This place was just amazing! Having not stayed at many B and B's we were wary, but Paulette and John had covered EVERY detail.
Privacy when we wanted it, with separate lounge, kitchen, rooms very generous.

Immaculate presentation with everything you could need....beautifully decorated, and a pleasure to be there.

We felt incredibly welcomed, and John and Paulettes knowledge of the area helped us decide what to do.

Best continental breakfast EVER - with scrumptious home cooking (cakes , muffind and bikkies), home grown fruit and nothing spared. Such a treat!!!

Great little walks around, and nice being a little bit out of town.....THANK YOU

Amazing accommodation and such helpful and friendly hosts. Nothing was too difficult for Paulette and John who ensured we made the most of our 3 day stay there. Wonderful buffet breakfasts. We could not have wished for a better place to stay.

Hello Alan and Kate, So sorry for the delay in responding to your review. I have only just realised you had submitted one. We are so delighted to hear that you enjoyed you stay with us. We also enjoyed your company - it was so lovely to meet you and have you stay with us for 3 days. We trust the rest of your trip in NZ went well. What a terrible time we are all having at the moment. It must be nice to know that you managed to get your trip done in safety before the world went mad. We are both well and keeping pretty much to ourselves and will continue to do so until the virus is beaten. The UK is suffering badly and we trust you are both well and keeping yourselves safe. We have heard from other guests and friends in the UK and it is sad to hear how worried everyone is. NZ acted pretty quickly and we have had very few cases and deaths. We are all hoping people here don't get complacent too soon and undo all the good that has been done so far. Thanks again for taking the time to give a review. It was lovely to read that you had a good time here. Keep safe - keep well! Kindest regards, Paulette & John

Surprised, because I have never considered staying at a Homestay B &B.

Paulette and John have certainly changed my thinking on that one!!!

All the previous reviews have covered it all.

Beautiful rooms.
Fantastic Breakfasts.
Complimentary Wine.
Good recommendations.
Great Hosts.

And the list goes on.

Once again thanks to the both of you for a very pleasant stay.
Will not forget it soon.
Don't forget to visit when you come to Auckland

Sadly for us, my husband and I only had 2 nights in Paulette and John's beautiful home. We were blown away by the quality of the accommodation (inc excellent breakfast and snacks) and their wonderful hospitality - it was a joy to stay with them. Their recommendations and help booking a restaurant were much appreciated. The rooms are simply gorgeous - they have thought of everything. On the first evening we sat on our terrace sipping a glass of complimentary wine and congratulated ourselves on finding this amazing B&B. Many thanks both and by the way, we did get to the WW1 aircraft museum before heading to Picton for the ferry - well worth the visit - another great recommendation.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write this lovely review. Is was so nice to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us and glad you did manage to fit in the visit to the Aviation Museum. John and I trust you are both well and are keeping safe during these unsettling times. It will be some time before overseas travel is back on the agenda so we hope your memories of your holiday in NZ compensate a little. You must be so glad you travelled out here when you did. Take care and look after each other. With fond memories, Paulette & John

It was our first time staying at a B&B and we couldn't of have loved it more!! Paulette and John were the best hosts ever. They helped us with our luggage, had our room impeccable and gave us great tips of the tours we should take around the Blenheim/Marlborough area. The room includes a private bedroom/bathroom, and living room, and kitchenette. We just used one bedroom but they have two that share the living room area. If you plan to visit with a group of friends, it also works. They will only accept other guests in the second room at the same time if they are part of the same group. It is a brand new house, beautiful and perfectly located, just minutes away from the vineyards/wineries. Paulette takes time to make sure everything is perfect, comfortable and personalized to your needs and likes. She made us the best breakfasts we had in all of NZ. If you want to feel home away from home, this is the place; my husband and I joked that it was better than home! If you are like us and haven't stayed in a B&B and are hesitant because you like your privacy, you will not be dissapointed if you stay here. They respect and understand the privacy their guests want, you even have your own door to go in and out of the house. There aren't many hotels in the area and don't think any will top this B&B. Definitely one of the best experiences we had in NZ. Thank you Paulette and John, we hope to come back soon!

