Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Second time staying here and as disappointed as the first time big room on the third floor no problem everything is just poor the fridge wasn’t turned on and so all my food was wasted. when I told them they came and turned it on when I questioned this they said they don’t turn them on. Because ice forms LOL. It would be nice if they told guests or even turned on the fridge as the room was boiling hot. The room has a very nice looking sofa but again it’s broken so if you sit on it you just fall in. The tap in the kitchen was coming off and the showerhead was leaking everywhere. I’ve booked the breakfast which is $25 which is a midpriced breakfast it was probably worth five dollars if I’m being generous. Breakfast runs until 9 am and has to be pre-booked. I got there about 8:20 am and there were three slices of bread a left small amount of scrambled egg a few bits of very greasy bacon and some other sad looking items. The next guests after me had no bread and when they asked they were just told there was no bread and that was it. All they need to do is actually check the rooms to make sure things are working and provide maintenance. I’m sure other people would just put up with it.

Have stayed 3 times now and each time the rooms get dirtier. This time the power point in bathroom not working, nor was the heated towel rail. Beds are super king and very comfortable but lack of attention to cleanliness mean we will not be back.

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in Oct 2023. The reception area was unmanned most of the time and you had to ring to speak to someone. The cleanliness of our room was average. Our main complaint was the window view. We booked this hotel 3 mths prior to travel from Aust and as the hotel name suggests, "Parkview" Our large window looked straight into a carpark on the same level as our window. Below was the laneway for bins, rubbish collection etc. Noisy with people exiting and entering the car park door right next to our room. Very Disappointing.

Do not recommend. Starting with the positive, bed was an acceptable level of comfort (king bed that you almost can't notice the join, even though it was two smaller beds as is very normal in hotels). Large room, which is great. The negative.... Noone when we checked in even though reception is supposed to be open til 8. There's a phone in case reception is unattended, even the person on the other end of the phone said reception was open. No cot in room even though I made damn sure to have confirmation it would be there so my sister didn't have to deal with that with a tired baby. This confirmation was not easy to get either, they were near impossible to get in contact with, didn't answer the phone and not good at replying to email. Parking information extremely unclear. No coffee in room. WORST OF ALL, bathroom smelt like urine and had hair hanging around from previous guests. Cleaners knocked on the door at 0930, even though check out is at 10. Most of the group had vacated their rooms, but unacceptable for those that needed the time to complete their morning routine (especially on a Sunday!) Some in the group also complained of hearing a lot of noise through the walls (toilets flushing and water flowing etc)

Rudest receptionist we've ever encountered. Room had no microwave. Beds literally worst we've ever had, like a lumpy hard rock. Car park was awful, two different levels had areas of broken car window glass (side windows by the look of location) still on the ground. Signs saying don't leave valuables in cars, grafitting, bottles and garbage everywhere. Female receptionist was rude on every occasion we encountered her, and that description of her attitude is kind. Overall the place is nothing like it was when we stayed a few years back. Cleaner was good, room was clean but no microwave and bed like a rock combined was car worries and the rudest receptionist means we won't ever return or recommend Parkview on Hagley to anyone.

I specifically booked to stay at Parkview on Hagley as they did breakfast included. The first morning the breakfast room was closed. According to the info book in the room, breakfast on Sunday starts at 8am - the room never opened. I tried to find a staff member and could only locate a cleaner who told me that breakfast was the following day. The following day, same again - nothing. Tried to find a staff member and found the same cleaner who just told me that there was no breakfast. I emailed direct to complain but never heard back. Great room, zero service and do not deliver on what you pay for. I would recommend giving this place a miss.

The rooms here are huge with great amenities. Shower and bath, kichenette(microwave only but spacious), nice touches like usb plugs bedside, toothbrush and shaving kits in the bathroom. Be perfect for a longer stay or for more people. Right next to jacket park.

Absolutely disgusting managers here. Rushed to chch as immediate family member was put on life support and passed away not long after arriving. Parents made booking but in haste didn't read fine print nor click the right buttons and was apparently a non refundable booking. Asked for compassionate release said was only meant to be 1 night not 4, totally refused to refund or do anything to help. Couldn't have cared less at very very tired & distraught elderly parents who have been driving all through the night just to get to hosp in morn & then to have family member pass away. Was a genuine mistake made out of lack of sleep & they couldn't give two f's. Would not recommend at all. And even worse tried to upsell them ! Disgusting predatory behaviour from a proprietor.

Horrid place. the room was a supposed upgrade but the air con has not been cleaned in years which made me sick as I suffer allergies (see pics). The breakfast, do not waste your money it's a rip-off rather go get a cafe breakfast seriously, the shower was dirty and the tapware was broken in the bathroom. this place has lost its way I tried to talk to reception on check out and they do not operate in the am you have to just slip your key under the security door. Security is also not the best there is signage that says do not leave valuables in your car as they will get stolen. Go somewhere else seriously and Expedia is not interested in helping.

For the price, this is probably a great deal. We paid just over $100 per night and had a huge “executive” room - while the decor was dated, it was spacious and clean which was nice. The TV is oddly placed so you can’t watch from the bed, which was a bit strange. I also got locked in the bathroom and reception had to come and get me out, luckily I had my phone but poses a large risk in the event the hotel needed to be evacuated. The lock on my colleagues bathroom door had also been removed so not sure if this is a recurring issue. Overall it was an average stay, it was a little noisey at times
