The price was okay for what you get. When we got in, it smelled of chlorine, like the indoor pools. Which I kinda liked tbh. But that only lasted a 20 mins so must have only just been cleaned. Room was of a decent size, beds were algs, kitchen was fine, water pressure in shower was great. the heating was good and had big windows/sliding door for cooling (was quite cold outside at the time). Staff were very friendly at least and it was next to a mall and grocery store. Everyday they bring new towels, bath mat, and hand towels. But that's where everything goes downhill

The cold water, when poured into a glass out of the kitchenette sink, came out cloudy and mirky, so go back in time 30 mins to pour the glass of water so it's clear for when you wanna drink it. Next, every morning there was condensation all over the windows and getting anything wet that came in contact. The precious lightbulb above the mirror in the bathroom was blown. The heated towel rail's bottom fixing was broken, so the whole thing was swinging round on the piss which was pretty hori. Then the toilet seat was completely cracked as someone before us assumed it was a softclose toilet seat but it slammed down and broke lmao. Room service could've been better, like actually empty the full rubbish bins and give us more toilet paper if you notice one day we're on the last roll instead of us getting halfway thru a crap and realising theres none left and having to ask for more. And providing face cloths would've been nice.

Other than that it was algs.

I had three nights here in early June while attending a conference. The room was smallish but adequate and at the rear of the property so quiet. The heating system was fine for the size of the room and the bed comfortable. I didn't have any luck with the bathroom underfloor heating. Great shower pressure and plenty of towels. Parking is a little constrained but ok. There is a mall about 150 metres up the road with a supermarket and all the usual things. Further up the road are numerous restaurants and shops.
The kitchen was small and not serviced (the dishes I washed were still on the bench when I returned in the evening) but the bed was made. No biggie. Overall handy if Riccarton is your base although it's just a short drive to town.

I didn't have a lot of interaction with staff but reception was friendly.
There is a lot of competition on this strip so I imagine it keeps everyone honest.

While checking my booking details to form this review, I only just noticed that I booked a luxury studio but what I received was far from it! This will now negatively influence this review.
I would usually check my booking before checking in but I'd had a bad start with my Christchurch visit at the car rental counter so wasn't in the best frame of mind at the time. The room at the Majestic was very small indeed and barely had space for the bed and a small table and two chairs. As it was just a single overnight stay, it was adequate, clean and tidy but there's no worse feeling than that of being ripped off. If that was the luxury version, I dread to think what the standard is!!
Disappointing.

This motel is in desperate need of maintenance. We booked the 2 bedroom unit and there were multiple issues. Blinds were broken, spa bath not functional, the bathroom area dirty, lights not working in some areas, furniture well past its best. 3 TVs and not one working when we arrived. They did fix the living room one in the end. The photos shown are nothing like the real thing. Be wary if you decide to book this motel. I'd suggest you check the room before paying any money. Expensively priced for what you get.

Very clean and nice little room
Rung and asked if it was quite and wad told yes. I expected a little road noise but the double glazing in this room was shocking. We had a party across the road and was told this happens frequently, got to sleep at 4am the only to be woken at six because the curtains are only a lining. We visit chch frequently and was very disappointed with the motel.

Booked online for a good price, room was nicely appointed however pillows were a bit thin and hard. Awoken at midnight and 2.00am by a guy next door coming onto the balcony to tell his partner how good he was, so much for double glazing it was like he was in our room. To top it off the shower had no hot water, a cold shower is no fun when it is 0 degrees outside.

I hadn't stayed here for quite a while after a bad experience last time but with the change of ownership, thought I'd give it a go. I shouldn't have done that. After checking in on a cold night, I switched on the heater and nothing much happened for ages. As a result, I reckon I got the chills and now have woken up this morning with a cold. It turns out that I needed to have turned the temperature up to 40 degrees as to quote my host 'it is very slow' and then I turn that down. Sheesh. How this is a modern convenience. And, like last time, the internet was terrible. Very frustrating as I had a number of scheduled business calls on Skype. So, all in all, a terrible stay and I won't be back again. Don't get me started on the size of the room. Feels like I've been sent to gaol for doing wrong. And then throw in random drop outs of the TV where the screen just goes blank and what a waste of energy it is to stay here.

We were lucky enough to secure the last room. This was a very clean and tidy motel.

The receptionist was very friendly and helpful and explained everything very clearly.

Our room was comfortable and tidy. After being on the motorcycle for a long period of time.

Good for a night but let down by poor TV channels and WiFi. If that doesn't bother you go for it.

Let me start by saying that being a business traveller in usually in hotels not motels. Hence, I'm trying to rate this as a motel.

Initial impression was ok. Decent greeting after finding the right side of the complex, the other side seems to look the same but be a different motel. Staff seemed a bit shy but no problems with check in.
Room was very clean. Average size and I had been upgraded to a spa equipped unit. All the usual accompaniments including soap etc, plus a few extras like make-up remover (not me).

Sky TV want good. Most channels didn't work, but enough to scrape by. Just don't plan to watch any movies as they were not to be found. Wifi allowance was generous (3GB) but speed was so poor it couldn't be used for Web browsing let alone Netflix.

Good spa and nice shower.

Comfy bed and I liked the pillows.
