Located on Colombo Street, the recent developments in the area make this a well located and convenient hotel. It had innovative heated towel drying rack, and the cleaning was very thorough. I had a great stay in a quiet room, for an excellent price compared to the nearby hotels.

We love City Hotel! The location is a pleasant surprise. It is really right in the middle of shopping streets and supermarket. We had a rental car but we did not use it throughout our stay as it is walkable to shopping areas and restaurants. Parking is at a nearby public carpark. It cost NZD 10 per entry regardless how long we left the car which was more than 48hrs in our case. Upon arrival, we were able to park along the street, dropped our luggage/check-in before parking our car at the off-site building. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was cosy, mattress is comfortable, has lots of tea choices in the room. There is air-conditioning (or heater) depending on the season. We stayed during Sept but it was quite cold at 4 to 8degree. Toilet has heater and toiletries such as shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and hand wash. From the hotel, we could walk to botanic garden and Riverside Market too. We were also able to grab some quick breakfasts at a nearby cafe (1min walk) before our customer visits in the mornings. Really truly enjoyed our stay!

From the moment we arrived and met Sui, we felt important as guests. We asked for the sofa bed to be made up as one of us had contacted a cold from a thoughtless person on the plane with no mask, and the the bed was done immediately, and was very comfortable. The position of the hotel is right in the middle of many restaurants, the car park a short walk away. We heard very little noise from the road, in fact nothing from the hallway with other guests. Then we went to the Rooftop bar/restaurant, what a delight!! The service was outstanding, and very personal. We cannot recommend more highly, and will stay on our next visit to Christchurch.

Great location in heart of shopping district with Riverside Markets 5 minutes away & The Crossing closeby as well however beware the homeless & beggars on the corner - the park bench is constantly occupied 24/7! There's no parking in front of the hotel & no parking valets so you need to find public parking buildings in Hereford St but you can purchase a $10 ticket from the hotel. Be warned though, the overnight rate only lasts until 8am so an early wakeup to shift the car to avoid the normal $4/hr day rate! A very tight lobby leads to 2 lifts and nothing else. We upgraded our room to an upper floor as the 1/F rooms had no views. The room is comfortable with a modern bathroom (glass shower) but none of the usual complimentary items eg. moisturiser, shower cap, etc Puka teabags was a nice touch however the mini fridge had nothing but UHT milk capsules plus the fridge was warmer than the room. There is a restaurant on the roof with views across the city but probably too high end for this hotel with a display wall of iconic wines - Penfolds Grange however it was facing the windows and the sun! The restaurant is stunningly fitted out with designer lighting plus there is a roof deck to enjoy a cold beer. IMO the location is the best attribute but the lack of any usual hotel frills means its average in value.

Great experience. Bed was probably one of the best i had been in. Pillows are perfect. Great shower pressure with no temperature fluctuations like other places. Quiet rooms, could not hear noises from others. Will definitely stay again a+

Booking direct was seamless and easy. Reception was friendly and anticipated our arrival. Great inner city location, rooms warm and quiet. Local parking around the corner at $10 for the night was great value for inner city. Our second stay at this hotel and and will be back.

Nice new Hotel in the centre of the City and some 50 metres from a Tram Stop, so a great location for tourists! The room was very large, well outfitted, and everything worked. The Reception staff were helpful and courteous. The refrigerator was empty except for a number of small cartons of milk to go with the good mixture of sachets for hot drinks. There was nothing much on the TV, but with a good wifi speedd I was able to watch my favourite streaming channels from home. There was no food on offer, but out of the Hotl turn left then left again at the nearby junction, and some 100 metres along the road was the Rockpool Restaurant for breakfast and dinner, plus an Irish pub with great Thai food above open for dinner!

Highly recommend this hotel. We stayed in an ‘inner room’ so no windows, however they have still framed the space and added curtains so the room feels inviting and not like a box. A added bonus was they resulted in absolutely no street noise, excellent for a very central location. Room was large and well appointed with a comfortable bed, large desk and decent sized bathroom. This really is a great hotel, thanks team.

Great city hotel. So very central to everything you need - dining and the tram stops outside. Everything you need within walking distance and if you want shopping - it's all at your doorstep.
The room was very spacious and comfortable. We had one looking out over the city which was really nice. The bed was firm and very comfortable to sleep in. Like a typical hotel room, there was a kettle and cups to make coffee and tea. There was a nice selection of tea (if you are a tea drinker)
The hotel manager was very helpful with suggesting places to eat and where to get the best coffee in town! He also helped us book a taxi for our early morning flight out of Christchurch.
Would return to this hotel any time

We got a bus from the airport to the central city bus station, and it was just a few minutes walk to the hotel. We found the staff at reception to be extremely helpful and pleasant. We were very pleased with our room on the 4th floor, which had a lovely view of the Port Hills. It was spacious and clean, had a great choice of teas, coffee & hot chocolate, a small fridge, very comfortable bed & pillows. We had breakfast in the restaurant on the top floor, which was excellent. The waitress was very friendly and obliging. The decor is magnificent, with the ceiling covered in hanging LED lights, and wonderful views of the Square & Convention Centre, or the Port Hills on the opposite side. This hotel is not a large one, which we appreciated. It is in a great location for strolling around the central city, with plenty of restaurants & cafes, Art Gallery, Art Centre, etc. Will definitely stay here again, when visiting Christchurch.
