Detailed Reviews
We had a wonderful weekend stay at Holly Manor. From the minute we arrived we were treated to fantastic service, warm and helpful hosts and the most relaxing setting. The room was beautiful, a great size with a wonderful bath and very comfortable bed. Kelly also gave us massages which were devine. Delicious meals (the french toast was superb) prepared at times suitable to us and we felt VERY pampered. We will definately be back and would highly recommend Holly Manor. Thank you Kelly and Nigel for making our stay so fabulous.

My wife and I were lucky enough to have the pleasure of staying at Holly Manor for two nights on a recent trip to NZ, and what a wonderful start to our holiday it was. Because our flight was going to get us into Christchurch around midnight, Kelly, the owner, communicated several times with us by email, sending clear directions (including several photographs!) as to how to let ourselves in on arrival. Holly Manor is a beautiful, large, old, but very tastefully modernised, house and our room, the Tudor Room, was a delight. Plush ambience, excellent facilities, bed made for deep dreams and a peaceful night's sleep, outlook onto a lovely garden. Breakfast in the morning (the capable and attractive Kelly was up well before 7.00am to get us away early on day two) was beautifully home cooked with a very generous choice. We felt that New Zealand's glowing reputation for looking after its tourists was absolutely epitomised by this lovely B & B. Location, by the way is only about 15 mins from the airport and a pleasant stroll into the town centre. If we get a chance to return to Christchurch this is where we'll definitely be staying.

The only negative i can think about for this place is that we could only stay the night, having to get the train to Greymouth the next day. About a ten minute cab ride from Christchurch train station, the B and B is situated a short walk to the shops and restaurants of Merivale, thriving due to the fact the CBD is largely closed. The house itself is a large period cottage with a pretty rose garden. We stayed in the Elizabethan room which was large and airy, and the decor throughout reminded me of an old English manor. Beautiful! Free WiFi and guest computer was a nice touch, and there is a reading room for guests to relax and enjoy a variety of books, magazines, DVDs and boardgames. A cooked breakfast is also provided as part of the room rate but sadly we weren't able to try due to leaving early. Thankfully on check-in our host kindly invited us to help ourselves to the continental breakfast options even though we were leaving before breakfast began. Would definitely like to stay here again.

+1
Can't think of a single negative - except perhaps that because Holly Manor is such a pleasure to stay in, it is difficult to get a booking! Lovely character house, pleasant service, nice breakfast, comfortable beds, attractive and relaxing gardens and verandah, nice sitting room for guests to use, excellent value. There is no offstreet parking, which may be an issue for some guests but was no problem for us as the street is wide, and nearby spaces for us to leave our car were plentiful. We could not fault Holly Manor on cleanliness and the attention to detail is especially impressive.

We were scheduled to arrive well after midnight on our flight from Australia and were afraid that we would have to settle for a bland airport motel. Holly Manor is a charming and beautifully restored Victorian home and our hosts couldn't have been more accommodating. The Victorian room was perfect for our short stay with comfortable bed, clean ensuite bathroom and wifi. Breakfast is served in a pretty sun filled dining room supplied with current local newspapers. Holly Manor is easy to find, - even late at night - a short drive from airport and city center but in a quiet residential neighborhood. We felt lucky to be able to experience a little bit of Christchurch history in this unique and beautiful setting.

We started our NZ trip here and it was a perfect beginning. As we were only staying one night, we chose the smallest room which was very well appointed and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent with everything included. The house itself is beautiful-Victorian with a lovely garden. We were able to walk into town, through Hagley Park, and into the Botanic Gardens. Not far away is a selection of restaurants and cafes. We had an inexpensive but lovely dinner at the unassuming little Thai place on Papanui Road.
If ever travelling to NZ again we would definitely come back to Holly Manor.

This was a great weekend away. The great dinners and breakfasts, added to the great massage and great room with very comfortable bed, was topped off superbly by the fantastic service delivered by both Kelly and Nigel. They were very friendly and helpful.
It was a great stay and I would definitely stay there again if given the chance to.

What a stunning place Holly Manor was, it was as if time stopped and all the peaceful things of life stayed. My husband and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary here and we loved it so much, we will definitely be back! Wonderful room, wonderful service, great food (cooked fresh for you, yummm!) and an amazing masseuse on site, who could ask for more? Thanks to the gang at Holly Manor for a beautiful weekend :)

Looked, felt & tasted great. Themed Elizabethan Room was lovely, spacious and peaceful. Kelly & Nigel gave a welcoming service to ensure we were happy and relaxed. Warm inside even though there was snow on the ground.
Chocolate nibbles by the computer and great cooking for dinner & breakfast.
Do enjoy a massage from Kelly and go to a happy place!
Handy to city centre. Verandah seating overlooks a nice little garden.
Our first experience of a Bed & Breakfast is all good. Finished off nicely with no rush to checkout...
