Very old hotel. Looks like an eyesore from the outside & doesn't get better. When we booked we thought we had a bathroom but it was a shared one. $40 per night more to get a bathroom. Puts the price up but couldn't get refund due to booking online. Food expensive for what you get. Would not recommend this dive.
MY ADVICE - DO NOT STAY HERE! Loving Christchurch as I do, I was bitterly disappointed with my overnight stay here. Overall appearance unclean and I did not feel safe. Further, having to leave early a.m. for a flight and after a noisy and sleepless night, I was shocked to discover there was no hot water either in the shower or vanity. Upon departing, the after hours staff member I located was apologetic but could not help as was only new.
Didn't stay at the Hotel as such. Certainly doesn't look very inspiring but no doubt you get what you pay for. I went to the Venue which is the bar within Equestrian. Nice and warm with Central fireplace. Very much working man's bar around 4-5pm. How can you complain about $11 Jugs of beer. Service was good, and if you are looking for a place to drop in for a drink this is decent enough.
Warm Room, plenty of hot water, close to the Airport. Staff were very accommodating for an early cooked breakfast at a very reasonable price. The hotel is across the road from the Hornby Hub shopping center.
Terrible. Stayed in a single room downstairs and the door wouldn't lock properly. A 21st was happening in the main center and the music played till late at night. People were walking up and down the halls all night as a single woman staying on my own I was quite scared. I pushed my suitcase up against the door and made a makeshift block on the door. Toilets were down the hall and there was no sink to wash your hands you had to walk back to the room to wash your hands in the sink their. Bar staff were rude (although one lady was very nice) Reception staff appeared rushed. Only one seeming perfectly chilled and welcoming was the gorgeous black cat. Ordered Wedges as a meal and it was huge and was really nice. Took awhile to arrive but bar was busy at the time. Building is old and run down. Carpet in my room had stains on the floor, shoddy lock and room was extremely dated.…
