Detailed Reviews
Nomads Wellington is in a good location near Cuba street which has lots of restaurants and brunch spots. Downstairs, there is a spacious reception with (slow) free WiFi access (note, you gave to pay an additional fee for WiFi in the rooms). There is also free tea and coffee. The rooms themselves are basic, but fine. What let’s this hostel down is the kitchen - it was an absolute tip both times I stayed there with horrible sticky surfaces. I get this is a reflection of guests not clearing up after themselves, but I didn’t have this issue in any of the other hotels that I stayed in.

The intercity bus will stop at the Interislander shuttle bus station (for those would take the ferry to North island, just wait there).
I took about 20 minutes to walk to the hostel. The reception emphasis that only 2pm allow to check in.
The location is good, near to the Wellington cable car, grocery shop and other shop. Besides that, Museum Wellington, Water front, most of the places is walking distance.
The room is clean and same goes to the shower room. Every morning they provide pancake and sources for free, I can make it for my breakfast. In the evening, you can take a voucher at the reception to have some free food beside the shop.

This is a very nice hostel. I choose the female only dorm with its own ensuite. The pancake breakfasts, tea and coffee, and light evening meals are all complimentary. The common room lounge area is great for wanting movies and TV on a wall mounted big flat screen television. There is a nice outdoor area off the kitchen dining which is nice on hot days to eat lunch. The hostel is not far from key places to visit around the CBD. Highly recommend.

The room was dirty. The bedding, towels and bath mat were all stained and gross. There was rubbish on the floor under the beds.
I paid $12 for wifi (paying $75 per night you would expect wifi to be included!) and even the paid wifi didn't work. Pathetic.
Staff walked INTO MY ROOM UNANNOUNCED in the morning before realising I was there. I waited half an hour to check in and when it hit 2pm the counter girl disappeared for ten minutes and didn't even acknowledge I was waiting when she came back.
There are gaps in the windows and all the noise from the streets comes through clearly so I had two terrible nights' sleep. The duvet was like a $10 blanket from the warehouse so I was cold too.
You completely ruined my stay in Wellington and you should be ashamed.

Unbelievable front of house staff who encouraged conversations and offered personal recommendations.
Property was in a great location, walkable to the Cable Car Station, waterfront and Te Papa Museum (which I highly recommend). We had an ensuite room which was basic but clean. It did however face onto a construction site which started about 7.30am. Might be worth giving guests advance warning so they can perhaps select another option.
While there is a great kitchen on the ground floor, it would be lovely to have tea making facilities in the ensuite rooms. Nice bar next door with a happy hour and serves food.

The location is great, but there are plenty of other places to stay nearby that are better value. Beds were clean and security was good.
Bar next door BLASTS terrible 90’s music until midnight or later. WiFi doesn’t work- even if you pay for “high speed internet”.
Kitchen was filthy and birds were flying in and out.
I stayed 2 nights but wish I left after night one. I’d pay the extra $5 for another place next time, no question.

Booked this because there wS absolutely no alternative available, $195 for a double room in a backpackers is not what we would expect to pay. Room was adequate, unfortunately kitchen was filthy, sides dirty, smelt, microwave disgusting. No tea or coffee available. We stay in lots of backpackers so are not unrealistic in expectations but this really was a disappointment.

The staff (especially bar staff) are great and the location is perfect, but those are the only redeeming qualities of this place. The rooms are absolutely tiny, with nowhere to put any of your things. Our en suite shower was disgustingly clogged, and ALL of the other bathrooms on the first and second floors were out of order. The bunkbeds are incredibly loud, and all the outlets are just shoved in the corner of the room.

Extremely rude lady on the front desk, noisy gross room. Towels/Shower floor mat was absolutely horrid, luckily we brought our own towels. Please take your money and go stay somewhere else, not worth it.

The staff were friendly and helpful, but the place is just getting really old. We had to switch rooms because the lock on the dorm room door wasn't working and the closest bath room was closed, so the nearest working bath room was quite far away. Location was great.

There’s a disability access to enter the building but you may just need to notify reception before you can get in as it is also connected to the bar
There is nearby parking in parking buildings but its quite expensive per hour. I parked on my previous visit along the waterfront about 20-25 minutes walk away from Nomads. I just kept driving round the waterfront until the yellow 'no parking' lines stopped and parked there. I think there is free parking on the street by Nomads but its between certain hours and I knew the hours stopped before Id be ready to leave. Phone the Nomads staff - they're usually pretty helpful I've found - they could give you the actual hours and maybe an idea of the parking charges.
Hi Carmen
Thanks very much for getting in touch. The female dorms are situated on the first floor but we would be happy to try to put you in one that is furthest from the bar. Alternatively we have mixed 4 bed dorms with ensuites on the first and second floors which are a little further away from the bar. It is possible that we can juggle one of these around to ensure that you are just sharing with other girls. We also have standard and deluxe double rooms on the second and third floors if you would like more privacy. I hope this helps, feel free to give us a call anytime and we will do all we can to assist you. Kate, Hostel Manager.
Hi there, sorry for the delay in coming back to you. Check in is anytime from 2pm and check out is 10am. If you arrive earlier that 2pm you are more than welcome to store your luggage free of charge, help yourself to tea and coffee and relax in the lounge or just head out and explore the city and come back at a time that suits you. Our reception is open 24 hours so should make it nice and easy. Thanks. Kate, Hostel Manager.
