We were looking for something a little different and Okuti Gardens provided it. The yurts are a wonderful space to sleep in. The "outdoor" shower (or the shower with a view) is great. The common kitchen area is basic but adequate. The outside garden is lovely. Okuit Gardens is simply a nice spot to stay and chill. Thoroughly recommend.

We only spent one night there which was much too short. The minute I saw the gardens I felt relaxed and calm and had to stay. Our hosts Janie and Jim's 'mission’ to create lovely spaces can be seen in every area, we stayed in house truck as the yurt we wanted was already booked. Their meadows, woods and organic vege gardens are so beautiful. It would be the perfect setting for a workshop or retreat we must return. Thank you for creating such a special place! p.s. Janie was braiding beautiful organic garlic for sale while we were there.

A fabulous place. Yurts, teepee, .If you need WiFi there is plenty of coverage, but some of the Yurts are Wifi free zones. That is just great. Jane and Jim are fantastic hosts and the location is so tranquil.

We had a magical stay at Okuti Garden last week. The place is located on the Banks Peninsula, close to Little River, and therefore away from the crowds at Akaroa. The garden and teepee/yurts/cottage are very well maintained, and there are lots of activities for kids (animals, little pond with a boat). So an overall perfect experience, which I can recommend highly.

Jim and Jane have created a magical escape in the Okuti Valley near Little River, Canterbury. By the nature of the accommodation - yurts, a tepee and a house truck, it is basic but very comfortable. The gardens are beautiful and the hosts very welcoming. As a spot for relaxing or to get away from it all for a few days I highly recommend this. A great break in a unique environment.

Our family had a wonderful, sunny time at Okuti garden. The children loved the animals, the boat on the lake, the trees, the trampoline and the donkeys. The setting is just gorgeous, the bird life is only matched in the NZ bush. I loved the solar shower, however I felt very exposed and someone accidently walked in! Others could easily look in if they walk pass. The kitchen facilities are very basic with a trickling tap in the open. They have a very small fridge down the hill in a shed and you have to walk up the hill side to wash your dishes. I don't think I would enjoy Okuti garden much if the weather was inclement. However, the weather was gorgeous so we loved it.

WOW! Where to start..... Worlds to describe this place are Magical, Fairytale, Peaceful, Nature, Wildlife, Quirky, Paradise, Sunshine, friendly, laid back, beautiful, gardens, flowers, bumble bee's, sheep, donkeys, bird-song, colors, hide-away, yuts, tipi's, tents, homely, generosity, unique experience........ I could go on but really you just have to visit and see how wonderful this place is for yourselves :) Also make sure you take advantage of their outdoor wood-fired bath tub. We did and sitting under the stars at night-time listening to the wind blowing in the trees and the lambs in the distance was truly magical.

Visited Okuti during the off-season and can't wait until it opens up in a few months to truly experience the place- If you want to get away from the breakneck, high-octane pace of Christchurch, then look no further than this little slice of paradise, near Little River. James, Jane and Sol provide an altogether alternative and nurturing environment for the traveller to kick back and enjoy the surroundings and tranquillity, nestled in the Okuti valley. Don't come here expecting modern conveniences and fancy duvets. Do come here if you want to do some good to your head, stay in a Yurt and get back to some organic basics. All in all, it's a wonderful experience. Oh, and by the way, Jane makes the best home-made soup and bread.

We loved glamping at Okuti. Beautiful gardens and the kids thoroughly enjoyed it. Rail trail just down the road and Little River village is lovely. Clean and a wonderful experience. Loved the yurts! The kids loved the donkeys and there is a pond with a boat the children enjoyed. Will be back.
