Rustic accommodation in a beautiful valley with friendly hosts. If you like camping but prefer not to blow up your own bed or put up your tent, this is for you. The beds are provided in cute yurts, a teepee or a house truck. Cooking facilities are a well appointed outdoor kitchen with gas hobs and a BBQ available. Excellent drinking water is piped directly to the kitchen from a spring. The solar shower provides plenty of hot water for comfortable shower with a view. The garden is gorgeous with many quirky touches, even a lake with a boat, and the hosts Jim and Jane are friendly and welcoming.
If you must stay internet connected, WIFI is provided and there are plenty of places to visit nearby, including "world famous in NZ" Little River gallery.
For me, it could have done with a better sign posting to the office (it took a bit of a search to find a proprietor when we arrived), and more toilets (two were fine until the crowd of 12 turned up, then two were not enough!) I also wasn't keen on the biting insects, though they seemed to like me well enough.
These were minor irritations in a lovely few days though, all in all I thoroughly recommend this glamping experience.

I would never have considered staying at an 'Eco-lodge' but this place is great.
Super friendly hosts, amazing scenery, peaceful and beautiful gardens.
The facilities are simple, clean, well maintained, and sustainable.
Time has been taken to ensure all accommodation has great outlooks, being surrounded by nature really helps. Most of the accommodation is nestled amongst the trees but dotted around the gardens to make sure everyone has their own space.
My daughter and I stayed in a yurt (well worth doing, you're not 'roughing it' in the slightest.. It was fantastic. Yurts, teepees, and other options available. Comfortable beds with clean bedding, towels provided. The gardens have a few communal facilities that are beautifully arranged, but there are many little spots where you can make yourself comfortable, settle down with a book and completely unwind. J & J take all the stress away as soon as you arrive with a tour of the facilities. Its just an amazing place to visit and relax in.

We stayed in a yurt for 2 nights, and a friend stayed in the tipi. It is such a beautiful place, we really liked the open-air kitchen, the gardens, the setting, everything. The hosts were really friendly but also left you to relax. I had the most amazing massage too. I would love to go back and spend longer there.

We got there on the 31st of December and spent two nights in a yurt that was so secluded and charming and just pure magic!
Loved every bit of the place. The trees, Tammie the pooch, the outdoor shower, the living space eith board games! Just everything!
It was so romantic!
And the owners of the place were full of smiles! They were wonderful!
If you want a getaway that is full of peace and calm and a bit of a "glamping" kinda experience. This is your place!

My partner and I stayed here one Saturday night just before they took the tipis etc down for the winter. We had a yurt and it was the most amazing relaxing experience. We got there in the dark and couldn't see where to go so we had to drive back out towards Little River to get reception to call them and get them to meet us at the carpark. Probably could be a bit more signposted for this reason. Then once we got inside it was perfect. It started raining during the night but with the hardwood floor and plenty of blankets provided it just added to the experience. Next time we will stay in the tipi! We wil be back.

I stayed in the House Truck for one night while working in Christchurch in early October. Jane made me feel very at home and the whole place is just lovely. If you like the photo's of their place on Trip Advisor, you can't go wrong and you will have a fabulous time.

We only stayed one night at Okuti garden and I wish we could have known how wonderful a place it is beforehand (didn't check Trip Advisor) as we could have happily passed many days there.
Our two year old daughter was enchanted with endless paths to follow and flowers to smell.
Our yurt was great and fit the three of us perfectly.
I envy anyone heading there now!! Enjoy!

So sad that we only found this on or last night - though fortunate as we may never have left! If you want a truly magical NZ experience where you feel a hobbit might pop up at any minute searching for a ring, then this is it! Scenery is phenomenal, accommodation is such fun and the owners made us feel really welcome. We cannot recommend this highly enough! Thank you so much for a truly memorable experience! X

Josh and I spent a wonderful weekend at this beautiful property. So tranquil. Janie and her family were the perfect hosts and we look forward to visiting again very soon. The property is operating on self sufficiency with vegetable gardens, fruit, nut trees, composting toilet and solar heated shower (although there is a hot water shower available for those wanting) The yurts, teepee and house truck all add to the alternative flavour of this homestay. We had such a wonderful, peaceful and relaxing stay in this beautiful garden. We didn't want to leave! Everything was perfect from the warm friendly hosts, to the comfortable secluded yurt, to the amazing massage. It was lovely to sit and read under the trees with a cup of tea and the sounds of the birds and cicadas. We also loved having a candle-lit dinner in the outdoor kitchen. We couldn't recommend it enough!
