I spent 4 nights here and it was just amazing. Caro and Hugh were so accommodating, we were treated to bubbles on arrival where we could relax by the pool and just enjoy the peace & quiet just what we needed.
Spent two nights here at the end of our tour of the South Island. Idiosyncratic and cosy B&B- style accommodation (only two double rooms) in a quiet location just outside Blenheim, with very welcoming owner who really wants you to have a great time and get the most from your stay: Phil's hospitality was unsurpassed, his breakfasts were wonderful and the wine he insisted on letting us have from his fridge was sublime! A great base from which to take a tour of wine country.
Arriving at Antria is like being covered in a big Kiwi style blanket of hospitality. Phil is warm, generous and entertaining. The house is amazing, full of unique pieces of art. Thankyou for letting us use your garden to star watch - one of our holiday highlights. We wish you well Phil with your new adventures and feel honoured to have been your last guests. Kia Koa.
We spent 2 nights here in March and weren’t disappointed. Nothing was too much trouble for Phil from recommending restaurants to providing us with a cold platter of food and wine after a day out wine tasting and cruising the Marlborough Sounds. Thank you Phil for a wonderful stay.
Phil, the owner of Antria, was an excellent host and cook for us. My wife and I stayed at this lodge for 3 nights during our first visit in NZ. What we hoped in Marlborough was exploring great food and wines. Phil recommended and reserved great local restaurants for us every evening and drove us there as he promises in his website. Although our stay was over a weekend (Fri - Mon) when the choice of the restaurants was limited, he managed to book nice ones serving top tier food and wines. If our stay had been during a week, he would have had more choices. On top of these, what really amazed us was his breakfast. They have six hens in their back yard and each of them produces an egg every day - six fresh eggs a day. Phil cooked superb egg dishes every morning as the "main course". Eggs benedict on morning one, fluffy meringue omlet on morning two, and egg quiche on the last morning. He told us that he had six secret recipes of breakfast egg courses. This beautiful lodge is one of a very limited number of places where we wish to stay again. And, we wish to stay from Monday through Sunday next time so that we can enjoy all of his egg recipes and more variety of local restaurants. Although my writing focuses on food and wine, the room, amenity, huge collection of movie DVDs, large relaxing back yard, etc. would never disappoint anybody.…
Best expressed as shabby chic extremely comfortable accommodation central to wineries. What makes this place unforgettable is Phil, what a wonderful host and breakfast chef. After a 3 night stay we felt that we had known Phil a lifetime, wonderfully warm person made us so very welcome and extremely generous with his wine.
The Antria Lodge sits in the middle of the Marlborough wine country and is the perfect spot for exploring that wonderful region. Our host, Phil made us a wonderful gourmet breakfast each morning, took us on a half day wine tour and made dinner recommendations at wonderful nearby restaurants. Plus he is quite the character and laughs at all the political nonsense going on in the USA. The lodge is quite comfortable, clean and well located. Besides the wine tour my wife and I took a cruise on the beautiful Marlborough sound and went to a working mussel farm where we dined on the freshest NewZealand green shell mussels.
Antria Lodge is a two unit B&B hosted by two great people, Phil and Kathryne. As we drove up the long drive to the building, we were warmly welcomed. They must have had radar to know we were arriving. The history of the building is that they directed the construction themselves with many recycled materials. The layout is well done as we had great privacy but also access to the common areas. Phil offers a personalized wine tour and we took advantage of that. His knowledge of Marlborough and the wineries goes far beyond what one could gain from tour books or pamphlets. He also will drive you to the restaurant of your choice (be sure to go to Arbour) and then take a taxis back. Breakfasts are very well done with Phil at the helm. A very memorable experience and highly recommended.…
We had a marvellous two nights at Antria, it set the standard for a wonderful time in Marlborough. The hospitality offered by Phil was second to none, and allowed us to suitably unwind in front of the fire with a gorgeous antipasto platter, after a travel day, absolutely perfect ! The rooms are wonderful, spacious and comfortable, the breakfast sets you up beautifully for the day and returning after a day of wine tasting to sit in front of the fire rounds out a great place to stay. Look no further if you want your home away from home during your trip to Marlborough !
Phil at Antria Lodge is a wonderful host, generous, thoughtful and kind. My room was so beautiful and relaxing, and the bed really comfortable. Lovely breakfast choices - home made bottled Marlborough fruit a highlight!! Thoroughly recommend this as a place to stay.
