Detailed Reviews

A must have been there for a (eco-)tourist. A great place to be. We stayed the first night in the truck house and the next night in the Yurt. Everything so clean and very well taken car of. Perfect beds, solar heated shower and compost toilet. In the middle of beautifull nature. The owners are so friendly and made us feel very welcome. We loved everything about this very special place. Go there and experience it yourself !

We love staying at Okuti Garden - it is our favourite place out of over 100 locations we have visited in New Zealand. We book Bronwyn, the delightful truck with wood panel interior, a view of the pond and the donkeys and a perfect place to relax and unwind. The property has several unique features including a solar shower, wood burner-heated outdoor bath, outdoor oven and trampoline and both yurts and teepees if they take your fancy. Great hosts and a lovely atmosphere.

So loved staying in the yurt in this magical, abundant lush garden. Donkeys and sheep in the field and the friendly family dog, Nutmeg roaming around. Loved cooking in the gorgeous garden kitchen and showering in the garden shower overlooking the trees and veg garden. Very warm welcome from owners Jim and Jane. Would love to stay again and try a teepee next time!! Great place if you like living on the land and don't want to lug a tent around with you.

We stayed at Okuti Garden for several days. A little slice of heaven! The owners, Jim and Jane are warm welcoming, helpful and wonderful people! The place is filled with their care and love of the land, gardens, animals and guests! It is a beautiful and peaceful sanctuary in nature. The quiet and relaxed ambiance makes it a great resting place and also a good base from which to explore the beautiful banks peninsula. it was hard to leave!

I spent a week a this gorgeous eco stay facility. The location is truly beautiful with interesting walks and places of interest within easy reach. Accommodation is a choice of tepee, yurt or house truck. The most original place I stayed in New Zealand. Highly recommended for those with a concern for the environment.

Just by coincidence i stopped at Okuti Garden and was immediately engaged by the beauty of the place. It is hidden in the "mountains" close to little river (where you have to visit and taste the bakery of River Cafe - it's a must-do) surrounded by bushes and trees with a great look on the Bank Peninsula Hills, very quiet and cosy, with an nice open kitchen and as well an open shower with free wood view. You can't better taking a shower after a hard hike or bike tour. I stayed as well in the truck and loved it too. I had the best sleep during my NZ tour and so decided to stay 3 days and do day trips from there. The owners are very lovely and i would definitely stay again here when i will return to Bank Peninsula.
