. Adelphi is an older motel, and my expectations were modest. It was booked for me and to be honest it may not have been my first choice if I was choosing.

Check in with Erin was easy and on walking to the room I noticed young apple trees and grape vines in fruit. They had planted them to allow guests who might have never picked an apple to pick their own. Wow- who thinks of such a simple delightful experience?

Family people, that's who.

On seeing my room (No, 2) I was very pleasantly surprised- on trend white & wood Scandinavian furniture and bed- and solid & comfortable table chairs and sofa. (All the motel chairs and sofas I've used before were thinly padded cheapos that made it a relief to stand up) There was even a genuine David Trubridge Hinaki lampshade. And clean!

When you read the other Trip Advisor reviews it's clear it was before Erin & Mike bought it and refurbished it, and those are obsolete.

The stylish King bed is comfortable, the room has a heatpump/ air con- generous fridge freezer and a first for me- it's own full size washer & dryer! Cutlery & crockery is generous and solid, soft close drawers and the bathroom stylish, light & airy. There's an ironing setup, microwave, hob, toaster- even a grater. Everything you need for a multi day or week stay. Seriously, you could live in here easily. Space is generous- there are much smaller apartments in Queenstown.

Erin and Mike are generous hosts- with time and knowledge to share- genuine folk who care.

So- there you have it. Based on the Google Streetview I might not have chosen Adelphi- but having such a comfortable stay here, I don't imagine staying anywhere else in Christchurch.

Well done Erin, and thank you.

Host,Erin, was very welcoming and fast in responding to my emails and requests. The family room we stayed in was on the ground floor (you just rolled in your heavy luggage) and was recently refurbished and offering you just what you need for a very clean and cosy stay. I heard from the host all the other rooms will complete refurbishment soon too. This motel is definitely way above what we had expected.

A beautifully decorated unit with a king bed. Spotlessly clean and close to everything. The owner gave us milk in a reusable glass bottle which is a small but sustainable gesture. Great value for money. Would use again if in chch.

We stayed at Adelphi for 3 nights, we booked here for the price and location to the CBD. The units appear to be under renovation and from what I could see they looked comfortable with double glazing, new furniture and beautiful decor. We stayed in one of the older rooms, and though retro was very clean and tidy and the ammenities worked well. The hosts Erin and Ann were fantastic and friendly, always on hand to help the guests and keeping the place looking top notch. Its only a few km to walk to the CBD and Hagley Park and Lime scooters also appeared to be dropped every morning outside the gate which was great! Our next trip to Christchurch we will be sure to book there again.
