Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great location, welcoming and helpful staff, lovely room and breakfast. The building has character with tall ceilings and lots of room space. Nice bathroom with power shower and nice towels (actual large towels, most places bizarrely in NZ only provide small towels).

It is evident the owners are trying to make this unique hotel something special, but they have a long way to go. This is an old, converted bank with no elevator, and we had to carry our heavy bags (16 days of travel in NZ) up the stairs—very inconvenient. Once we got into the room, there was a strange odor in the room, like a paint thinner or nail polish remover smell. It was overwhelming when you first walked in. The shower flooded the entire bathroom floor, making it dangerous to walk around in the tight quarters safely. The breakfast was minimal at best. In fact, we went across the street to the pastry shop for proper coffee and pastries. The location was not ideal and we wish that we had stayed on the outskirts of downtown or at a winery B&B.

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights as part of a 2 month trip and this hotel was my favourite so far! We were greeted and checked in and personally shown to our room, with some information on the history of the building. There was complimentary port outside the room and chocolates on the bed. The room was beautifully decorated (all rooms are different) and immaculate. TV had Netflix logged in ready for use. The cocktails at the bar downstairs were lovely, as was the Asian food in the restaurant. A thoroughly enjoyable stay, thank you.

We had an excellent stay for New Years 2024. Our room (#1) was quite spacious and we enjoyed the quirky/vintage decorations. The complementary port was a nice tough as well! We were primarily in Blenheim for a bike winery tour, so we had booked dinner at the hotel restaurant that night banking that we may be too tired to go out (we were right about that). The restaurant was the most pleasant surprise of all. Awesome cocktails and Asian fusion food. There was a big New Years Eve party in the bar that night, but although we couldn't make it to midnight, the noise wasn't bad at all in the room and we slept well. Great stay and would return!

This historic hotel was so beautiful - antique furnishings and decorations. But also spacious enough. The views weren't great, but the location was very close to many restaurants and shops. We also found a nice walking trail along a river and a nearby park with a rose garden. The only thing we wished was that the breakfast was more substantial - some cereals, toast, canned fruit salad - no sausage/bacon/eggs.

One of the more impressive, neo-classical buildings in the town. It has character and I assume is gradually being renovated. Our room was (unfortunately) pre-renovation and felt dusty, aging, blinds not closing properly, the carpet smelly. So not a recommendation. But we had a glimps into a renovated room and that one looked great. So: insist on a renovated room! The restaurant downstairs, by the way, is reasonably good. The breakfast is nothing special; more of a hospital atmosphere.

What a beautiful building!! The old Public Trust Office, Bukit in 1923. There is only 10 rooms, making very boutique. Car parks are limited and there is no elevator. Meals is served in Mollies and if you feel like a drink, head to Bamboo Tiger, both located on the ground floor.

We can honestly say that this hotel was one of our finest hotel experiences we had. Such an original concept of staying in a bankvault. Rooms were spacious, lovely bed and complimentary Port down the hall. The whole place is very nicely decorated. We really liked it.

While the photos suggest a classy, buzzing boutique stay, the hotel is fairly unattended like an AirBnB experience and the restaurant had few guests when operating. For our 3:30p arrival we were instructed to use a lock box to retrieve our key, and during our 4 night stay we encountered few staff. When we did, it was not a welcoming and helpful vibe. This is despite the promise of “personalized service” on the historical nameplate at the front door. The hotel itself is charming, however it’s not a match for the surrounding neighborhood, and the area gets fairly desolate at night. Overall, our room was decent, parking was convenient, breakfast was adequate, and the hotel itself has a nice, historical charm. However, the staff delivery is aiming lower than it should.

Very helpful and friendly staff. They took our bags before checking in and took them to the room while we were out wine tasting. Nice that breakfast is included. They have very spacious rooms with comfortable bed and large bathroom.
