Detailed Reviews
Had a fantastic 1 night stay with Sebastian & Kathryn, amazing communication, great local suggestions and a warm welcome. Everything was spotless, lovely homely touches in the barrel and after a day of a self guided wine tour cosied up in the barrel with a board game. The bathroom is a short walk away and there is also a private outside shower and seating area, only wished it was the summer so we could utilise these! Definitely recommend a short break in the wine barrels!

Two nights at the cosy wine barrel accommodation in Marlborough’s wine region were memorable. The unique accomodation was perfect, spotless, secluded, with lovely rural and vineyard views. Highly recommended.

Though travelling for work, I was intrigued about this unique accommodation. The hosts were extremely helpful - great communication, welcoming but not in your face as the barrels are in private location in lovely garden. The barrel felt really spacious yet cosy. All the details had been thought of to make it a comfortable and enjoyable stay - tea, coffee, toaster, electric blanket, hairdryer etc. The bathroom was huge and heated. Everything perfectly clean. Great getaway, birdsong in the morning. Look forward to visiting again!

We arrived and were greeted by the delightful Sebastian and the delight did not stop. From gorgeous crockery to composting bins and the quietest, darkest comfiest sleep I have had in years. This is a winner. Make sure you order a pizza for one of your nights so you can enjoy the garden and then kick back and watch a movie cuddled up on the couch.

What a paradise. The cabins are not just beautiful, they were also really cozy with electric blankets for the cold nights, board games in case you came unprepared, a TV, plates and your own "water keg". Even comes with a flashlight and umbrella. Its really something else. We loved every minute of our stay and will be back! Big shoutout to the lovely hosts Kathryn and Sebastian!

Our one night in the Piwakawaka barrel was fantastic! Sebastian and Kathryn have though of everything - so many lovely little touches and extras. The shared bathroom (you and one other barrel) was spotless and convenient. The property is gorgeous, a great place to unwind with wine. Would stay again in a heartbeat.

My friend and I each stayed in one of the two cabins. They were clean and the folder of information was helpful. The grounds are beautiful, and we were lucky to have an amazing sunset. We had use of a refrigerator. The bathroom is shared, but they even provide a flashlight and sensor lighting along the path for when you venture out in the dark. I had a relaxing, peaceful night of sleep - the best after jet lag. The host, Sebastian, was also very friendly. We both recommend staying here!

The provided space for breakfast is very fonctional. The garden is beautiful We had a fantastic rainbow at sunset and enjoyed so much our time out there. At night it’s even more magic you can see the Milky Way. We felt like a hobbit ! Sebastian was really welcoming. We recommend 100 %! And we will be back. Many thanks !

Nature Lovers Paradise to relax in a unique one of a kind experience. Quirky, homely and hobbit like touches makes this place magical. With all the modern amenities, a gorgeous indoor bathroom or use the outdoor shower with a view of the Hills. The property is surrounded by rolling hills, fruit and vegetable gardens. I ate the Fresh grapes and cherry tomato growing alongside my cabin. Sebastian the owner makes an excellent home made pizza from scratch. A unique one of a kind stay with modern comforts while taking in the natural beauty of this region . I highly recommend this place as there is nothing else like it. 2nd time here for us and hopefully will be a 3rd.

A quirky place to stay and there are two cabins to choose from, one facing West the other East. Remarkably there is plenty of room inside and the owners have finished off the interior really well. I am over 6 feet tall and there was decent headroom as well as a good size bed. Definitely worth a nights stay, be aware that both cabins share a fabulous bathroom. Enjoy.....
