We stayed here in Dec 2019. Catching up on writing reviews from pre-covid times...

We stayed here for a night twice and loved it. Stayed in 2 different rooms.

+ beautiful property and amazing rose garden
+ rooms were well maintained
+ exudes of old world charm.. carvings on the walls and roofs including the bathroom, curtains with rose designs, beautiful glasses with some glass paintings, cute dishes and cutlery for breakfast, crystal water jugs, etc
+ nicely decorated with attention to details
+ breakfasts were fantastic with eggs prepared to order, nice espresso / flat whites and homemade sauces, granola, jams, etc
+ warm and welcoming hosts who also suggested good places to eat for dinner
+ walkable to good restaurants
+ heated towel rails and nice shower

- they have a cat and a dog (well behaved) so there are some animal hair in the house. Not too many, but not suitable for anyone with allergy.

We arrived here after a long flight from the UK and Pam & Dennis made us very welcome from the start. Lots of thoughtful touches in our room and in the lounge used for guests. We had the garden room which had easy access to the hot tub - very nice after a long day sightseeing and we had full access to the lovely garden.

Easy to get into town either driving or bus and lots of places to eat within walking distance.

Pam and Dennis were very helpful in helping us to plan our trip around Christchurch and our wider NZ itinerary.

Breakfast was plentiful and delicious and included home preserved fruit.

Our room had everything we needed and was beautifully decorated and furnished. There was a fridge in the room which was great for drinks and snacks and Pam & Dennis were happy to provide ice or anything else we needed.

A very friendly and hospitable couple and a lovely home.

My partner and I chose this place for 3 nights as the beginning portion of our NZ trip. SO glad we did! Pam & Dennis could not be any nicer. I knew as soon as we were greeted at the door that we were in good hands. They were both so friendly, calm and relaxed and that made us feel that way as well.

We stayed in the attic room (watch your head! Angled roof) and the bed, pillows and overall vibe of the room were all top notch. There is a private (not shared with anyone else) bathroom adjacent to the room (you have a short walk down the hall to get to it) that was also lovely. Again, watch your head!

Breakfast was delicious (I don't know where they get their bacon, but it was truly about the best I've ever had) and the setting for the meal was lovely. They know the area very well; feel free to ask for suggestions on what to do, where to eat, etc.

Oh! Ralph! Did I mention him? Their AMAZINGLY friendly dog! SO SWEET! What a love!

Everything was spotlessly clean, the house & yard are beautiful and there is plenty of street parking. NOTE: if you have trouble climbing stairs, stay in one of the main floor rooms.

A great choice! You won't be disappointed!

Pam and Denis's place was fantastic. Very clean and stylish place with everything you needed. In a great location, right near heaps of great places to eat! Pam and Denis were very accommodating and helpful letting me drop our bags off early and checking in on me regularly to make sure I had everything I needed. From providing cups of tea while I worked near the fireplace, to delicious cooked breakfast and even a glass of wine and chat on the day I had with discovering Christchurch to even a 5 am coffee on a Monday morning before my taxi arrived at the Airport. Their hospitality was over and beyond. I would definitely stay here again!

Had a lovely stay in the Attic Room. Delicious hot breakfast cooked to order. They have a cat that stays upstairs mostly and a small dog who is friendly. It is off the main road in a quiet residential neighborhood. There is a hot tub out back. A very comfortable stay.

We visited in early January 2023 and had two rooms here for two nights. What a fabulous place! Pam and Denis are delightful hosts and their little dog Ralph is a treat. The rooms are lovely and the lounge areas very cosy. Breakfast is wonderful and the gardens are a delight to behold. Very well located with easy access to the airport and city centre.

Lilac Rose exceeded all of our expectations. The property is beautiful and Pam and Dennis are friendly and welcoming hosts who made the last night of our holiday extra special. We had booked a twin room and they upgraded us to two separate BEAUTIFUL rooms. Unfortunately, we were only there for a night, so couldn't make the most of this beautiful location - but we can highly recommend the spa! The breakfast was also exellent.

Couldn't recommend this place more, we felt like princesses!

This is truly your home away from home. We have stayed here several times and each time, Pam and Denis welcome us with their warm hospitality. The rooms have so much charm with the most comfortable of beds, luxurious soaps and shampoos and a gourmet breakfast to order. Their B & B is conveniently located to town or the airport.

My dad and I stayed here as were traveling through. The house was beautiful and the hosts were extremely welcoming and friendly. They gave us GREAT recommendations for where to stop on our way from christchurch to queenstown. The home was clean, parking was easy, and the dog was the best part. Would stay here again.

Six of us stayed for three nights. It was absolutely lovely. Authentic hosts, great cooks, soft bed, lovely garden, cute little doggies, spa, and close to heaps of restaurants. Couldn’t ask for a better few nights accommodation.
When we go back we’ll stay again. 👍👌👏🙏
