You couldn't want for better hosts than Rose and Matthew Montgomery (and of course Mo their friendly dog) . We had the good fortune of finding these generous, thoughtful and warm hearted people, who offered up their idyllic cottage for "the lockdown". Their thoughtfulness and generosity went beyond the normal call of a hosts duties. We never wanted for anything and really appreciated the little food parcels left on our doorstep, including fruits from their land.

This is a truly amazing, peaceful location with unforgettable views of mountains and sunsets over the vineyards, all seen from a spacious and well equipped decking. The cottage is also spacious, light, sparkly clean and very comfortable, with everything you could possibly need including a log fire for cooler evenings and a heated swimming pool.

Fabulous cottage and hosts - we highly recommend this.

Response from Rose Montgomery, Owner at Montgomery's Vineyard Cottage
Responded 2 May 2020
Thank you for your kind words, Netty and Tim. We were pleased to offer you a "home away from home" during NZ's Covid19 lockdown. Such extraordinary times for everyone. You were the perfect guests, really appreciated your wonderful help in the gardens (Wollerton Old Hall gardens' temporary loss was our gain) and thank you for leaving the Cottage so clean and tidy. We look forward to the next time you visit.Safe travels.

Just returned from 3 wonderful nights at Rose & Matthew’s cottage - in a word sensational!

My wife and I decided to have a late autumn break in Marlborough to do some biking and after much research on the ‘net’ decide to stay at Montgomery’s Vineyard Cottage taking advantage of their ‘winter special’ rates. What a fantastic decision as the cottage was just perfect for us: Spacious, clean, quiet, tastefully decorated and the views from the terrace were just stunning. The cottage is very sunny and warm, but even so each night we couldn’t resist lighting the log burner to enjoy the comfort and ambience of an open fire. There was a good supply of dry wood on hand as was the case for all of our requirements for a relaxing stay – Rose supplied us with a generous starter pack of goodies, as well as some extra condiments like their free range eggs, fresh homemade jam, olive oil and even balsamic vinegar.

Rose is a great host and has been in the ‘people business’ all her life and offers the right balance between giving guests advice and leaving you alone to simply enjoy their slice of paradise amid the vines of Marlborough.

I am a retired travel agent so have experienced many and varied accommodation styles around the globe, but can confidently state that travellers would be hard pushed to find a more relaxing and enjoyable stay than at Montgomery’s Vineyard Cottage.

Excellent location in the heart of the winemaking area of Marlborough! Comfortable cottage between the vineyards, along with apple & plum trees and egg-laying chickens. Rose and Matthew were perfect hosts, helping when needed, but providing complete privacy otherwise. Our kids loved frolicking between the vines, and the warm swimming pool. The adults loved the separate bedrooms and easy access to wine-tastings. Our only regret is that we only reserved 2 nights, there was so much more to see.

My best friend and I had decided it was time for a girls weekend, and we choose Montgomery cottage for our accomodation. The moment we drove up the drive through the vineyards to the cottage we knew it was the right decision. The cottage is outstanding, tastefully decorated but comfortable and homely. Rose and Matt are incredible hosts making you feel very welcome and so helpful and knowledgeable of blenhiem and the many things to do. We live in a beautiful country and this would be top of my list for a visit, but don't take my word for it try it yourself you will be so happy you did. Thank you Rose and Matt for such a wonderful holiday we will be back. Michelle and Julie.

What a fabulous place to relax in Blenheim. The cottage was top class with all amenities. Rosemary and Matthew are wonderful hosts and you won’t regret staying her. Our only regret was it wasn’t longer as the views were wonderful and hospitality was second to none. It was lovely to get a dip in the pool and to sit beside it and have the view of the vineyards.
Easy access to Blenheim by car or Taxi. Definitely recommended.

Absolutely loved our stay at Montomgery's house. Rose made us feel very welcome, and went above and beyond to accommodate any requests. The homestay itself was picture perfect - stunning views and immaculate. To top it off, it was a great place to explore the area from. Would wholeheartedly recommend, and hope to be back soon!

Beautiful B&B that's like being in your own home. Set in lovely surroundings with great BBQ and deck overlooking the vineyards and mountains. Perfect for touring the vineyards which we did by bike. The bonus is that the owners - The Montgomeries are great hosts.

We were recommended to stay here by fellow friends and it was my first time visiting New Zealand.

This house is beautiful and well looked after. Very homely and super clean. The surrounding area is peaceful. This house made me want to stay a week! Book this place early as it gets booked up quickly. You can sit near the pool, read a book and do nothing for hours and just feel at peace.
The vineyard looks great - see my enclosed photos!

Rose made us breakfast and we had her homemade jam! Thank you so much Rose - I hope we meet again soon! Please give your little puppy PIP or PUP (not sure what you named her in the end) a kiss for me. She is adorable!

I will definitely come back here with my other half as long as it's available!

From the moment we pushed open the unlocked front door and smelt the roses in the arrangement on the chest ,intermingled with agapanthus I knew we had made the right choice.
The cottage was wonderfully equipped, even down to an apron!
Rose soon came round with a big smile and a fantastic plate of fruit. She and Matthew were so welcoming and helpful that evening, although they had to rush out to celebrate the engagement of their daughter.
It was calm and peaceful,a great shower and comfy beds. We had a superb breakfast with all that Rose had left for us, and were contentedly patting our tummies when she came round with freshly baked croissants! Such spoiling!
It's a great area, and we wish we could have stayed longer, we certainly would if we were ever lucky enough to return to New Zealand. they were both so kind and Matthew said we really should visit the Omaka Aviation Museum, even though we thought we wee there just for the wineries. He was so right,it was amazing!
The final touch came when we were leaving, Rose appeared with a napkin full of freshly baked mince pies and some cherries.
We are left with happy memories, and people who feel like very good friends.

Thank you very much for your kind words - it was a pleasure hosting you both. We loved your enthusiasm for Marlborough. We too felt as if we were fare-welling old friends when you left! Come back again - you'll always be welcome! Cheers, Rose
