I was down for business and stayed 5 nights, the location is super handy and has dual entrances, one at the front and one on the side, but have after hours swipe card readers for late access.
Reception was clean and tidy and staff super friendly.
I was out on the 12th floor looking out at the Cathedral.
Room was tidy and had good amenities, it was clean but definitely needed a couple of repairs, one being on the corner skirting board, looked like water damage and had a big gap, very noticeable.
I really liked the clean sheets, lots of pillows and comfy bed, the TV was decent and easy to operate.
Small mini fridge with drink selection, but as usual the pricing is ridiculous, $6 for a small 300ml bottle of coke. You are better off going out the side entrance to the store 50 meters away for snacks/drinks.
Comes with Nespresso machine that takes standard pods.

Decent air conditioning unit kept the room warm.

This is one of the few places that their safes are easy to operate and are setup at a decent height.

We had bad weather after day 3 and I got a leak coming in via the top of the window sil, I spoke to reception, they were super amazing and gave me a replacement room a level up which had slight more room.

I ordered room service, burger and waffle fries, yummy but expensive, their onsite restaurant is easy to navigate, I only had the continental breakfast each day, nice but got bored with it by day 3 pretty much the same thing.

Would I return, yep sure will.

We had a lovely night at the Fable Christchurch, very nice welcome drink and fortune cookie for Chinese NY on arrival.. The location is great and I thought the rooms were nicely appointed. The bed is super comfortable and nice toiletries in the bathroom.. Our rate included continental breakfast, which was a small platter of different types of breakfast, a great idea and yummy. Very nice welcoming staff. Would definitely go back.

I chose this hotel because I have often stayed at the Fable in Auckland. That venue is a boutique hotel in Ponsonby with well appointed rooms. This is the former Rendezvous hotel that has been purchased and refurbished by Fable. So the Christchurch Fable is more of a traditional hotel but I cannot help but contrast my stay with the Auckland experience.
The best feature of this hotel is the location. It is just across the road from New Regent Street with its bustling bar and restaurant scene. With Christchurch still suffering from post earthquake damage and empty sections it is great being so close to one of the more interesting streets in town. It is also close to the new cycleway/walkway by the Avon river which is a pleasant place to take an evening stroll.
The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Some were plainly still under training and were a bit nervous. I thought they may have noticed that I am a return customer but that didn't seem to register on the system.
My room was small but comfortable and located on the sixth floor. I was not bothered by any traffic noise. One criticism was that although the bathroom has been refurbished the skirting boards in the room were scuffed and worn. I don't understand why the room has not been repainted. The minibar was subject to extra charges unlike the Fable in Auckland where the minibar is included (not including alcohol).
I ate dinner in the hotel restaurant as I was travelling alone. The meal was very disappointing and this needs to be addressed if this hotel expects to be taken seriously. I was charged $40 for two pieces of panfried fish, some plain couscous, a few carrots and some chopped lettuce. I could have done better myself and I'm not a great cook. This is not five star cuisine. I should have walked to New Regent street.
The complimentary breakfast was small but adequate. I was charged extra for a flat white. Again, this is in contrast to the Fable in Auckland where the breakfast is extensive. I have included some photos.
I wold stay here again because of the location and because the introductory price is favourable but i would not eat at the restaurant.

Whilst I am delighted to know that you will continue to stay with us. I am saddened to read that your stay was not the most enjoyable due to the dining experience. Please accept my sincerest apology if it did not meet your expectations. Fable Christchurch is the perfect location; close to walk into town through the lovely walkways and shops or through the streets with its beautiful street art. The staff are all about you, the guest, so welcoming - loved my drink and special chef treat. My balcony room level 12 had great views. The bed was very comfortable with quality linen and pillows. Room amenities including toiletries were also just that little bit special and the hotel is worthy of its rating. I will be back.

We had a three night stay in a superior king room on the 15th floor, a corner room so we had a view over Christchurch from two windows. Fabulous views, lovely room with a very comfortable bed, good bathroom with a great shower. Very quiet with no disturbance from other guests. The lifts are quiet and fast. The continental breakfast included in our deal was interesting and tasty, the cooked breakfast plentiful and the coffee was very good. Very close to city centre and plenty of restaurants nearby. About a ten minute walk to the Riverside complex. The staff are friendly and helpful, although we had to wait for someone to appear in the bar area on a couple of occasions. Restaurant staff were brilliant. Would happily stay again and recommend Fable to all.

A typical city hotel but none the worse for that. Room was a little on the small side in terms of space for suitcases etc but was well equipped enough. Bathroom had a good shower (no bath). Bottled water in the fridge was very expensive and the tap water drinkable.
There were only 2 lifts which made for a delay waiting for lifts that were then full.
Breakfast was good. Plenty of choice - cereals, yoghurt, cheeses, meats, breads and pastries. We had the continental breakfast and that was enough. Actually felt sorry for the chef doing the cooked breakfast since both mornings we were there we didnt see anyone have cooked breakfast.
Situation is ideal - right opposite New Regent Street and 10 mins walk to the riverfront and shops. Right round the corner from the main tram stop.
Overall a good hotel for a short city stop.

The rooms were well appointed, but were exceptionally small. Sheets are not changed daily, and when our room was made up, several pieces of paper were included in the "made" bed! There are only two elevators in this fairly large hotel, which serve 14 floors. Even if these elevators were not being used by service staff for room cleaning, this capacity falls short of what is needed. The strength of this hotel is a downtown location.

Located close to the main theatre and across the road from the New Regent Street bars and eateries this is a good place to stay in ChCh. Not 5* but well appointed, well serviced, staff all friendly and knowledgeable. The restaurant is a bit austere décor wise - perhaps suitable for breakfasts for a 170 room hotel but not one I'd chose for a romantic dinner. The food and service were fine when we tried it - food and beverages manager on duty that night so service was first rate, our fish and lamb were top class. The menu was reasonable but you may struggle a bit in the mains if you are Vegetarian. Top marks go to James in the Bar - one of the best selection of cocktails we have encountered.

From the moment we checked in to the time that we were leaving all staff were friendly, caring and focused on ensuring our stay was enjoyable.

The room was comfortable, quiet, clean and nicely finished. With the hotel within ten minutes to the shopping and restaurant district it was great to be able to leave the car parked and walk.

If you’re wanting to enjoy a great location, handy to everything whilst not compromising on quality then look no further - the Fable delivers.

I loved the Fable from the time I entered. I was stuck in Christchurch as my car broke down and it was the one place that had the most amazing customer service. Aleisha at the front desk was great to chat to and every other staff member made me feel like royalty!

I really liked the clean sheets, lots of pillows and comfy bed, the TV was decent and easy to operate as was the wifi.

Small mini fridge with drink selection, Nespresso machine, robes and slippers were a nice touch. The air conditioning was decent and keep the room cool and warm when needed.

I ordered room service the first night and absolutely loved the waffle fries, fried chicken and salad and the second night I ventured down to the restaurant and enjoyed a lovely glass of wine, steak, fries and salad.

The only thing that wasn't great was the room was rather noisy on the second night. It sounded like there was someone caught in a pipe and there was banging and clanging with dripping. I guess for a 5 star hotel it could of done with a bit of a renovation in the rooms. The carpet was frayed, bathrooms slightly mouldy and stains on the carpet. From what I heard this hotel is still in the process of being renovated.

Overall this place was amazing! I would definitely return
