We spent 17 nights at Tuscana Motor Lodge when my wife and I were stuck at Christchurch during the Covid-19 lockdown. Despite these conditions, we had a very pleasant stay.
Vivienne and Grant are two very helpful and kind hosts. The rooms are well equipped. There are a barbecue area and laundry facilities for longer stays. The motel is localized at a short walk distance of the city center and supermarkets and at 15-20 minutes drive of the airport.
Our opinion is well summarized by The National Geographic guidebook on New-Zealand (French Edition of 2019): Tuscana Motor Lodge is on the "top of the list" of motels located on Bealey Av. "thanks to its good hospitality and its comfortable rooms".
Vivienne and Grant are two very helpful and kind hosts. The rooms are well equipped. There are a barbecue area and laundry facilities for longer stays. The motel is localized at a short walk distance of the city center and supermarkets and at 15-20 minutes drive of the airport.

We have stayed at this motel many times over the last year or so... but shamefully just got around to writing a review.
The rooms are super clean and comfy, with lovely pillows and linen.
We really appreciate being able to stay at a clean premises with our 2 dogs, as this can be challenging at times.
Despite reading a review that mentioned a strong dog odour in one of the rooms, this is never something we have experienced.
The owners, Grant & Vivienne, are always friendly, helpful and most obliging, even accommodating last minute changes to our bookings on occasion.
We highly recommend this motel!

We stayed in an upstairs one bedroom unit. The lounge area had ample and comfortable lounges a coffee table and good sized television with an excellent choice of channels including the Sky Sports channels. The kitchen area also had a table and chairs. The bedroom was located at the rear of the unit away from the busy roadway and also had television. We were pleasantly surprised at how quiet the unit was, considering that the location is so close to the city centre. A small table and chairs were provided in an extended area outside the unit along the walkway. The conditions were very cold during our stay however good heating was provided. We were so pleased to come back to the unit each night and find that the heater had been switched on during our absence providing a very cosy return. The managers were very friendly and made us feel most welcome. Highly recommended for anyone wishing to enjoy the convenience of the City centre and the magnificent park.

Vivienne and Grant are perfect hosts and wonderful people. Nothing was a problem for them at a difficult time when New Zealand went into lock down. The motel is located walking distance to the CBD, Victoria Street restaurants/cafes and short walk to Merivale mall and shops. The rooms are well equiped, spacious and immaculately clean. Highly recommended.

It’s pet friendly and our room definitely stunk of smelly dog. Lovely room, large complete with table and chairs, bar fridge, microwave, electric frypan in the kitchenette and two arm chairs in the room. Bathroom large with sep shower. Good location to walk into CBD but nothing really close by. On site parking. Would have stayed again except the oder was just too strong. Perhaps tiles instead of carpet on the floor might help. Friendly staff.

We went to Christchurch for a couple of days and had 2 nights at the Tuscana Motor Lodge. The rooms were spacious, clean and quiet and the bed was super comfy and large (a King). The hosts were terrific and we were able to have our small dog with us whilst there for a small extra fee. Excellent location and great experience.

This unit was comfortable, quiet, clean and roomy. The bed was comfortable. The little kitchenette in the unit met our needs of being self-sufficient. Off street parking. Lots of shops, attractions and restaurants within walking distance. The host was so friendly and helpful. He made recommendations of which walking route to take to encompass all the local attractions we wanted to see.

We stayed here for a few nights. Check in was easy and the host was friendly and very helpful. We stayed in the spa unit. This had a separate bedroom (with tv) and a spacious lounge and dining area. Sky tv in the lounge was a plus. There was a microwave for cooking and a toaster in the kitchen area.
The motel is at the Papanui Road end of Bealey Ave so is close to the casino and plenty of eating venues. If you come from the airport, you have to loop around the block to Columbo Street as there is no u turn allowed at Durham Street.

Great from the beginning, easy to find and check in was a breeze. The man on the desk was so nice and super helpful, anything we needed he helped with. The room was so nice, very clean and tidy, super comfy bed and so nice and warm. We came back one very cold night and they had put the heater on in our room and it was super toasty, we were so looked after and made to feel very welcome

Fantastic hotel. Nice people, comfy, quiet, great beds, clean, modern. Great location for exploring, in walking distance of botanical gardens and amazing restaurants. Spice Paragon nearby is the best Thai food I’ve ever had.

I’m sure if you ask them they would put the key somewhere for you
We had no problem with a late checkout. We checked out of the room late and were allowed to keep our car in the parking lot for several more hours. The owners were very friendly and helpful. They gave us restaurant information and a map which showed locations of attractions and distances from the motor lodge. There is no restaurant on premises but several very nice inexpensive restaurants for breakfast within short waking distance.

There is a very affordable shuttle from the airport into town that will drop you at the door. Grant, the very kind owner organized a shuttle to the place where we picked up,our motor home. There is free off street parking abt the lodge. It's a beautiful city. Have a great holiday !
This motel would be ideal if you want just a little bit out. Google it on maps and you will see it can be your 'go to' base/sight. Happy travels. ☺
