We stayed at this B and B on our way from NZ to Hong Kong. We chose it because of its location by the beach and 6 mins. away from the airport. It is a beautiful house full of character, a real home from home in a peaceful location, perfect for anyone who wants a rest after a hectic touring holiday. There are steps up to the house but we managed to carry 2 fairly heavy cases with no problem. The hosts are welcoming without being overly gushing. We were sorry to have to leave so very early in the morning. In hindsight we should have stayed for 2 or 3 nights. I recommend this establishment for anyone who wishes to stay in a quiet, beautiful part of Wellington.

My husband and I had a great stay at this lovely and charming B&B in Seatoun near Wellington. The B&B has a lot of charm. The house is more than 100 years old and the owners have maintained it really well keeping its original style intact.
Our room had a fantastic view to the sea/the bay into Wellington. All the rooms (3) actually have a sea view. Our room was beautifully decorated. Our breakfast was delicious, Craig is a very good cook.
We can definitely recommend this B&B

Located quite far from the city center and right at the beach provided for the quiet atmosphere and the view from the room was amazing. The owners were very nice and friendly and were always up for a chat. Breakfast was delicious and prepared on the spot. Overall it was a very pleasant stay and I would return again.

A little out of the way if you are driving north from the ferry. The B&B is a gracious old home on the waterfront. Beds were comfortable although street noise was bothersome. Breakfast was a bright spot with a full English breakfast available if asked for. We got the same feeling as other reviewers : that we were intruding on their home.

When we arrived the greeting was scanty and brisk. Only the man spoke to us; the woman was never introduced and showed no interest in us during our stay except to demand that we keep our shoes on in the house and not leave them by the door.
There was no sitting area for guests except in a crowded and uncomfortable room which served as a passageway.
We had booked the most expensive, ensuite room. The other accommodation had even less privacy.
Breakfast was a rushed affair (the woman, whose name we never heard spoken) did not appear. The man did not speak to us when we arrived in the common breakfast area, at one end of the kitchen, so we introduced ourselves to the other guests and made do with what was on the table. Eventually were offered a fried egg. After many of the other guests had finished eating a half-heated offer of croissant was made, but we were just happy to pay up and get out of the unfriendly atmosphere.
We had good experiences in New Zealand; this was not one.

Oh dear, won't be staying here again, and cannot recommend this B&B in Seatoun.

We booked on the basis of it's description and location, should have looked more closely at the reviews. But yerno, I was in a hurry, and accommodation was filling up fast on a busy weekend in Welly which was hosting some big national events.

Unfortunately, our experience appears to have been the same as other recent reviewers. My first impression on arrival, having climbed the steps through the narrow gate to the porch was that it was a little unkempt, with household odds and sods kind of caste aside on the porch. Inside was the same, bit of a cluttered mess, stuffy smell... Ah well, it's somebody's busy home...

It was not a particularly welcome greeting when we arrived, we seemed to be just another "booking", and we carried our luggage up the very narrow stairs to the upper level. We were looking forward to the advertised views of the beach and harbour but unfortunately there was a big tree and power pole bang smack in the view instead. No matter... hopefully other aspects would make up for that.

As other reviewers have mentioned, we were also looking for some area to use as a lounge/sitting/relaxing area, as the room is quite compact. None was offered, and to be honest, I didn't feel comfortable asking, after having to ask where breakfast was to be served (in the family kitchen). When we went to check this out we unfortunately met the 'waspy' wife - as aptly described by another reviewer. No greeting, didn't even look at us, said something in unfriendly tone with her back turned to us, that I couldn't make out. So, we high-tailed it into the city to experience Welly's wonderful hospitality for the rest of the day.

On returning to our accommodation about 10pm there was a strong smell of frying onions in our room which seemed to waft up from the kitchen directly below our room. We shut the toilet window (toilet door could not be shut properly) thinking that was how it was getting in, but the smell persisted through the night and was still strong in the morning. This was MOST unpleasant!

But here's the good - breakfast was plenty and pleasant, cooked by Craig the husband. In conversation with him it becomes apparent that he is the one who wants to do B&B and the wife DOES NOT. So, she is successfully sabotaging it because we will not return and nor can we recommend.

Suggest Craig looks for another business partner...

the day before our stay was booked. We called to advise that we could not make it to Wellington (more than 24 hrs before we would have arrived). He argued with us for quite a long time about trying other ways to make the crossing like leaving our car and flying....rude and ridiculous. Since all ferries were cancelled, we had to scramble to find an available room on South Island for the night. He easily could have rented a room to people likewise stranded on North Island. Instead he charged us for the room in what was likely a violation of NZ EFTPOS laws on storing or accessing credit card information.

Very well positioned about 20 minutes from the airport and right on the shoreline in Seatoun, Wellington. The house is 100 years old and it creaks a bit. Easy parking but lots of steps to negotiate. Our room at the front had good views but was a bit small for two people and two large suitcases. The bathroom had no curtains as the room's elevation meant it wasn't overlooked (but arriving after dark, we didn't know that). There's nowhere close to eat dinner but a walk to Seatoun turned up a gem. Lamb shank, beer and wine is all they sell! The very interesting host made the evening - pity I can't remember its name.

My husband was annoyed about not having his own bath, but the website clearly states it is shared so I can not complain about that. The bathroom is very nice with a heated floor, but super tiny making it impossible for two people to occupy it at the same time. We had no idea what time the person in the adjoining room wanted to shower. Perhaps Jude and Craig could post a small chalkboard on the door for guests to write what time they will be showering.
The room itself was very nice and looked almost as pictured on the website. They had pushed the two twin beds together prior to our arrival, as I had requested a king room if it came available. That worked out just fine, you would never even know it was two twins with king size bedding on it. Overall I have no complaints about the room.
What we thought was strange was the lack of any common space. There was a living room downstairs and a garden, but we were never told we could use any of it. In fact the owners had guests and I felt like I was intruding when I went downstairs to ask about the wifi. The wifi was not working with the first 2 passwords they gave me. Eventually we got the correct password. They also said we could use the refrigerator but when my husband went to put something in it, it was full. Craig tried to make some room.
The biggest complaint is the bugs, there were tons of flies all over the kitchen, landing all over the breakfast table ( at least a dozen), and right on the food. The walk way up to the hotel must have had a yellow-jacket nest. They were everywhere! The front garden looked rundown and the little table that looks so pretty in the pictures looked dirty, rundown and unwelcoming.

From the moment I was picked up by Jude at Wellington International Airport it could not have been more relaxed break.Jude and Craig were the perfect hosts and the location of the Beachfront Wellington B and B is without peer.I stayed one night, and after a very comfortable sleep, was served a delicious breakfast of bacon and eggs, croissants with homemade marmalade, and fresh espresso coffee to start the day.
Highly recommended for anyone wanting a restful base from which to explore Wellington city and region.
