I’ve stayed a couple of times at the Carlton Hotel as it is really close to hospital were my son gets his follow up appointments. It has always been a very enjoyable stay walking distance from Christchurch City and right in front of the park. It’s nice to see that the new management have made renovations to the hotel and the rooms.

We had a lovely stay in the newly renovated apartment on the 3rd floor. Staff were very friendly and gave us some great suggestions for meals out. Dined a few times at the restaurant on site Strawberry Fare which made the most amazing desserts. Close to Hagley Park and we could walk into the city. We will definitely be coming back to stay when next in Christchurch . Loved the large silver gnome out front.

Great place to stay when in Wellington. Our family of 5 spent a night in the 3 bedroom apartment in December. The apartment itself was really well furnished with a very large and functional kitchen. The beds were really comfortable too!

Beautiful modern luxury apartment in Christchurch. Wonderful welcoming place. Everything you could possibly want, we had a wonderful night away here. Very comfortable beds and so much space for everyone. Toilets upstairs and downstairs and lovely kitchen including a coffee machine. Smart TV. Across from Hagley Park so an awesome location being so close to Central Christchurch with the Strawberry Fare Restaurant on site which is open for all meals.

We had a fantastic stay. Very comfortable and very well equipped with fridge dishes cutlery and toaster. We even had a small balcony. Staff were fantastic and with the reception closed the self checkin worked well. It is location is handy from the airport on Bus 29 and is near the Park. Can strongly recommend this hotel.

Went in for a Sunday lunch, as always the front staff are so lovely. The roast of the day and fried chicken came out. Next level delicious and plated beautifully. So great to see a chef who cares about what she is serving. We’ll definitely be back next weekend

We really like this place, although, at the time we stayed it was very quiet. If it was packed it probably wouldn't be as good. There are no lifts, and I had a bad knee at the time so it's pretty poor in that respect, and the balcony was littered in disgusting cigarette butts which stunk. But it was close to nice restaurants and the room itself was nice

I notified this hotel that I would be arriving after midnight, and they gave me instructions how to find my room - good, but my room was on the third floor and at the far end of the corridor. So I had to drag my heavy suitcase up 6 flights of stairs and so I must have disturbed other guests. I was exhausted! Then, as I left 3 days later at 7.00am again I must have disturbed guests. The brochure does not state that the hotel has 3 floors. The room was very pleasant, clean and well-equipped with mini-kitchen and the staff were pleasant. But this hotel is not suitable for the elderly, disabled or anyone with young children.

The hotel has a good location and there are plenty of restaurants close by. Downtown is about 20 mins walk.

Booked here due to it being last minute and our usual stay not being available. Wasn’t sure but heading into night 2 of 5, I really like it, and I’m hard to please
The great: reception staff
The bathrooms - massive plus that they are modern for the age of the hotel
High ceilings
Space
Free parking and free wifi
Close to somewhere to eat and beautiful Hagley Park is right across the road
Even though it’s at a ridiculously busy intersection you don’t hear the traffic.
The not so great- it’s a bit dated, other than the bathroom the furniture is old and stained - our couch is a bit feral
The door locks need a Swiss Army knife to open
Housekeeping don’t really pay attention to detail - we ordered in pizza last night and even after the room was serviced the pizza boxes were still here
Fridge has had temp control removed, and after filling the ice trays 25 hours later we still only have cold water
No real soap at hand basin or shower drain
For the price it’s ok, still would only stay here again if we had no choice
