What a fabulous place to relax in Blenheim. The cottage was top class with all amenities. Rosemary and Matthew are wonderful hosts and you won’t regret staying her. Our only regret was it wasn’t longer as the views were wonderful and hospitality was second to none. It was lovely to get a dip in the pool and to sit beside it and have the view of the vineyards. Easy access to Blenheim by car or Taxi. Definitely recommended.

Excellent location in the heart of the winemaking area of Marlborough! Comfortable cottage between the vineyards, along with apple & plum trees and egg-laying chickens. Rose and Matthew were perfect hosts, helping when needed, but providing complete privacy otherwise. Our kids loved frolicking between the vines, and the warm swimming pool. The adults loved the separate bedrooms and easy access to wine-tastings. Our only regret is that we only reserved 2 nights, there was so much more to see.

Just returned from 3 wonderful nights at Rose & Matthew’s cottage - in a word sensational!  My wife and I decided to have a late autumn break in Marlborough to do some biking and after much research on the ‘net’ decide to stay at Montgomery’s Vineyard Cottage taking advantage of their ‘winter special’ rates. What a fantastic decision as the cottage was just perfect for us: Spacious, clean, quiet, tastefully decorated and the views from the terrace were just stunning. The cottage is very sunny and warm, but even so each night we couldn’t resist lighting the log burner to enjoy the comfort and ambience of an open fire. There was a good supply of dry wood on hand as was the case for all of our requirements for a relaxing stay – Rose supplied us with a generous starter pack of goodies, as well as some extra condiments like their free range eggs, fresh homemade jam, olive oil and even balsamic vinegar.  Rose is a great host and has been in the ‘people business’ all her life and offers the right balance between giving guests advice and leaving you alone to simply enjoy their slice of paradise amid the vines of Marlborough.  I am a retired travel agent so have experienced many and varied accommodation styles around the globe, but can confidently state that travellers would be hard pushed to find a more relaxing and enjoyable stay than at Montgomery’s Vineyard Cottage.

My best friend and I had decided it was time for a girls weekend, and we choose Montgomery cottage for our accomodation. The moment we drove up the drive through the vineyards to the cottage we knew it was the right decision. The cottage is outstanding, tastefully decorated but comfortable and homely. Rose and Matt are incredible hosts making you feel very welcome and so helpful and knowledgeable of blenhiem and the many things to do. We live in a beautiful country and this would be top of my list for a visit, but don't take my word for it try it yourself you will be so happy you did. Thank you Rose and Matt for such a wonderful holiday we will be back. Michelle and Julie.

You couldn't want for better hosts than Rose and Matthew Montgomery (and of course Mo their friendly dog) . We had the good fortune of finding these generous, thoughtful and warm hearted people, who offered up their idyllic cottage for "the lockdown". Their thoughtfulness and generosity went beyond the normal call of a hosts duties. We never wanted for anything and really appreciated the little food parcels left on our doorstep, including fruits from their land. This is a truly amazing, peaceful location with unforgettable views of mountains and sunsets over the vineyards, all seen from a spacious and well equipped decking. The cottage is also spacious, light, sparkly clean and very comfortable, with everything you could possibly need including a log fire for cooler evenings and a heated swimming pool. Fabulous cottage and hosts - we highly recommend this.

Response from Rose Montgomery, Owner at Montgomery's Vineyard Cottage
Responded 2 May 2020
Thank you for your kind words, Netty and Tim. We were pleased to offer you a "home away from home" during NZ's Covid19 lockdown. Such extraordinary times for everyone. You were the perfect guests, really appreciated your wonderful help in the gardens (Wollerton Old Hall gardens' temporary loss was our gain) and thank you for leaving the Cottage so clean and tidy. We look forward to the next time you visit.Safe travels.

My partner and I spent 2 nights in the Montgomery's cottage as the last stop on our road trip in the South Island. Rose and Matthew are extremely kind hosts. Before our arrival, we were given very detailed directions to the cottage as it is located off the main road across their beautiful vineyard. They also prepared a booklet (written by them) with dining and things-to-do recommendations which we found very useful. We were welcomed by hot tea and fruits upon our arrival late in the evening. In the morning, Rose would prepare breakfast - yogurt, cereal, fresh fruits, eggs, bacon, toast served with homemade honey & jam, and very nice coffee. The couple showed us around the cottage, which was surrounded by beautiful roses and overlooking a 3.6-hectare vineyard. The Montgomerys shared with us about viticulture, wine, and the history of their beautiful home. The cottage was spacious, comfortable and elegantly decorated. The bathroom floor was heated and we were surprised to find a Jacuzzi tub. Heater and electric blanket in the bedroom warmed up the room comfortably in the slightly chilly nights. Sleeping in the clean and comfortable king-sized bed, we woke up refreshed and well-rested for the enjoyment of exploring the region in the mornings. Rose suggested really great cellars for wine tasting and lunch. We are grateful to have their advice which made our experience in Blenheim even more memorable. Have to mention that they have a heated swimming pool next to the cottage. Swimming while enjoying the view of sunset was the best thing ever. If you look for a cozy homestay during your visit to Blenheim, we highly recommend the Montgomery's vineyard cottage. Thank you Rose and Matthew!

From the moment we entered the driveway, we knew we had picked the perfect spot to stay. Greeted by Mo, the sheep dog, the beautiful view across the vines, the gorgeous cottage, fresh eggs and home-baking, we were in heaven. We even managed to enjoy the pool. Rose gave us great tips for places to visit around Blenheim and the cottage was close to everything. Even when it rained, we weren't disappointed as we had the joy of settling in front of the fire for the afternoon to enjoy goodies from the farmers market and local wineries. We didn't want to leave - 3 nights almost wasn't enough. You won't regret staying here.

Rose and Matt are the most lovely couple and excellent hosts! Our stay with them was one of the best of our whole trip in New Zealand. Their place is beautiful and homely, set in the Blenheim vineyards and has everything you could possibly need. We'd thoroughly recommend anyone visiting Blenheim to stay here, and even if Blenheim isn't on your list, staying at the Montgomery's is well worth a detour from your itinerary. We'd love to visit again in the future.

Just spent a fabulous week in rose and Matthews air bnb. The house itself is beautiful; very cosy and fully equipped with everything you might need. They have a fabulous pool which we were welcome to use at any stage, and the place was immaculate. What really impressed us more than anything however was the warmth and hospitality of both rose and Matthew. They really made our Christmas extra special; going out of their way to make us feel like family at this time of year (which was much appreciated given we are so far from home ourselves). They even brought us out on a day trip through the sounds in their boat; this going completely above and beyond what one would expect from an air bnb host. We will definitely never forget our stay in rose and Matthews place, and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone considering staying here in the future.

We stayed for four nights and loved it. The big draw for us was the lovely fireplace but we found so much more! Rose is an excellent host, leaving us to enjoy our holiday but checking in to make sure we had everything we needed. The Border Collie Mo and 4 Chickens provided excellent company, entertainment and eggs. The cottage has comfy beds, a very sunny setting, and is easy to heat. We did lots of relaxing and reading at the cottage and ventured out for runs and walks along the nearby river paths and Wither Hills Farm Park tracks. The cottage is very conveniently located and our holiday was spontaneous as a result. The kitchen is fitted out sufficiently so that we were able to cook our own roast dinner one night. We had a wonderful relaxing stay and we’d stay again without a second’s hesitation.