Thank you Daniella and Daniel for this wonderful review. We appreciate your taking the time to do this. We were honoured to be the hosts of 'first time ever' B&B Guests and are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay at Stonehaven as you said you had no idea what to expect!! We are so pleased that your introduction to this type of accommodation surpassed your expectations. We enjoyed your company very much and miss your smiling faces! Its guests such as yourselves that make hosting such a delight. So sorry to hear of the terrible things happening in your beautiful home country Daniella and hope that the problems there are resolved soon. At least we know the two of you are safe in Florida. We hope the rest of your holiday in NZ continued to delight you in unexpected ways and that your trip home was a smooth one. No doubt you are settled back in to the routines of work and dreaming of your next holiday. Take care of each other and continue to enjoy life to the fullest. With happy memories, Paulette and John PS Thank your parents from us, Daniel, for recommending you try a B&B for a change!

Hands down the best place we stayed in all of New Zealand! After 2 weeks up North, we were greeted by such generous and friendly hosts beyond any expectations. The accommodations were impeccable and private to whatever degree needed. The food was lovingly prepared and delivered to your space for your own timely eating. The attention to detail as the bowl of fresh fruit and fresh flowers were so appreciated, especially after two weeks on the road.

Paulette and John are special people who love the region and they offered us some great suggestions to enhance our journey. We were able to tailor our short stay there with meeting a few local artists, and enjoying some remarkable wines and delicious food. Their generous and welcoming nature left a wonderful memory of New Zealand that will be with us for a long time.

My husband and I traveled from San Francisco to New Zealand for our honeymoon and we loved every moment of it! When picking our destinations we new we wanted to be in Marlborough and taste all the wine. Our travel agent Flymetotravel gave us a few suggested accommodation's and we were THRILLED with our second stay being at Stonehaven Homestay with Paulette and John in Blenheim. We arrived late at night as we took the ferry from Wellington to Picton and we were greeted with a warm welcome and everything set up for us! The house is incredible and the location is PERFECT! They would have breakfast for us in the fridge and daily baked muffins and breads ready for us everyday. The homemade touches from Paulette were delicious and my husband could not get over the honey and jams left out for us! We would head to the vineyards for a few tastings and lunch then head back to the b&b for some wine and cheese before our dinner reservations. We would sit outside and enjoy the views at all times of the day and night. After dinner we would head back and have an after dinner drink on our little patio and look up at the stars and see the constellations. They were so pleasant to chat with as well, they gave us our space so we never felt like we were intruding but they also gave us great recommendations on where to go eat and see. We would highly recommend even just staying here for a few nights to get away! We would be back for a weekend getaway if it wasn't a 14 hour flight!

Most travellers would imagine that the term B&B means fairly basic accommodation but for a short-term stopover are prepared to forego the luxuries in life. 'Stonehaven' is the exception to the rule and is top end competing on equal terms with the finest of hotels. There are two very comfortable en-suite bedrooms with an adjoining shared aircon lounge and kitchenette plus an outside patio which overlooks a well manicured garden and a Giesen vineyard. A substantial breakfast is provided but you have the flexibility to self cater. Paulette and John are most congenial hosts who up until recently owned the top rated 'Stonehaven Homestay' on Rapaura Road and are very experienced in the art of bonhomie and providing their guests with everything they could wish for. 'Stonehaven' is a veritable haven of peace and tranquillity ...a 'little bit of heaven' which is situated in what must be one the loveliest areas of New Zealand that produces some of the finest wines in the world. You will not be disappointed!

Thank you Duncan and Avril for the lovely review of your stay at our 'new' relocated Bed and Breakfast. It was so lovely to see you both again for a couple of days and to catch up on all your news and travels. We are delighted that you found our new B&B comfortable and to your liking. We look forward to your next stay. Perhaps I should take a little time to explain to potential guests your comment on 'self-catering' here to avoid any misunderstanding. With the kitchenette/dining area only having limited facilities ie microwave, toaster, electric jug, coffee machine actually cooking a complete meal is not possible. However the facilities do allow for pre-made meals etc to be heated and eaten here. I thought I should clarify this to avoid future guests being disappointed if they intended to cook their own meals and then found the facilities were not suitable for that. We appreciate so very much your taking the time to tell other travelers of your stay with us. Until the next time you visit, keep well. With kindest of regards to you both, Paulette & John

Paulette and John are the best of hosts and Stonehaven is, in a word, fantastic! The rooms are comfortable, beautifully decorated and fully appointed with everything you may need or want. The breakfast goes above and beyond and say YES if Paulette offers to make her Bircher, it is delicious (thanks for the recipe Paulette). We enjoyed our 3 week holiday in New Zealand and without a doubt, meeting Paulette and John and staying at Stonehaven was one of the highlights. Thank again Paulette and John!
