Great value
Always to be remembered
We brought a group of 6 year 8 students for a final time together before going to high school.
From this trip we will always have great memories
I can only imagine the place to be perfect for weddings where the key people stay on in the acomodation after the proceedings

This is situated in a pretty spot in the Okuti Valley and this property definitely suits it surroundings. Amongst it are a few yurts and tipis which provided a unique experience. It's not luxurious so if you don't like going camping style then this may not be for you. There was enough room for two adults and two kids in the large yurt. Clean and comfy. It didn't get too cold in it. Hot water bottles provided. Bring warm clothes for the morning though. There is an outdoor kitchen with gas stoves and utensils. A common room with lots of games and toys and a log burner too. A trampoline and outdoor games, donkeys, pigs and the garden in general kept the kids amused for hours. The hosts were lovely and accommodating. There was a little shower unit outside which was fed by what looked like solar hot water but it only had warmish water. Quick showers! It wouldn't stop me from going back again because overall it was a beautiful and wholesome getaway for a couple of days.

So on my bucket list for a long time has been clamping. I have seem it adveise numerous times and wonder what it was like. Well, while I was in New Zealand I had the opportunity to try clamping with my daughter and grandchildren. It my sound strange, but my daughter arranged that I had a clamping "yurt" in close proximity to certain things, while her "yurt" with the children were tucked a little further back, I liked that because at times my grandchildren would "come to visit" me in my clamping tent.
It's a short walk up a small hill but had some very nice views. Just a few yards away was the tepee tent which the visitors were very quiet there. On one side, just a few yards away were two very large pigs that were well behaved and you didn't hear them until they morning at their feeding time.
I have to mention that they have a caravan that you can rent for your stay to sleep in and it is just really neat even from the outside.
Now, we all live in houses and have bathrooms and so does Okuti Gardens but you have your choice. Seriously, there is a modern day bathroom in the game/music room with shower or you have your choice to use the composte facility. The enclosed game/music room is where you can charge your cell phones, etc but it does take a while.
There is an open air game room which is great for evening games with the kids or if they are young enough they can enjoy the trampoline just for them.
The open air shared kitchen is just as quiet when you are by yourself. Yet at the same time when you are sharing it with other "clampers" it's enjoyable too because you get to meet new and interesting people, Just kind in mind that your refrigerator goods are a few yards away in the computer shed (although no computer is in the shed) You can also charge your cell phones, etc if there is an outlet plug available.
Now, if the weather is super nice and you need a shower, you can try the outdoor solar shower. It was still a little too chilly for me to try that but I'm sure it was interesting.
Three of the things that stick with me are: the "fairy lights" that come on as night time falls and stay on till late. The choice of candlelight or flashlight in the "yurt" and the hospitality of the owners Jane, James and Jim. They work at making this such a wonderful place to go and distress.
Oh! and d[[[[on't be afraid of the dog. He is a gentle as can be.

Our family had an amazing time at Okuti Garden and can't wait to return for more peace, quiet and total relaxation. The garden was gorgeous - with little rooms under trees for relaxing in, fairy lights and lanterns when darkness set in. We slept in a spacious, beautiful yurt which had the most comfortable beds. We were woken by bird song and braying donkeys.
Our children spent each day exploring the trees, garden, around the lake, talking to the donkeys, bouncing on the trampoline, playing the piano.
Okuti Garden was wonderful, thanks Jane, Jim and James for having us and creating such a beautiful, eco friendly haven.

I am sooo glad we have found this place. It is absolutely awesome. The yurt we stayed in was very spacious, clean and has comfy beds (even warm water bottles were provided). The hosts are very welcoming and helpful and you can tell they put all their love into this place. Their dog is adorable and very playful. We were lucky enough to have two sunny and warm days so we cold experience the outside solar shower, the rustically outside kitchen and other outside seating areas. The place is very handy to start the Little River trail bike ride and if you wish you can book yourself in for a relaxing Hawaiian massage. For sure I will recommend this place to others and I am looking forward to stay there again :)

I came here with my best friend for my birthday this year and loved every second of it. Beautiful piece of land, cute and friendly pets and total relaxation. We stayed in the lower yurt and it was amazing. Super comfortable, it felt as if you were in a hotel room. Although it didn't have power, there are plenty of tealights supplied that create a great ambience. Really welcoming people who run the place as well, happy to give you a tour if you wanted. The outdoor kitchen was a lovely touch, had all the facilities needed to make ourselves dinner and eat outside while enjoying the great views of the surrounding mountains. Highly recommend checking this place out! I can't wait to come back.

Had an amazing time staying here and feel so relaxed and refreshed even only being away for one night. The grounds are beautiful and have so many little quirky areas and the hosts are lovely (including the animals). Would highly recommend, such a great concept and a lovely place to be.

An eco-aware homestay, fabulous gardens, a tranquil setting to escape the world.
You can sleep in a teepee, Mongolian yurt, house truck, earth-brick cottage or farmhouse. Fresh herbs from the garden and lovely shared kitchen. Beautifully designed communal areas.
We stayed in the house truck which was surprisingly comfortable.

A real gemstone of a place set in beautiful surroundings a little off the beaten track just before Little River. We were part of a wedding party 20 strong who stayed for 2 nights. The surroundings were absolutely beautiful. The Yerts were surprisingly spacious and the beds were very comfortable. Various other modes of accommodation are also available.
The amenities are completely in keeping with the ECO friendly surroundings.
The owners James and Jane were extremely friendly and very helpful.
The outstanding time for me was waking up to the birds singing as daylight broke.
It is a place I will definitely return to.
