This place is great value for money, close to everything and really clean. Beds super comfy, staff are really welcoming and helpful. The room is large, there was four of us and we were able to sit comfortably in the living room.

The rooms are spacious and equipped with a kitchenette, dining and living area and bedroom. The reception staff are helpful. The bus stand is right outside the gates of the premises and is a stoppage for bus no.28 which connects to the bus terminal and inter state bus connections. Highly recommended.

This was the worst of the eight hotels or motels that we stayed at during 21 days in New Zealand. The front desk or reception closes at 6 pm and breakfast served against payment is nothing but a joke. we lost some of our personal items, not sure if that was taken away during our absence Highly re commend to avoid this hotel.

Be very careful when booking. Some rooms offer refundable cancellation, others do not.
This is complicated .
First, when I submitted and advised my credit card details to the City Centre Motel via Booking.com, I received a message that the room was no longer available. Wishing to ensure I got a place to stay in Christchurch I booked at another motel. It was late at night and I then went to bed.
When I checked my emails the next morning I found that my booking at the City Centre Motels had in fact been confirmed. This was a surprise . It also meant I had two bookings for the same nights in Christchurch. At the same time, when checking my bookings, I realised that, quite by mistake, I had booked the rooms for 2 nights a week later than intended. When I realised my mistake I immediately tried to cancel both rooms. The second motel was fully sympathetic and initiated the cancellation without a charge. The motel always has the discretion to waive the cancellation charge. However, the management of City Centre Motels refused point blank, even though two upcoming events in Christchurch would have easily filled the room. The management I spoke to were unsympathetic, obstinate and totally unhelpful. I will never look at them again.
It is a big concern that one can submit a booking, get a message that the room is no longer available, yet find out the next day that not only has it been confirmed but that it cannot be cancelled without paying the full charge for the time booked. I suggest Booking.com ask themselves whether they want City Centre Motels as a customer.

Stayed one night in a ground floor studio - plenty of room, sunny patio for breakfast outside, everything we needed plus very generous continental breakfast. Very quiet. Staff friendly and helpful when we had a medical problem.

Two night stay in a spotlessly clean upstairs unit, with off street parking. Great location for being able to walk in to the city.
Walls of the unit pretty thin so you can hear everything.
Woken in the middle of the night (after midnight) by other guests returning and carrying on their evening both in their unit and outside-much noise (not the owners/managers fault.)

Nice clean room with good facilities. Really excellent price. Lovely grounds and located away from traffic noise. Owner friendly and efficient. Unlimited internet
Have no real complaints. Other customers in adjacent unit made noise at 2 am but this seemed to be dealt with and can't really be considered the owners fault

I got the best deal by booking directly through City Centre Motel. Reception was welcoming and very helpful. Upstairs one bedroom unit was spacious and very clean. Beds comfortable with electric blankets.Heating via a wall heater warmed the unit quickly. Kitchen facilities more than adequate. Handy location.I would not hesitate to stay here again.

A friendly receptionist at check-in. Thanks for helping to carry my extra load to my room. The heater worked as did the electric blanket and the bed was comfortable. Tea, coffee and milk were available. The bathroom was clean with a good shower. Clean and tidy and suited an overnight stay. Need some strong lighting for the stairs leading up to the room.

Liked that it was close to some eateries as I had no car. Tried the Gold Aroma Cafe and the food and warm service there was very good.

Besides we have staff stay in the property 27/7 to make sure no break ins or such case occur. We do not have the safe box provided in the room. but we are more than happy to keep your valuable items in the safe in our back office when you are out for sight seeing and we can ensure they will be safe until you collect them. If you are walking from the motel at 876 Colombo Street to 430 Colombo Street then, as already mentioned, it is flat easy walking for those who are young in legs or young in heart. The distance will be about 2.5 km (3 km by road vehicle due to the one-way street system). The walk would take you right through Cathedral Square (the city centre where the cathedral remains still stand). The Honeypot Café at 458 Colombo Street is close by to 430 Colombo Street if you need to refresh yourself after the walk or buying up large on CDs/DVDs. If you go online to the Christchurch Metro website you will be able fill in details of where you want to travel from and to with your bus trips and get the timetable information. Unfortunately Trip Advisor do not allow the inclusion of website links so I had to remove the one I included to assist you. The main city bus terminal is located very close to the "Re-Start Mall" (cargo containers being used as shops/cafes) behind Ballantynes Department Store. This is bounded by Colomobo, Tuam and Lichfield Streets. Once there you can go in any direction that meets your plans. There is a hop-on/hop-off sightseeing tram that does a circuit and has one of its terminals by the Re-Start Mall. That is an interesting ride as you also get the commentary in addition to seeing some of the earthquake results and rebuild. Hope the earth doesn't move for you.
