Detailed Reviews
The motel is ideally located at only 10 minutes by walk from the railway station, which is very good when taking the Tranzalpine early in the morning (as in our case). On top of that it’s close to supermarkets and not far at all from the city center.
Staff is very welcoming and didn’t hesitate to explain us how to move in the city.
The rooms are very big, super modern and clean and very well equipped. Honestly we couldn’t ask for more!

We’ve stayed here twice now, the rooms are clean and comfortable and the owner friendly and welcoming.
Before booking again though, we’d check the weather forecast. The rooms have a scope heater but could really do with aircon or at least a fan of some sort. During our most recent visit we sweltered through the night following a day where the temperature reached a high of over 30degC.

Thanks for your feedback - sorry you came when it was SO HOT and my wish list is to have aircon in all the rooms. I do have fans so sorry we didn't communicate better on that one! Glad you enjoyed your stay again and hopefully those 30deg temps will be rare!

We enjoyed our stay here. They were friendly and very helpful and we definitely appreciated the free shuttle to the rail station for our 89 year olds in the morning. The unit was clean tidy and well equipped.

The motel is quite near the train station so this place is handy if you’re either getting on or off the Coastal Pacific. I believe there is a free shuttle service to the train station but we didn’t know in advance so just walked there from the station. There’s a few places to eat nearby and food shop within 10/15 minutes. The laundry on site is useful and the room itself had a reasonably well equipped kitchen for the two of us. The room itself may have needed an upgrade, the carpet was pretty bad with lots of stains, the couch was worn and there was a damp smell in the place. The place had been cleaned but not quite as well as I’d hope for. The motel itself is on a main road - we couldn’t hear road noise overnight but our room was set back from the road quite a bit. It’s a 10 minute walk and then bus into the centre if you don’t have a car. It’s about a 10 to 15 minute drive. We did the tram and earthquake museum whilst in Christchurch, both were really good and informative.

Thankyou for your comments. Pity you weren't aware that I am happy to collect guests from the train if I know in advance that is how you are arriving - my website does indicate this but nevertheless we are only a 10 minute walk away. We do our very best to have our rooms cleaned as well as possible and try hard with the carpets. There is one room where I may have a damp smell from under the kitchen bench and will address this when time permits. I do hope you enjoyed your stay in Christchurch.

Chose accommodation as motel advertised being closest to the railway station AND free pick up and drop off for passengers on the Tranz Alpine and Coastal Pacific, which my girlfriend and I did. This is clearly not the case as we were informed by the motel that a transfer back to the train station was not available on our 2nd stay. While it was only a $6 fare to the train station and we were happy to pay this, the motel is clearly offering a service to attract guests but decides when it will and won't offer this service. False advertising indeed!
Another American couple staying also had to catch a taxi and felt exactly the same as we did.

Sorry there was a problem with the railway transfer - this is the first time that we have been in a position where we could not offer a free ride due to staff illness and it was only for a few days. Ii was unfortunate that you were staying just at the time when we could not offer our usual free rides to and from the station - apologies

The room was clean and nicely furnished with parking directly out the front of the unit.
The motel has a very reasonably priced guest laundry and good fast internet.
However the host makes this place a cut above the rest as she even got up at 6.30am to give us a free transfer to the railway station to catch the Coastal Pacific.
Great service and highly recommended.

We stayed here for 2 nights at the beginning and end of our West Coast trip. Great place, handy location to the railway station (although the train wasn't running). Both units were very clean and comfortable with good showers. One unit unfortunately was right by the pump which went on and off all night.
We ordered the continental breakfast which was lovely and very ample... so much that we ordered just one for the last morning and our host gave some extra bread for toast.
It was no problem for our host to order taxis for us.
A great place to stay and within walking distance of the Speights Alehouse.

Very comfortable and spotlessly clean rooms with everything you need. Superbly located for the Tranzalpine and Coastal Pacific trains. Owner Phyllis goes over and above with the free drops off to the station at 6.30am/7.30am in the morning - all delivered with a smile on a dark and chilly June morning! I would definitely recommend Tower Junction motel to travellers to Christchurch. Thanks Phyllis.

We were in town just for one night, before taking the morning train to Greymouth, We selected this hotel due to proximity to the station. It was absolutely fine-no issue with the room or amenties or check-in. The lady at reception, who may well have been the owner, could not have been more helpful with advice. She also ran us down to the station in the morning. If you need a hotel near the station, this is a great choice.

We drove mainly as we were moving around a lot. There are buses but you need to check hee time what time it arrives as it takes quite awhile. In any case it’s pretty convenient. If you want to drive to town and park, parking is abit if a challenge. But best to ask Phillis and Jerry they are very helpful and informative, have a great time in NZ. You and your family will love it.
Taxi will cost between $30-45 but there are plenty of shuttle services, try AirNZ taxis website to get started. Need to leave about 1.5-2 hours before that depending on who you use. Taxi would be quickest. you should be fine with luggage.
