Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Large but dated rooms with safe fridge kettle tea selection and dried instant coffee. It’s 15 minutes walk through the park and another 20 minutes to the centre of the town so if you want to be somewhere livelier this isn’t necessarily near the city. So was a bit too far out for us although there are a few restaurants and shops 5 minutes walk away. WiFi constantly cuts out meaning you need to keep logging back on. We did enjoy the outdoor spaces.

This is a pretty property with many details focused on customer service and hotel facilities. The garden is amazing! My compliment goes to Harley who serves us in the restaurant during breakfast. Her team is awesome! Overall a great stay here.

Having stayed in multiple Hilton properties, Chateau on the Park has a distinctly average feel. It is an old property that has been converted into a hotel with all the bells and whistles that one would expect. The gardens are beautiful and the location off Hagley Park is ideal to explore Christchurch from. It is also within easy walking distance of the Westfield Mall and the Riccarton area. Nonetheless, it just didn’t feel like a true 4-5 star residence. The staff were pleasant as was the breakfast bar and the meeting rooms. Overall, distinctly average. Not bad, not great and easily forgettable.

Very close to Hagley Park - Botanical Gardens, Cricket Ground and a short cab ride to Railway station and City Center. The airport is 20 minutes away and away from city center so easy ride. The hotel itself is wonderful - the fresh baked chocolate chip and walnut cookies are addictive. The breakfast was perfect and reasonably priced, the rooms and beds are comfortable.

We had a very clean & comfortable stay here. Excellent service throughout. Only one little blurp, our room air conditioner made a slamming noise off & on all night. Room 202. Oh and the room view was a roof top and air conditioners. So pick a different room for sure. Pool view would be good. The restaurant food was spectacular! Full breakfast, excellent dinner!

Very nice grounds with a nice pond and flowers. The staff at checkin were not very friendly. I got the impression she didn’t enjoy her job. Not use to that at a Hilton facility. The location was great, close to the city center. Restaurant was nice and the staff was professional.

Nice location but hotel needs some work. Shower sprays water all over bathroom floor since the glass only goes half way. Bed was not comfortable and pillows are very firm. Pool closed for unknown period of time, I was looking forward to enjoying the outdoor pool in the warm weather. The gardens were nice. Overall this is my least favorite accommodation of my New Zealand trip so far and I wish that I had chosen somewhere else.

A very nice hotel in a good location. Rooms are nice & beds comfortable. Breakfast & Dinner at the hotel were both very good. It is a large hotel and if you are in the back wing it does take a while to get to the front of the hotel especially with suitcases! A very good stay

Needed a bit of a deep cleaning in the bathroom as well as the tub’s finish was peeling. The shower was very small and not good for a large person. Dinners were good, table pedestals needed cleaning. No one suggested the bar menu , we discovered it on our own, good food. Good location for day trips.

Enjoyed a long weekend getaway to Christchurch for the first time, and as an HH Diamond member decided to give this property a try. First thing of note is the unique design of the exterior that appropriately fits the property's name. The various interiors were a mix of dated and modern ( and perhaps intentional by design). As others have mentioned already, the ponds and gardens are well-maintained and pleasant to walk around. We enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of the Den Bar, while the main dining area was less intimate and lacked any real vibe. The property's location isn't in the downtown area, but you could reach the CBD with an easy 20min walk. As we hired a car, getting around was very easy, plus there is a decent Westfield shopping centre and restaurants a few blocks from the property. Booked a basic room, but it was still a reasonable size and provided the necessary features and amenities. Furnishings were all in OK condition and the electronics were all up to date, including a large screen smart TV, several USB charging ports around the room, mini bar and a kettle. If I had anything to criticise about the room, I couldn't understand why they built such a small shower bay area in such a big bathroom. The property seemed relatively busy during our stay, which might explain why finding a parking spot daily/nightly was a challenge, and also why no room upgrade was provided (as part of Diamond benefits). But other than that, I'd consider calling this place home the next time I am back in Christchurch
