We booked 219 on John's due to it being in perfect proximity to the airport and because they have the wonderful service of storing your vehicle on their grounds for a week for no charge for e.g if you are going on the plane, or picking up a motorhome and travelling on. The location is also very handy to all of Christchurchs major attractions. From initial booking through to check in were all smooth and the service was very friendly and welcoming. There is a small playground for the children with bbq picnic area and laundry facilities which we well utilized during our stay. Our motel room was spacious, comfortable and quiet with easy parking right at the front door. The beds were comfy, and apart from the conservatory which had considerable mould through it, the rest of the unit was clean and tidy. The down sides, I found the rooms to be a little dim when it got dark, another lamp or brighter bulbs would easily solve and the heater was inadequate for the size of the room too so staying in cooler months overnight it wasn't all that warm. We could have used some extra basic home comforts like a hair dryer etc that the room didn't come with. Otherwise we were quite happy with our accomodation and would recommend to travellers for their stay.

as always our self contained tourist cabin was very clean and tidy. it was a cold wet day and it was warm and cosy. The shower pressure was great. the staff were friendly. and we were happy with the cost. Only thing i would suggest is to maybe put a sign at the goynes turn off so guests know where to turn off the highway. we will be back to stay.

We booked this camping ground for our extended family for a long weekend of family events in the Canterbury region. It was a great location for ease of access to the airport for all the pickups and drop offs and easy to find. It's close to good shopping so we could get the supplies we needed. It is close to a main road but once we were in our cabins we couldn't hear any of the road noise. The staff here are so lovely and helpful! Also the BBQs and kitchen facilities are great to be able to cater for a group. The showers and toilets are clean and spacious and we never had to queue even though the camping ground had the no vacancy sign up.

False advertising. Not pet friendly.
Dogs are allowed into the park, but must sleep in the car (freezing temperatures and they might get stolen).
Dogs not allowed inside cabins.
Not pet friendly at all.

Response from steve c, Owner at 219 on Johns Motel & Holiday Park
Responded 18 Dec 2018
Pet friendly means we allow guests to have pets with them when they stay. Many accommodation places are not pet friendly and do not allow pets on site. Our rules for having pets on site are very clear in our website. Many responsible pet owners who travel with their pets stay at our park and are perfectly happy with the rules we have in place. Our park even has a secure exercise paddock for dogs. We are sorry this did not suit your needs.

I must admit when I booked our accommodation for early January at a camping ground that also has motel accommodation, I was concerned that it might be really noisy. It wasn't! Our accommodation was spot on and only $85.00 a night. It was a peaceful environment, and our bed so comfortable. We had a spare room where at least four or five others could have stay, a lovely kitchen are and wonderful shower. It was easy to visit Christchurch and the surrounding areas like Akaroa and Hamner. We had a lovely time. Much better than an expensive motel room. We will go back next time we are in Christchurch. Friendly hosts.

Arrived just after midnight after a late night flight from Australia and check in instructions were left as promised. Easy to read and easy to follow which was welcome at that time of night.

We had booked a cabin and it was great value for money - one bedroom with kitchenette.

Arriving after midnight I was extremely angry to find that some other inconsiderate person had actually parked in the car park which was allocated to the cabin I had booked and paid for. Turned out it was someone camping next to the cabin. As I had a broken ankle and was wearing a moon boot I found it difficult to unload the luggage and then drive around the park to find a vacant piece of ground to park on. I was travelling with my mother and couldn't ask her to struggle with the bags. The same inconsiderate person actually witnessed me in the morning dragging the bags back to the car down the road and didn't even offer to move his vehicle.

I didn't mention it to management upon check out because I didn't want to make a large issue of it, but I now wish I had, as I think this needs to be controlled by management. I expect if I pay for the cabin that I also have rights to the car park allocated to the cabin and this should be policed.

The lady upon checkout was very friendly with a happy disposition and was very helpful providing information on a café nearby for breakfast.

I would definitely stay here again but I do urge management to enforce and police parking.

We were late arriving due to a flight delay so when we arrived it was well past 9. The hosts had left a key on the door for us with instructions which was great. We stayed in a cabin however you can't park by these so we parked by the entrance of the park and walked there.

As it was late and we had to leave early we went straight to bed. Being bunks it was slightly uncomfortable as we hit our heads several times getting in and out of bed. During the night we had to use the loo however we didn't realise they lock these after 8 so couldn't get in. Made for a very uncomfortable night.

The next morning the check out process as easy and the staff member was lovely.

If you are looking for a cheap place to stay this place is ok however it is a long way out from anything except the airport.

Very impresessed with studio motel. Very clean and facilities excellent. We always opt for the 'more affordable" places in Christchurch as we travel there frequently. We will definitely be making a repeat visit!

219 On Johns was booked based on proximity to airport. We arrived from Melbourne at 12:00am and easily found the hotel after collecting our rental car (turn left at the airport roundabout and keep following the road and it is on your right hand side past the golf resort).

We booked a basic motel, it was basic but the bed was comfortable, the room has really cheap wifi, good TV reception and a nice shower.

Given our late check in, hotel management had arranged for easy collection of our keys, turned the heater on and left the light on.

As we had a 6:00am flight we returned to Christchurch and checked in here the night before. Our family motel unit was one of the best we stayed in while in New Zealand, really surprised us….

We would definitely stay hear again, Belfast has some great food outlets near by, petrol stations and is only five minutes from the airport.

Thank you for providing a great start and great finish to our holiday!
