Absolutely fabulous stay. Our family loved the quiet location, farm setting and really comfy accommodation. Cooked dinner in after feeding the animals. Got up and walked the track around the farm with the sheep and alpacas. Complimentary eggs were delicious, which came with delicious cereal, milk and bread. A perfect stop between Kaikoura and Nelson. Highly recommended.

We’ve spent the last week down south moving our 19 year old into a new flat and stopping here to wind down was just perfect. Llamas to greet us and a walk around the loop in the evening was delightful.
Very nice selection of local products; from the delicious artisan bread to their own eggs, refillable eco store cleaning products and what looks like home made jam. I commend you both. It’s really beautifully set up.
We’re looking to retire to a tiny home in a few years and wanted to try out smaller places this trip. Misty River Retreat was ‘just right’ in every sense. Ngā mihi

Beautiful peaceful spot, not far from town. The unit's fit out to a very high standard and has everything you need for a short stay. The alpaca's are a laugh and it's quite the experience feeding them. Heaps of birdlife about and I love the sustainable goals they're striving for here.
It's a pretty special place, especially walking around the wetland at sunset - would love to return one day.

I feel like this place is confused about what it is. The area where it is is nice and quiet, it's about 10mins out of Blenheim. The accommodation itself has a weird layout with one bedroom having a couch and TV and the other bedroom having the dining table and chairs. Nothing communal except the kitchen which is tiny and most of the bench is taken up with a gigantic sink!
So much for the 'daily breakfast'. We were there a week and received a quarter sized loaf of bread, a tablespoon of butter and 2 bananas. There was cereal in a jar. That was it. For a week.
Asked the host Joanne on day three what the go was regarding breakfast and she said "We're not a hotel", and we pointed out that breakfast was included and her reply was that "it's confusing if you book through booking.com". Still no other breakfast for the rest of the stay. Weird.

Thankyou for your review, we feel we have been really transparent with our layout which is described fully on booking.com in the description and pictures. We have also been fully transparent with breakfast, its written in booking.com descriptions and written in our welcome book and on arrival it is asked if you require anything replenished please ask. We have never promoted free daily breakfasts, all the guests we have had to date are very happy with this setup. We are always here to help and welcome open, calm, honest conversations. I'm sorry you had a disappointing experience, we will endeavor to be even more transparent in the future and I hope your next getaway is more enjoyable.

My partner and I agreed that staying with Rose and Will may be our favourite accommodation we've ever had... it was a bit out of our budget, but we considered it a splurge at the end of our New Zealand stay and I felt it was worth every penny. The retreat is quiet, clean, immaculately decorated with lovely small touches that made it the best night's sleep we've had in a while. The breakfast of fresh bread, muffins, fruit, and cereals with assorted spreads was filling and delicious. Rose and Will couldn't have been nicer; they were communicative with our arrival time, booked us a table at the delicious Gramados for dinner in town, and were attentive while respecting our space. This place is a gem in NZ.

We were attracted by the information on the wild life but didn't know what to expect. You are free to walk by the river and explore the wetland area. We met the 5 Alpacas and they were well behaved. We then went on the Kayak trip down the river with Rose and Will and their dog. The Royal Spoonbills were a delight but we saw so much more. Will's enthusiasm is infectious and his knowledge on wild life is vast. The Kayak trip was a high point of our holiday. My only regret is that I didn't take my DSLR camera with me in the kayak. The kayak was very stable and there was no danger of loosing the camera due to a capsize.

We loved staying at Will and Rose's Retreat. The accommodation and surrounding area are absolutely lovely. Everyday we woke up to the sunrise coming through the floor to ceiling windows in the bedroom(s). Will and Rose also provided delicious, homemade foods (muffins, breads, granola). Top-rate hospitality! This was the perfect place for some R&R! Would highly recommend staying here!!!

The guesthouse is just lovely! A modern, convenient accomodation with all the equipment you need, tastfully furnished and decorated, located in a beautiful environment. I sat on the deck and listened to the birds, and when you wake up in the morning you can see the trees outside from your bedroom. All in all a perfect, quiet retreat!

Rose and Will were extremely kind and perfect hosts who made us feel comfortable during our stay in their house! The views from our rooms were fantastic, the breakfasts were fresh, home baked and excellent and the animals (sheep, cows and birds) seemed to welcome us as well! We had a great time there! We warmly recommend! Eva&Risto

Saw a wonderful sunrise whilst preparing for canoe ride.
Briefing was ok but tides and win shortened the paddling to hour.
Went by car to see gulls, heron, shags, oyster catchers and terns, at nearby entrance of river. Had good picnic there . Guide knowledgeable .
