Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Hotel was close to all amenities. Staff were very helpful. The reason I have not given it excellent was our room didn’t have a view when we opened our curtains we were looking at a office block 30 yards away so had to keep our curtains closed all the time!! Breakfast was really good and refreshed at regular intervals

Hotel's Favourite
We had a really nice stay at Rydges Wellington. The staff were excellent, very accommodating! The room was a nice size and we had awesome views of the city. Breakfast was amazing as well. We stayed for dinner as well and it was excellent! There was no parking at the hotel as it was full however the hotel gives a discount for parking across the road which is helpful. I’d recommend this place to anyone. Will be back to stay there for sure!

Rydges Wellington is in a great location, just a short walk from the railway station, walks through the wharves, the parliamentary precinct and the northern end of Lambton Quay. The staff were friendly and helpful, the bed very comfortable, and the hotel buffet breakfast excellent. I purposefully booked at a hotel with a kitchenette, given I was staying eight nights, so I was disappointed the kitchen area was not more traveller-friendly. Yes, there were two hot plates, a microwave and refrigerator. But one had to ask for a pot and a pan. There were no dinner plates, no can opener, no sharp knives, no t-towel and no condiments. And the phone in my room did not work (I was told a technician would fix it but five days later, no action or advice).

This is a very smart hotel located on the waterfront in Wellington. The views from our room were great. However the opaque glass wall to the ensuite bathroom is just weird and when the light comes on automatically when you visit the bathroom in the middle of the night - downright annoying! On our second night, we popped a towel over the sensor and had a much better night's sleep.

The hotel entranceway, the bar, the room and view were all of a high standard. Breakfast was also very good, we arrived in Wellington on the Train and were catching the Ferry the following morning so the location was excellent.

The bed was very comfortable. The only thing that I felt you could improve on was increase the amount of milk in the rooms. Breakfast was really good considering how busy they were at the time. Overall, good experiences.

Great service, breakfast, couple’s package was great value. The only downside was the old very noisy aircon ( glad we are only staying 1 night) . No cash hotel so visa and 2% surcharge. Parking unavailable when we arrived so parked in parking building a couple of streets away.

Really wonderful stay, great location and awesome facilities. The swimming pool was a real hit! I loved looking down at the beehive, and being so central. Short walk to lots of shops and places to eat, as well as a beaut walk along the waterfront to Te Papa.
