Perfect location for the University. Close to Riccarton mall and restaurants. Very friendly check in. Room was clean and had everything we needed. One day we didn't get a service but they did come and ask us if we needed anything in the late afternoon. Rates were very reasonable.

Our location is handy to University of Canterbury, only 5 minutes walk up from Riccarton Road, up Balgay Street to the University of Canterbury Campus. We stayed at the Best Western (Clyde on Riccarton) Motel in Christchurch early in October 2011 during the World Rugby Cup. We decided to tour the South Island and found ourselves looking for a place to stay in Christchurch. This motel is located in the west of the City about ten minutes from the International Airport. It is about a 2 hour drive south from Kaikura.
The motel is on the north side of Riccarton Road just west of Clyde Road. You are within walking distance to restaurants and shopping on Riccarton and there is free surface parking at the motel.
This is a two storey motel and our unit was up the stairs on the second level. A nice couple run this motel and are very attentive. We required that the pullout couch be made into a bed and it was done right away.
The room was clean and tidy with a bathroom and shower (no tub). There is a kitchen area with a microwave, mini fridge, sink and all the coffee making necessities. It had a flat screen TV and free WIFI for which you are given a password. A thermostat controlled electrical wall heater gives you all the heating required.
This motel is a ten minute drive to the downtown and CBD (currently closed off due to the earthquake earlier this year). This motel has had no damage or problem from the quake or aftershocks.
We walked 10 minutes west on Riccarton Road to a Lone Star Restaurant for dinner but there are other options as well. There is shopping also in this area.
All in all, it reasonable (approx $140 NZ).

I was staying in Riccarton for work and I had a very pleasant stay. Rooms are very clean and tidy with attention to detail , soft big towels , soft large pillows, nothing was ever too much trouble for Bob and his wife. They really did make my stay very enjoyable and I would definitely recommend this accommodation.

Our experience from arrival to departure was amazing. Zeta, the owner, was welcoming and extremely accommodating. The room was spacious and clean, with comfortable beds and great pillows. Extremely well-priced. When we had friends over, they commented on how nice our room was and appreciated the well-stocked kitchenette. We highly recommend this motel. We have stayed there several times for both work and family visits and can't fault the treatment, cleanliness, or convenience of the location near the Bush Inn and Westfield Mall in Riccarton. We have recommended this motel to a number of people, who have all enjoyed their experience there and continue to go back. We will definitely be back. This motel is a cut above the rest.

The room was good, tidy, with a fine kitchen, utilities to make tea and coffee, a good shower and a very good bed. The hosts were very kind and helpful, assisting us when we had a cancelled flight at Auckland airport. We felt really welcomed by them when we arrived late in the evening because of that. We would definitely recommend staying here!

I (nicely) informed reception that there were a number problems with my room: an unfinished dodgy repair job that had not been completed or cleaned up in the bathroom; what looked to be a period stain on the bed linen and very dirty stained bathroom towels. The cutlery was dirty, the microwave was dirty, bathroom blind was broken and provided no privacy. There was a 40 foot container in the carpark in front off my unit. I asked what a suitable remedy would be for the bathroom and uncleanliness and they offered a $30 dollar discount on a $348 for two night rate. It’s a NO. I moved to Towers On The Park, it is by Hagley Park. The room rate was 130 and I upgraded to the executive spa room for another $20. I went for an amazing walk in the park. It is close to town and all amenities. The motel is slightly dated but very clean and the proximity to Hagley is gold.

All reviews are appreciated. We are disappointed we did not meet your expectation. Our Handyman was unable to find where the privacy blind in the bathroom was broken, so it could be repaired, As to cleanliness we have taken that up with the staff as much of this was not brought to our attention when you made your complaint and departed early. First time we have stayed at Christchurch Classic Motels & Apartments. Lovely & clean, great host, everything that we needed, not far from central Christchurch. We had the name of a place to get some authentic chinese for tea, and were given great help in finding the place by Zeta - very enjoyable meal too. Would recommend.

The Comfort Inn Motel on Riccarton Rd, I have to say is the place to stay, the rooms are clean and tidy and above standard. Housekeeping services daily and very friendly staff willing to help in any which way possible. Laundry facilities available on request and nothing is a problem to Zeta and Bob. I stayed there 5 months and wouldnt stay any where else but The Comfort Inn. Highly recommond the place to family and friends. A++ for every thing. Beautiful genuine people who care and value there patrons with high regard. Close to Riccarton Mall and just a quick trip on the bus to town.
