Hotel's Favourite
We really loved this hotel. We arrived after a 30 hour trip from the US and it was the perfect choice. Every employee we saw was friendly, smiling, efficient, professional, and seemed happy with their job and their employers. I called for the shuttle from baggage claim and they pulled up to the meeting point as we arrived so we didn’t have to wait at all. The room was a great size with all the amenities. The bed was very comfortable and the pillows were among the best I’ve ever had at a hotel (and I’ve traveled a lot for work). Plenty of parking if you need it, nicely landscaped grounds, and a quiet area. It is not the cheapest place in town but for us it was worth every penny. After that trip I knew we would need comfort and convenience and we definitely got that here.

We stayed here on 4 occasions (6 nights) during a recent trip to New Zealand. Our experience here was uniformly excellent, beginning even before our arrival when we emailed the hotel to ask for early check because of an early international flight arrival. An immediate email reply assured us that would be fine. When our flight was cancelled, delaying our arrival by one day, another immediate response to our email resulted in a revised reservation. While on the road in New Zealand, I called in to make another reservation and was told the only room available was rather expensive. I went ahead and booked that, but a few minutes later received an email message that a less expensive option had come available and they had switched us to that room. After we left New Zealand, I received yet another email to inquire whether we had left an earring housekeeping found in our room. It wasn't ours, but I was struck by this as one more example of how accommodating are the staff of this hotel.
In person, they were equally accommodating and helpful. A member of the family that owns this hotel always seemed to be present in the common areas and happy to interact an answer questions. One of them went out of his way to make sure we enjoyed our stay. All the front desk personnel were professional and pleasant. The airport shuttle (there are several) seemed to be available immediately on demand, and the airport was only a 5 minute ride away. This was ideal for us, as a base to accommodate our arrival and departure and that of our daughter whose travel dates differed from ours. The hotel has a consistently good restaurant (we are breakfast and dinner there several times) and you can eat outside on an enclosed patio. The rooms are quiet, comfortable and very nicely laid out - two of ours had a balcony out back overlooking a wooded area, birds singing in the morning. The patio is also surrounded by a garden area, and one of our rooms looked out on that. The rooms have all the usual amenities, including a refrigerator and to my surprise a complimentary 240 adapter for those of us accustomed to a different outlet configuration. Complimentary drinks in the evening and the free bus passes for a trip downtown are a nice touch - we made the bus trip into Christchurch several times to enjoy the city and particularly the river walk and the botanical gardens.
Overall, we came to think of the Commodore as our "home away from home" in Christchurch, and would encourage others to enjoy it in that same way.

We stayed here overnight admidst the chaos of the NZ COVID-19 lock down. We were so grateful for the availability, warmth, calm and welcome afforded to us by the staff at the Commodore Airport Hotel. Everyone went out of their way to make us feel cared for and for "business as usual and normal" despite the circumstances and their own personal situations. The staff all put our safety and comfort to the foremost. We also enjoyed a huge well appointed room with extremely comfortable large beds for a reasonable price. The resteraunt and bar are very attractive and the menu options varied and interesting. Once again the staff were attentive and professional and both food and drinks arrived quickly - all of which were delicious. The airport shuttle bus was available on demand 24/7 and our excellent driver, Elliot, was helpfulI and a pleasure to talk to. It was a wonderful relief and respite to have the calm luxury and warm hospitality of the Commodore Airport Hotel available to us. I would recommend absolutely this family run hotel.

They took a $240 security deposit on check in and processed the payment. It has taken me over a week and it still hasn’t been returned. Phone calls from Sydney to the Manager have produced no progress. Most unsatisfactory. Our room had a shower over the bath with a shower curtain - how archaic is that?

Although we only stayed for only one night before our international flight, the service we received was exceptional from the help with our bags and strollers, the quick turn around in bringing milk for our baby, the friendliness of the staff , the free drinks at the bar (we were given a free packet of crisps for our toddler) and the recommendation on pizza delivery (i,e Spagalimis), the quality and abundance of parking and not forgetting the free shuttle pick up/drop off to the car rental and airport. Okay this hotel might not be in the city centre but if you want a good base to explore this region e.g. 2 hours drive to kaikoura - id highly recommend staying at the commodore. Just want to commend staff and management for getting customer service to an exceptional level really understanding the needs of families...and thank you for a great send off leaving New Zealand ,,,,you have made us want to come back again soon and you are more than just an Airport Hotel !!!

Pleasant hotel and spa only about 2 km from airport, which makes it a very helpful starting point in this area or in New Zealand after a long-haul flight. Friendly and helpful staff, excellent coffee and service at breakfast. Free airport shuttle is very helpful and is offered also when you need to pick up your car from the airport. Since we have arrived on an exceptionally cold day, we have appreciated very much that the heating was working although formally it was mid-summer.

My partner and I overnighted here after flying in from Australia, in order to collect a vehicle from the airport the following morning and begin our tourist drive.
We utilised a free shuttle service to and from the airport; this was super convenient and the gentleman driving had superb hospitality.
Our room was nice and spacious, looking out to a nice garden area. The bar and restaurant onsite were both great, offering a relaxed and welcoming feel.
Would definitely stay here again.

We came into supervised isolation at Commodore Airport Hotel to find a superb environment, thoughtful staff and well organised team, comfortable rooms. We loved the kiwi bush and birds (which we fed daily), the birthday cake (sons birthday) and food, the personal giving of items by staff to make the time more manageable. A time of therapeutic rest rather than restricted movement. Wow - 5*’s to the whole team and a big thanks to everyone

I am here for managed isolation and I could not be more impressed with the Commodore. The room is spacious and comfortable. There is a small balcony with native trees outside. More importantly, the staff are amazing! Somehow, they manage to look after everyone staying here, delivering fresh meals to our rooms and readily fulfilling special requests with unflagging friendliness and good humour. I really feel very well looked after!

The business room I stayed in had a frosted glass door. It is private and a good distance from the bedroom area.
Hi I m booked in next week to stay at the Commodore . The hotel is being used as a quarantine hotel. The procedures used by the Hotel are that all people under quarantine will be housed in wings separate from regular guests. No contact will be permitted. The management of the Commodore set high standards and the staff are first class. I hope that you enjoy your stay
