ST LEONARD’S VINEYARD COTTAGES is set on 4.5 acres, with self-contained boutique cottages positioned around the semi-rural property. The original farm homestead (circa 1886) is home to your hosts - Jonathan & Natashya - and is an excellent example of early NZ colonial architecture. The house is situated in the hub of this private setting with century-old walnut, gum and elm trees. The charming cottages are themed around the old farm buildings, offering their own unique view of mountains, vines or gardens, and are privately located around the property. They are all fully self-contained and self-catering. Make the most of your idyllic surroundings by exploring the grounds with its picturesque gardens and majestic trees. Near the lemon grove you will find sheep, alpaca and chickens (all prepared to become your new best friend for a handful of food) plus a couple of very shy deer. Pool, Petanque, lawn tennis. We are proud to have received both the Silver Qualmark and Covid Clean Approved Awards.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A wonderful stay at The Stables, hosted by Jonathan and Natashya. A gorgeous property, very well stocked with breakfast delights, with beautiful scenery along with cuddly pet sheep to hang out with. And a very friendly hen too :-) A great place to explore the Blenheim wine lands. Oh, and a fun jacuzzi to unwind in.

Our second visit to St Leonards and it fulfilled all our high expectations. The Cottage was a delightful period property, appropriately decorated and furnished, as well as comfortable, loads of room, charming view over the vineyards, delicious breakfast ingredients. Natashya and Jonathan have maintained the high standard we remembered from 2014, and the garden, grounds and animals are as delightful as ever. One of our very favourite accommodations in New Zealand, and if we lived a bit nearer we'd be frequent visitors. Thank you both.

We have stayed at this property several times over the years. We did not enjoy this stay as much as our previous visits. The outdated TV needs attention as the very poor sound quality make it unwatchable. The butter provided with the breakfast provisions had a very tainted smell and taste We wouldn't risk using it and binned it. We feel it is compared to other very fine accommodation in the Blenheim area overpriced. We would definitely not use this property again.

We are sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your visit as much as your previous times. We are sorry you felt you couldn't come to us with your concerns. The new smart television in The Cottage is less than a year old and the butter is fresh sliced for every guest. We would have been happy to replace your butter and help with the television had we known. Thankyou for your feedback. St Leonards Team.

This was a lovely place. I had the sheepshearers quarters. OMG-it was fantastic. They have a little zoo with sheep, alpaca, possum, chickens, deer, etc. It was also a beautiful view with vineyards around it. I had a kitchen in which they supplied breakfast foods.

Wonderful getaway in wine country with excellent hosts. Can't recommend enough. Best place we stayed in 4 weeks in New Zealand. Enjoyed the animals including sheep, chickens, llamas, and deer. Rooms include makings for a great breakfast.

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights in mid March - I think there is a minimum 2 night stay. We only were only able to book the week before as there was a cancellation - we had been looking since January but get the impression that the various properties get booked up pretty early so don’t leave it too late to try to make a reservation Beautiful location literally in the middle of Marlborough vineyards - and they are all around you. We stayed in the Cottage which was very spacious all round, with very comfortable bed, and large living area. As we had dined out at lunchtime we just made an omelette with the eggs provided for our dinner - breakfast is provided in advance in your accommodation, cereals, yoghurt, bread etc It definitely is worth having the 2 nights here to take in the beautiful surrounds. We hit the hot tub on the second night to enjoy the starry skies. You can dander around the property and see the various animals and pick lemons - the peaches were not quite ready during our stay. Highly recommend even though it is is more pricey than most of the other accommodation we stayed in during our time in NZ, but truly memorable stay.

We stayed in "The Stables" for four nights. The accommodation is downright shabby and uncomfortable. The rugs and bed coverings are worn, and you wouldn't have these at home. (see photo). There was two of us - so on arrival we were given 8 eggs, 8 tea bags and 8 slices of sliced bread. (Enough for one of each item per day). Wow. As soon as we checked in, my credit card was charged for the 4 nights. Probably previous guests had checked out early. This accommodation was the worst we had in five weeks of travel. I am sure that you can do better nearby.

Thank you for your review, I am sorry you did not enjoy your cottage. I can assure you that all bedding has recently been purchased new. The old spotless rug is there to add to the cottage decor, being The Stables. When guests arrive, we supply breakfast provisions, generally enough for two days and always say to guests to please let us know when you need more supplies. We are always more than happy to restock and expect guests to need fresh bread etc . I 'm sorry, you didn't feel you could approach us with your concerns. We went out of our way to Change a mattress that you said was uncomfortable and even gave you free bicycles to use during your stay. This accommodation has been up and running for 20 years and by far the reviews have been overwhelmingly positive.

Wonderful setting amongst the vineyards and beautiful gardens. We stayed in the Shearers Quarters. Very comfortable with a lovely private area outside to rest , enjoy the views and have an excellent supplied breakfast. Used the swimming pool which was great and strolled around the property checking out the deer, sheep and chickens. Location is excellent for visiting local wineries. Recommend a stay here

We stayed in 'The Cottage' stunning location overlooking neighbouring vineyards. This is the perfect place to really relax; if you can, book one more day than you think you need. Hosts are kind and very helpful, good communication before during and after our stay. Quality bedding and comfy bed. Full bath as well as shower. Kitchen with hob& microwave. Eggs, yoghurt, bread, jam, juice supplied for breakfast. Plenty of good fresh coffee and selection of teas. Best place we have stayed in NZ.
