This was a super awesome property reasonably close to Christchurch city. The conservatory is out of the world, with a curving staircase, lots of plants and a really cool indoor pool. There’s also a spa pool in the garden outside, but please be careful as we went past the 9pm time and the doors were locked on us, which made for a pretty funny situation. We stayed in the library room, which had a stair case to an upper floor with a library, tv and seating which was really beautiful. The bed was big and comfortable. Our only complaint was that the air con would make a funny buzzing noice every 10 minutes or so, but all in all it was a fantastic stay at a beautiful property. Would stay again for sure

This is a truly gorgeous place to stay on a very quiet street in Christchurch - close to to some lovely restaurants and bars. My room was divine, very large and welcoming. Warm and all of the interiors were just stunning. There is a very private spa in the back garden, in fact so private you almost miss it. A lovely place to sit on a winter's evening while you watch the stars above. I would highly recommend this as a safe haven if you are travelling alone or it also looks like the perfect place to stay for a special getaway. Linen was all of a very high standard and bed was super comfortable. I stayed in the conservatory room. I will most be back!

What a lovely place to stay. We had the Workshop room which was a large room with gorgeous decor. Great host. Highly recommend this place. We felt privileged to be able to spend a night here. We felt relaxed and welcome.

We have terrible experience for The Britten Stables via AirBNB booking. They provided no service and no breakfast. They promised some food like milk, fruit however we found they were all over date. We released our good will after check out and gave them good rank. After 10 days-many guests used, they commented our kids do not postion toys into its location. They are trying to challenge us not washing the plate by photo not related. Not recommend this building altough the design is good.

We stayed at The Britten Stables, in the library room for a night, what a amazing property! My partner and I followed the TV show Grand Design, and we were keen to check it out in person. There’s definitely a wow factor when walking in. Well priced, well located. We’ll definitely be back. Thanks again for having us

My husband and I stayed here for one night with our 3 children, in the Library and Observatory rooms. One night wasn’t enough though, we didn’t want to leave and absolutely loved the rooms so much. We have a holiday home rental ourselves in Tasmania, but the level of service, detail and thoughtfulness Tim and Isabelle provide here is inspiring! We have stayed at a lot of nice places all over the world but this is definitely in my top three!!

Our 2 night stay was a surprise gift for my husband's birthday. Being a keen motorbike guy and knowing the Britten story quite well I thought this would be a hit.....and it was!! But not just for him but for me as well. This place did not disappoint. We stayed in the Garden Views Suite courtesy of an upgrade - thank you! It was a real treat - the decor, the comfy bed, the beautiful linen, the extra touches - like breakfast with fresh baked bread. We also enjoyed reading the beautiful coffee table book about the Britten story and having watched Grand Designs programme it was so great to experience The Stables first hand. Everything made this stay special and I highly recommend this lovely place - so beautifully restored and renovated. Thank you for having us!

This place is an absolute gem. Better than any hotel or motel. So quaint and very special. A real credit to the owners on the transformation of this incredible piece of history. Your dad would be so proud.

Britten Stables The property itself was lovely but the facilities were a let down for what was supposed to be a high end B & B. The booking site listed the room as being serviced daily but this was not the case. We only discovered this after our dirty dishes and left over food from an extra service ordered at a high cost were not removed after 24 hours. If we wanted daily servicing of our room, we had to pay an extra $30.00. We had to take the dirty dishes back to the proprietors ourselves. During our 4 night stay, the tea, coffee, milk and jar of muesli provided for breakfast were never replenished. We had to purchase our own milk, coffee, etc. and there was no fridge in the room. The coffee mugs provided also did not fit in the coffee maker. To top it off, the only bin was a small 4” tall basket in the bathroom downstairs that fitted about three tissues in it. The bed was made by us every day as well but the towels were changed once in the 4/5 days we stayed there. The soundproofing also left a lot to be desired. This B & B is supposed to be unique and charges are listed on their site as $220 per night for the room we stayed in, so we expected a higher standard than what we got. As we had made a special trip from Australia purely to stay in this establishment after seeing it on a TV show, we were very disappointed.
