We've stayed here several times now because of the central location, quick trip to the airport and access to a variety of restaurants and shops.
We were absolutely delighted to be upgraded to a one bedroom unit with a separate lounge/dining area for extra comfort, thank you Apollo team!
The rooms are well equipped with full kitchen facilities for meal preparation, great shower and comfy bed.
Only one thing that we can see improved is a deep clean of the bathroom and shower area to remove dustiness in corners and mould from the shower cavity. Perhaps a good dose of bleach, 30 seconds shower spray and remove and clean the rubber seals in the shower.
We'll definitely be back again.

Nice motel to stay in Christchurch. Excellent location with a 10 minute journey to the Airport or CBD. We stayed here for 4 nights in November 2020 while attending a wedding which was 2 minutes walk from this motel. Rooms are very tidy, comfortable and with all amenities. Staff are good, and very friendly.

Nice and affordable 4-star motel with a friendly staff. I've spent there 2 nights and the property met all expectations. It's not on a walking distance from neither the airport nor the central part of Christchurch but there are buses available on the Riccarton Road. So nothing really to complain about.

I recommend this property to everyone

My room was bright, clean and comfortable. The staff were really friendly and super helpful. There was a little road noise, to that's to be expected when you're on Riccarton Road. So close to the mall too!.
Will definitely be staying there again!

We stayed late January. The chap that booked us in was helpful and friendly and the place was clean. However, it was hot, as Christchurch gets in summer. There is no air conditioner, which is unbelievable. It was 30° during the day and it didn't seem to get much cooler at night. Having the windows open was a good option, but they don't open very far and Riccarton road traffic is relentless and noisy.

We were in an upstairs unit with a pitched roof and there is a window that you can't reach with no blinds. So we were woken by the light at 6am.

Great stay, well, apart from getting hardly any sleep.

This is the second time we have stayed at this motel, and would happily return again on our next visit to Christchurch. The heaters had been turned on before we arrived, so the room was lovely and cosy when we walked in. The unit was spacious, clean and well equipped, and the bed was very comfortable. Noise from the busy Riccarton road wasn't a problem, due to the double glazing. A lovely place to stay for a very reasonable price.

My wife and I stayed in a downstairs room in the Apollo for one night as somewhere to tide us over between an incoming flight at Christchurch Airport and a long drive down south.

My first impression was that this small two-storey motel was on a very noisy main road and had a very cramped car park, requiring some tight manouvering. The lack of care from some other guests in parking their cars made this even harder -- if you're driving an unfamiliar car you might be best off parking in the small side street nearby. However, on check in the owners were very friendly and helpful, I found Internet access was generous and fast, and the room was clean and tidy.

The room had basic self-catering facilities (bar fridge, microwave, hot plates, kettle), which was fine for a short stay and seems to be the standard for self-catering motels in New Zealand, but would have been a bit lacking for a stay of any longer than a few nights. The room was very cramped, though, with a queen bed, bedside tables, and small two-person dining table with two chairs and a lounge chair all squashed into square footage that could only really accommodate the bed and side tables. Again for a single night it was okay, but even then my wife and I got in each other's way and had to continually move our luggage around; for a longer stay it would have been frustrating.

The bathroom was okay, although the shower was one of the non-recessed (flat floor) access types with a nylon curtain, and it didn't quite work right; the water dribbled from the shower curtain straight out towards the bedroom and was only stopped by placing a towel carefully to mop it up before it reached the carpet. (The obvious water damage around the bottom edges of the bathroom doorway showed that I was not the first guest to discover this design fault.) Supplied soap was very nice, but the conditioning shampoo (no separate conditioner) was in a pump affixed in the shower, and wasn't the best.

The most disappointing thing about our stay, however, was the noise during the night. The road noise was very loud, even with the double-glazed windows, but even worse was the noise from other guests moving around upstairs and going up and down the stairs early in the morning. We both slept quite poorly.

Overall the Apollo was okay, but the crowded nature of the place, the noisy location on Riccarton Road, and worst of all, the noise from other guests late at night and early in the morning, marred what would otherwise be a much more pleasant place to stay. We can only assume that if we stayed in an upstairs room we would have had considerably less broken sleep, although being slightly higher up may increase the road noise.

Apollo Motel is located on a major road into town, about 10 minutes from the airport and 10 minutes from the town centre (by car). Town centre is not within walking distance, so a car is required.

Rooms are spacious, new, clean and well equipped (kitchenette).

There is some traffic noise from the nearby road, but it's more than acceptable.

Staff is very friendly and helpful.

Prices are pretty competitive!

i would definitely stay here again!

Arrived with eight cases and three kids at seven in the morning and could not wish for a warmer welcome.

Kevin & Janet (the owners) went out of their way to help us, advise us about schools and car dealers, direct us to the best chippie and generally made us very welcome during our two week stay.

The room was clean with clean towels daily and sheets changed every three days.

All in all a great motel which I would whole heartedly recommend.

Stayed at the Apollo motel for 3 nights and was very impressed with this motel. Very spacious rooms. All the amenities you need. Off street parking. Only 2 km outside the city on Riccarton Rd. Very helpful staff, if back in Christchurch would definitely stay again.
