We booked a 10-bunk dormitory for just one night (thankfully) with friends while we were in Wellington for a sports event. When we checked in the female staff member was rude and abrupt with us and spoke to us like children (I'm a woman in my 40s!). We arrived in the room and in the drawers were old sleeping masks and in one of the lockers (with no lock)was a heap of personal papers and a Macbook computer. On the floor, there was only 1 working toilet (with no toilet paper - I told the staff on the front desk, but came back later and it was still empty - yuk!) and a single shower. Both toilets and showers opposite our room were out of order. One looked like it was being refurbished but work looked like it had been stopped a long time ago with the dust built up. We had to go up one floor to use the bathrooms. The lady at the front desk did not mention this to us upon check-in. When we arrived back in the evening we noticed the locker had been emptied (staff came in while we were out?!). The bunk bed was comfortable enough but creaked every time you turned over. Just one window that had no view (unless you count looking into other dorm rooms a view), and the fan attached to the wall had no way of being plugged in. One flimsy floor fan had no cover on it. The luggage storage was full and messy, as was the 'lounge'. The kitchen was tiny and we were glad we didn't need to use it. The only good thing about the hostel was the location in the middle of Wellington. Overall, I was really disappointed in this hostel and would not recommend it to anyone. Go and stay at the clean and tidy YHA instead!

This hotel and room were absolutely disgusting. From what could only be semen stains on a bedspread that didn't have a cover, to handprints on the wall, to a floor and toilet I didn't want to touch with my bare skin. I checked into the hotel, left for a couple hours to do an online course, and during that time I was dreading returning to the hotel and having to sleep there. I decided to book a different hotel, so I returned, packed my things, and checked out. I was told that no refund can be issued for any of the 3 days that I booked, even though I didn't stay one night. Attached photos show bed, dirty walls, water damage in bathroom, hand prints on walls, dirty counters, something smeared on walls that was maybe wax? Later, a local told me that a lot of the hostels in the area had some serious issues during COVID that resulted in them being disgusting. I'm sorry, and that sucks, but it shouldn't be the customers' problem. I'm thoroughly disgusted by this place. Don't go. Spend the $30 extra a night, or sleep in your car.

The staff were friendly and helpful, but the place is just getting really old. We had to switch rooms because the lock on the dorm room door wasn't working and the closest bath room was closed, so the nearest working bath room was quite far away. Location was great.

The staff (especially bar staff) are great and the location is perfect, but those are the only redeeming qualities of this place. The rooms are absolutely tiny, with nowhere to put any of your things. Our en suite shower was disgustingly clogged, and ALL of the other bathrooms on the first and second floors were out of order. The bunkbeds are incredibly loud, and all the outlets are just shoved in the corner of the room.

The curtains don't quite fit the windows so if you need any darkness, bring your eye patches! Also, the construction site across the street ramps up very very early so earplugs wouldn’t go astray. Looking online, I found the hostel/room for $95 on Hostelworld (but due to circumstances rang to book directly) and upon arrival I was charged $126 at the front desk. Word to the wise…..book online prior to arrival if you want to keep some coin in your pocket! PS. I will for sure need a nap later today. PPS. There is no coffee or tea provided so this has been a LONG morning.

We stayed here in a big group bus booking and were very disappointed with it. We are all backpackers so our standards are not high - yet this hostel managed to be beneath them. Check in took forever, I felt a smoother process should have been organised. We stayed on the third floor, where the room was like a sauna. I feel for anyone staying here during summer months. I felt like I couldn’t breathe as the air was so thick and hot, it made us feel physically sick and we didn’t sleep at all. This was obviously a problem known by the staff, as there was a machine to pump the hot air out into a huge pipe that was balanced out the window but not secured, so it keep falling back into the room and pumping the hot air back in. Also the bathrooms were not okay - there were only 3 toilets for everyone on floor 3 (a LOT of people), one of which didn’t even have a lock on it. I do not recommend this hostel, stay somewhere else!!!

Stayed here for one night as part of the organized tour. Not really a lodge person but usually a hotel person. But the tour organized it. It is for sure the most favorable hostel among the entire tour. Location is extremely central with easy walk to everything. Room is very spacious with en suite which gives me quiet a bit of relief at the end of the tour as there was not en suite in previous days and I had to share with others. Chocolate on arrival in your room. Kitchen is the lag though given they don’t offer tea and coffee. Other than that it is all good. You are only paying this much and should know what to expect.

Booked this because there wS absolutely no alternative available, $195 for a double room in a backpackers is not what we would expect to pay. Room was adequate, unfortunately kitchen was filthy, sides dirty, smelt, microwave disgusting. No tea or coffee available. We stay in lots of backpackers so are not unrealistic in expectations but this really was a disappointment.

Dirty bathrooms and showers with many bathrooms in poor working conditions. Incredibly poor cleanliness in most communal areas including kitchen. Breakfast is disappointing with mould found on the pastry. This has ruined my experience in Wellington as I had food poisoning after the breakfast. Staffs in general doesn't seem to care about the mismanagement of the hostel. Shocking that they are allow to run the hostel with no hygiene standards.

Unbelievable front of house staff who encouraged conversations and offered personal recommendations. Property was in a great location, walkable to the Cable Car Station, waterfront and Te Papa Museum (which I highly recommend). We had an ensuite room which was basic but clean. It did however face onto a construction site which started about 7.30am. Might be worth giving guests advance warning so they can perhaps select another option. While there is a great kitchen on the ground floor, it would be lovely to have tea making facilities in the ensuite rooms. Nice bar next door with a happy hour and serves food.
