We stopped in for coffee, because we enjoy the freedom space, rather than being crammed in at some of the coffee shops. The Concierge was excellent, the service in the coffee lounge is not 5 star, it might be COVID related, or maybe IHG are too stingy to pay wages for staff but there were not enough staff (given it was a graduation day). The staff do what they can but 5 Stars it is not. In saying that we'll know what to expect next time!
We waited 30 minutes to get drinks from when we sat down. A waiter spilt a whole glass of wine on a guest at our table, apology was delayed in coming and then on paying a different server debated what the manager had promised the person in our group and got quite aggressive. Service was slow, we had to request tea refills at high tea. Scone was hard with no flavor, the sandwich bread was already starting to harden. Very average with poor service, plenty of other places with better high tea in Wellington.
I'm nearing the end of my stay at the InterContinental Wellington and have had a grand stay. From check-in to check-out, the staff have been courteous and helpful. My InterContinental Ambassador status was recognized at check-in, leading to an upgrade to a premium room. The hotel is located in the heart of the city's Central Business District, just steps away from a variety of bars, cafes, restaurants, and shops. I'd like to recognize the exceptional service provided by Shannon at the Concierge Desk. I accidentally left an item at Wellington Airport and recognized my carelessness upon arrival at the hotel. Shannon graciously reached out to both the taxi company and Wellington Airport officials, the latter whom located the item, and arranged to have it delivered to the hotel within several hours. Thank you, Shannon, for personifying the best of customer service. I look forward to staying at the InterContinental Wellington during a future visit!…
Stayed in a twin club room (NZD $484.20 a night). The room was clean and tidy, beds were comfortable, bathroom was nice, although no bathtub. Nespresso type machine in the room which was great. Location of the hotel is excellent. We used the indoor swimming pool which is on the 3rd floor, lovely and warm and there is a separate room for a hot tub and also a sauna which wasn’t working when we went to use it. They also had a small gym and the changing rooms are currently under renovation, but I would say the whole area is looking a bit tired. The club lounge is lovely and overlooks the sea and the city, we had great service from Lucas & Dominique. However, I was a little bit disappointed that you couldn’t help yourself to drinks during the day, it seemed there had to be served, we had afternoon tea, a bit heavy on the sweets but still lovely, again served. I was given a pamphlet of the opening hours of each facility and the club lounge was meant to be open from 6.30am, went down to get a coffee first thing and also wanted to use the computer but it was shut, so gave it another hour and still shut? No mention of this on the info they gave me. Club lounge wasn’t open for breakfast so we had breakfast downstairs (buffet), which again was lovely, lots of choices. Would I stay here again? Probably not. Normally I would recommend the club lounge but this time I don’t think it was worth the extra dollars compared to other 5 star hotels I have been to …
So unimpressed with the quality of customer service from the front desk team. Probably wouldn't stay there again. I am not sure what the front office manager is training his or her staff but such poor conversation and shocking questions. Please leave this of your stay list unless you are a business man or woman with a suit may be then you might get some service based on your appearance.
Hotel was wonderful and location was so perfect. Quick checkin and even room service was quick. Room was awesome with a beautiful city street view. Emenities were provided. Staff were very friendly from reception to restaurant. We met a Nepalese room service guy Uday. He was good too. Got less time to talk with him as we were busy on our stuff. Overall the stay was fabolous. Breakfast can have more items included but it was good enough. Checkout was quick as well and conceirg were friendly too. Thank you for your hospitality Intercontinental Wellington.
Beautiful hotel, lived up to all expectations! We paid for a room with a view of the harbor and it was gorgeous. Staff were incredibly nice. Breakfast was amazing! Also enjoyed an excellent gin and tonic at the bar. Easy walk to everything. Bed insanely comfortable. Nice gym. Fantastic stay.
Stopped in for 3 nights at the Intercontinental, met expectations. Nice 4+ star hotel as goid as anywhere else in the world. Wanted some where close to TSB arean, across the road so perfect if from outta town and attending an event there. Nice parking bay and entry foyer, good service desk staff. Was met by concierge for our baggage- nice touch. Easy checkin. Nice sized room with a view, even from the shower or loo if you want . 6th floor Very comfortable bed and pillows, both enjoyed our sleep ins. Great room extras, nice to have espresso machine in room. Only negative about room - would have been nice to have fresh milk as opposed to uht milk capsules. Good gym snd pool facility. Great location to everything, made walking around very easy to get to. Nice buffet breakfast selection. Overall an enjoyable 3 night stay and next time in Wellington would be more than happy to stay again. Recommend if you can afford to…
Easy access to Wellington waterfront and Lambton Quay, this hotel is in a great location. We opted for breakfast and were very impressed with the range and quality on offer. Having specifically requested a quiet room, we were disappointed to be allocated a room immediately opposite the lift and with a connecting door – both giving rise to unwanted noise. The room itself was well provisioned with products you'd expect to find in a 5-star hotel but the decor was tired and in need of refurbishment... and indeed renovation work was going on around the hotel, providing more noise. Had we known this at the time of booking, we would have chosen a different hotel. Generally, the service was attentive, however, an excessive wait time for a bar snack was a disappointment. Overall, an okay experience, but not quite the 5-star experience that we'd hoped for. We may return once the renovation work is fully completed.…
We stayed as a couple and having stayed at other Intercontinentals, knew what to expect. The room was great – could not fault it – bed was amazing. However what was the big letdown, was staff – the front reception woman appeared disinterested, barely polite with no eye contact or welcome and only spoke to give her what she needed to check in. the concierge people looked away every time we walked passed also??. Staff are what make or break stays for people - and other than the breakfast wait staff girl, who was lovely, those on front of house were quite dismissive in their attitude to customers unfortunately. We are always polite and cheerful so we’re a bit taken aback at their attitudes to guests. This really changes the atmosphere, which is a pity as it is a lovely hotel otherwise.. some work to do I. Staff training.…
