The Marlborough, originally built in 1901 as a convent, it was completely refurbished in 2016 and is now a Boutique Hotel & vineyard opening in 2017 offering 10 elegant rooms over two floors each with private modern en-suites with full bathtubs and walk in showers. The Marlborough's decor highlights some of its beautiful historic features and mixes those with a contemporary decor creating a warm and inviting private haven for you to call home whilst exploring the Marlborough region. Surrounded by the world-famous Marlborough vineyards, it is just 10 minutes from Blenheim Airport and 15 mins from the township of Blenheim making this the ideal location to experience the world renowned wines of Marlborough and then just 20 mins away is the beautiful Marlborough Sounds. Here you will find largely uninhabited waterways with secluded coves and native bush running to the waters edge. With an array of marine life such as dolphins, seals and the occassional Orca along with an abundance of birdlife. There is also the renowned hiking trail on the Queen Charlotte Track running some 70klms, when can be day in sections or staying overnight. Omaka Aviation Centre with its Peter Jackson collection of World War I and II aircraft and memorabilia is world class and just 15 mins away. There is also a wide array of excellent artisan food producers and artists providing you with much to eat, see and do whilst staying with us. We offer a full Concierge service, bkfast daily, pre dinner drinks/canapes served by the beautiful chapel bar or by our outdoor fireplace, we offer in house dining at our Harvest Restaurant (additional charge), featuring an a la carte menu showcasing the excellent wine and produce of the region. Our signature turndown service each evening is also included in our half board tariff. There is also a variety of indoor and outdoor spaces for guests to relax and enjoy as well as walking trails through the gardens and vineyards that surround the buildings and beautiful birdsong from sun up to sun down. A outdoor heated swimming pool (heated Oct - Aprl), complimentary bikes, tennis courts & racquets, pentanque, croquet and disc golf are all on site and complimentary. Children 7+ are welcome at The Marlborough, or children of all ages if booking exclusively.

This is a beautiful inn in the heart of Marlborough wine country. The rooms a spacious and the service is impeccable. From the moment we walked in the door we were treated like family, not just guests. Everything about the place is first rate, from the peronal attention of the staff to the complimentary wine and hors d'oeuvres in the evening, to the grounds, parts of which are reserved for guests only. And they encouraged us to pick the fruit right off the trees, which we did! Our "host" Rob was wonderful to us during our stay, always making sure we had everything we needed. Topping it off is the Harvest restaurant, which you enter through a hidden hallway from the Inn. The food there is excellent. While we were there, the restaurant won a "hat," which we were told is the New Zealand equivalent of a Michelin star. Our daughter, who has traveled extensively and stayed at many fine hotels, said the Marlborough was the best place she's ever stayed. I agree. …

We stayed in wonderful properties in New Zealand but The Marlborough House was my favorite. (and I loved the others) There was something so special about this property. Just the right size to be secluded and intimate with the possibility of meeting others. Phenomenal restaurant with service to match. Wonderful touches like happy hour in the garden, and gift shop with excellent small mostly handmade gifts. Rooms are gorgeous with amazing bathrooms and all the amenities.

We stayed two nights at this lovely inn. Check-in included a bit of a tour of the property, including some commentary on its interesting history (check out the photo album in the lobby area). Our premium room was very comfortable and included gorgeous views over the vineyard. We enjoyed the complimentary happy hour each evening by the outdoor fireplace and delicious meals, breakfast and dinner, in the restaurant. The property is quiet and beautifully landscaped.

What a fabulous hotel! This is a real gem, attention to detail in the rooms, furnishing, food, everything. We were offered a glass of wine on arrival produced in their own vineyards. Our room was stunning leading on to a balcony that ran all around the first floor. Mini bar was complimentary although nothing was mini! Stunning bathroom with freestanding bath and huge shower. Everything we needed or could have wanted. We ate in the restaurant both nights sitting on the terrace overlooking the beautifully maintained gardens. Before dinner we enjoyed complimentary cocktails in the old chapel. Breakfast the following morning was in the same venue with a great menu. Outdoor games were set and there was a heated swimming pool. The staff were very attentive and looked after us well. We had a great 2 days and cannot recommend highly enough.…

One of the nicest boutique hotels we have ever visited. The staff was just the best! Angela the owner was just great! She showed us a pictorial history of the hotel, and went overboard. Minibar was complimentary, farewell gift, great service and breakfasts, and the dinners were wonderful. We have stayed at another hotel in Marlborough and this is the best by far. What a setting!!! Best beds we have had. Definitely a 11 out of 10! We are experienced 5 star travelers and this hotel is one of the best!

This is comfortably the most amazing hotel we have ever stayed at - we visited here for our honeymoon. A gorgeous heritage building set in acres of beautifully manicured grounds, it is an absolute delight to wander around the gardens. The food at the restaurant was incredible and we ended up eating there every night just to explore more of the menu. However, the best part of our stay was the staff who were so attentive, friendly and personal. The evening drinks and canapés were a highlight of our day and even when I spilt red wine on my white jumper they went out of their way to remove the stain. We cannot recommend this place enough and is worth every penny - we will be back for sure!

It is hard to put into words how magical our stay at The Marlborough was. Indeed, in a lifetime of travel, it was our all-time favorite hotel experience. The buildings and property are brimming with history and charm. The location is outstanding. The restaurant, Harvest, was the best food we had in all of New Zealand. But it’s the people here that make the place so incredible. Every detail is thought through, and every touch is customized. We received a personalized card in our room each night, and the pre-dinner drinks and canapés were as if one was being hosted by your closest, kindest friends. We were on the fence booking this property given the relatively high room rate, but it was beyond worth every penny. They are generous and do not nickle-and-dime their guests. Perfectly balanced leisure with refined luxury. The staff was very attentive and almost next time they saw you were calling you by name. You never saw housekeeping but you room was magically serviced when you returned. Both morning and evening turndown. The property is beautifully landscaped. I believe the house was redone during Covid and it is beautiful all by itself. From the artwork to the wallpapers just beautiful.

From the moment our family checked in, we were welcomed by the warm and friendly staff and taken care of like royalty throughout our 3 day/night visit. The property is breathtaking and the “lodge” is beautifully decorated - with the comfort of what you dream your home to be. The restaurant is as wonderful, with the food being among the best we’ve had in New Zealand! Nick the chef is top notch - both his cooking talent and his personal touch to come out and talk about his creations and make us feel special. The staff were all exceptional- special call out to Miqu, who made each meal fun and most enjoyable. If I could give 10 stars I would … truly one of the best from someone who has been to many great hotels around the world. Hope to be back!!!
