Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Would be best value Motel in Airport area. Fast shuttle, available 24 hours. Very well appointed rooms, with kitchen and all facilities. Great beds, quiet rooms, nice big blackout curtains. Heater and air con. Restaurant closed at the moment due to Covid, but due to open soon. Highly recommended.

Shower stall was tiny. Water suddenly turned extremely hot and there was no escape. Painful. No solution but to jump out with the water running or quickly turn it off. Travelled with a group, In another unit, the bottom of the shower stall was repaired with duct tape. Wont be returning

First stay here was average. Service was ok. Second time was bad. I booked using Expedia made a mistake on the days Owner refused to transfer the dates even tho he could of easily. The rooms were dirty and only basic cleaning done. First room stunk of fish. Floors were greasy in the second one. Stay here and you will be disappointed

Basic overnight accommodation, close to the airport. The furnishings were a bit tired but it was clean and comfortable, and the shuttle service from the airport in the middle of the night and back again in the morning to pick up our car was really helpful.

We were picked up from the airport by a very affable driver and signed into the hotel with no problems. The room was excellent, with large clean bathroom, and fully equipped kitchnette. There was also a substantial mini bar & the bedroom was very cleran, comfortable and airy. Then there was the retsaurant. The front of the menu declared that they cater for all dietary requirements - lactose intolerant, vegetarian, vegan, coeliac, gluten intolerance etc. Strangely, there wasn't a single vegetarian item on the menu. When we asked if a vegetarian meal could be prepared, the message came back from the kitchen 'No!' My wife asked if it was possible to have some pasta - 'The chef doesn't have any pasta'. How about an omelette - 'No!' Is there anything vaguely vegetarian at all? This time the message from the ktchen was 'Pasta it is'. Where did the chef suddenly find that? Towards the end of the meal, the very informally dressed waitress went on a break, only to be replaced by somebody who we thought had either been repairing the road outside, or dirtecting traffic. His photo is below. Next morning, as the sign in the bedroom said that breakfast is available from 8.00am at weekends, we made our way to the restaurant/reception area, only to find the main builiding locked. Using the external phone we dialled 0 for reception and got the affable shuttle driver (Pete) who said - 'No! they don't do breakfasts at the weekend. I can run you up to the airport if you like.' During the journey Pete told us that the next day was his last. He couldn't take it any more, and that the only hot breakfast you would get at this hotel would be a slice of bread and some mustard.

Excellent stay. Hospitality was great!! Accomodation was clean and tidy and warm, the bed was super comfortable and lovely and clean, was able to leave my car there while we went overseas. Didn’t feel nervous about leaving it there! On return they were very helpful sorting the keys and car out for us! Will definitely stay again in the near future! Thanks guys see you soon!!!! 😊😊😊

Airport collection in the middle of the night with a cheerful welcome and the comfortable room with the radiators warm. The restaurant provides an excellent breakfast and a dinner to satisfy. An excellent choice for a dinner engagement.

We were staying at this motel for a quick layover in Christchurch when the owner suddenly went on a rampage down the small suburban street around the back of the hotel called Juniper Place. We wondered what all the fuss was about so we opened our windows and saw him banging on resident’s doors asking if they owned a white cat because his son was attacked by one? We thought this was absolutely ludicrous as cats do not attack people without being provoked so his son must have been doing something to anger the cat in the first place. This was incredibly uncomfortable as it was 10pm at night and he was waking these residents up all to look for this cat. We don’t even know what he would have done had anyone owned up to owning this cat but it was all too much for us to take on so late at night. This is unacceptable as a motel owner and a really unprofessional look for guests who overheard the encounter. We would urge anyone to refrain from staying at this old, tired and run-down establishment in the future as you never know what he is capable of next.

Thanks for your review but this does not appear to be the true story. We want to clarify and reassure that we did not perform the above mentioned act. We do agree with you that the cat will not attack people unless someone has acted or performed some behaviour which has anger the cat. As we know that we did have a guest staying with us who his son has been scratch by a cat and the father came to ask whether we own a cat in this motel. To reply to him, we do not own any pet in this motel. And we also asked the father whether his son play with the cat unsupervised?

The unit I stayed in was a little old fashioned and not entirely suitable for seniors. The shower was in a bath which can be quite dangerous for those who may be even slightly challenged as far as mobility is concerned. However, apart from that, the apartment was very comfortable and clean and well equipped. Stafff were helpful and the Lodge is superbly located to the Airport with only a kilomtre or so travel. Very easy access to and from airport. A little out of the way as far as restaurants and shops are concerned but some major shops available within 3 kilometer drive.

we stayed just one night room 20 Thank goodness, ok for a stopover near the airport but rooms very scruffy and tired, the whole place smelled musty & stale like someone had been smoking, bathroom again needed refurbishing also kitchen worn out and tired however the beds were clean and comfy and the staff super friendly and helpful, wifi was excellent but the t.v kept losing signal, free parking and free shuttle to airport but if you haven't to much luggage and like a walk it,s not a bad walk along Memorial Avenue straight there
