My sister and I stayed here for two weeks as we were visiting our friend in Burwood Hospital. We could not have hoped for a better place to stay. The room was spotless, fresh towels every day, plenty of tea and coffee,very comfortable bed, modern TV and a nice large shower that was cleaned every day. The gardens too are kept beaufifully and we enjoyed sitting outside until we got chilly and returned to our well heated room. On top of this Val and Dave made our stay so much easier by being so friendly and welcoming. We were there under hard circumstances and they assisted us with lifts ( all the time!) and a good chat at the end of a hard day. It was a home away from home and Val was a mum away from mum! Facing finding alternative accommodation for four weeks while our house was undergoing earthquake repairs we looked around and chose Avon City Motel. We were attracted by its character, the easy access to the units and the garden ablaze with colourful flowers. We were made to feel very welcome by Val, the co-owner and given the opportunity to view the units and choose one we felt would meet our needs. Val dealt efficiently with our arrangements. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Avon City Motels - the fresh, clean towels, etc daily, the complimentary newspaper, the cleaning, and the chocolates; the regular vacuuming and bed linen changes, but most of all the friendly atmosphere. I had to find last minute accommodation for a business trip and the Avon City Motel was booked on short notice. They went out of their way to accommodate me even when my plane was delayed for 3 hours and I arrived at 3:30 in the morning. The unit was spotless clean and I had a great sleep. Val was polite and friendly and made the stay an absolute pleasure. I had a better stay here than in some 5 star hotels. Many thanks for the great service which made my stay a real pleasure.

Thank you very much for your positive review, Doug. We think that it is important to make people feel welcome on arrival even when it is 3.30am and no-one is up to greet them. Leaving a welcoming note on the unit door, having a light on in the unit as well as a heater or electric blanket on if necessary and a small treat of biscuits or chocolates are things guests appreciate. Being a smaller owner/operated motel, we can offer a more personal service than larger establishments, ensuring the guest leaves totally satisfied. We look forward to seeing you again Doug. This was a last minute booking which turned out to be perfect for attending a wedding nearby. The unit was spotlessly clean with a fully equipped kitchenette, plenty of tea and coffee on hand and fresh milk, and a heater for guests from warmer climates, and a beautiful garden. Strange that hotel booking websites had this motel full on the dates we wanted, whereas the Avon City's own website had vacancies - always worth checking.
