Detailed Reviews
Hi,
We (my wife, kids and I) stayed at Moa Cave and hated ever minute.
The rooms are tiny, the surroundings are ridiculous, no caves except for
some random pathetic hole in the size of a small dog in the side of the cliff the property backs up agains. It sits on a main road making it nosey and ridiculous to access.
The owners are rude, arrogant, obnoxious and downright dishonest people.
The recent Earth quake in Christchurch they advised they would not refund monies to those who had already booked..... this is just a small example of how dishonest these people are.
DO NOT STAY AT MOA CAVES.

Response from MoaCave, Owner at Moa Cave Guest House
Responded 10 Apr 2012
This group is known to us. They booked the complete property and as a result of how they treated our property, we sadly had to make a decision never to have similar groups again There was little respect shown by them. Also items were taken, that were never returned despite our courteous and patient attempts (which were ignored) to obtain them back, The writer of the review is a male. We never meet him or had dealings with him, therefore how can this man pass judgement on our attitudes?. We were always courteous and friendly in any dealing with the lady that made the booking and when their group arrived. The lies in the content and tone of his vindictiveness are more of a reflection on himself than us. Maybe there were other parts of their trip which did not work out as they had hoped, and we have taken the rebound. As a matter of interest and correction, there is a very large public cave right outside our property and within 15 metres of the boundary. It is called Moa Bone Point Cave, hence the reason for our name. If he was actually with the group he would have noticed this cave. We have had many satisfied Guests over the 7 years we have operated successfully. Quite a few who have returned more than once, and comment on the cleanliness and presentation of our rooms and the friendliness of our manner in making them feel welcome. We have now stopped trading due to earthquake damage, but as a matter of principal needed to address the clear misrepresentations made in this review. To all our other Guests who we valued, we thank you for being a part, of and adding something special to our lives over the last 7 years.
