Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Entrance very elegant rooms mediocre. Had issues with our booking not being as requested yet confirmed. Requested twin room with extra single for three ladies. It was double with single bed but even still they supplied towels for two, cups for two so had to keep ringing down for extras, requested a view and got scaffolding in an alley. Even after checking in they confirmed three beds. In saying that the staff were nice and the dining experience was great and the location excellent. Would I stay here again, it would have to be extra special price.

Thank you very much for taking the time to leave your feedback. We are sorry to hear the amenities in the room were not enough 3 people - this has been passed on to our Front Office & Housekeeping departments in order to improve our service. It is otherwise great to read that our friendly staff helped to make it a good stay. We do hope to welcome you back to the hotel in the future and hope to improve on your first experience.

My steak was cold and had to be returned to the kitchen; we paid for dinner with cash but a staff member from the restaurant came into the bar, where we were entertaining friends, and loudly announced “ your dinner payment didn’t go through” no apologies from them for getting it wrong; the bed was hard as a brick; and we were woken up at 3am by noisey bin trucks crashing around, banging bins, men yelling to each other for an hour! We moved hotels the next morning.

An easy friendly check in with staff who went out of their way to help. A well set up & clean room that was value for money paid. What a great location for exploring Wellington. Close to a variety of restaurants and bars and shops that are within walking distance. Paid on site parking is available & the hotel restaurant was very good. Would return.

Continental Breakfast was a lovely mixture of pastries, scones, cereals and fruit. A lovely selection of breakfast fruits! Parking was outside the hotel at the nearby parking building. The hotel was able to accommodate some e-bikes in locked storage which we were most grateful for. Rooms were satisfactory in all areas - bathroom, bed and tea, coffee. The location for our weekend activities was outstanding as we talked the waterfront, attended theatre, did a parliamentary tour and other attractions like cable car and botanical gardens. An easy walk to all areas.

Great location, staff and service. Rooms clean and well apportioned. Hotel management need to address local council over surrounding street dwelling issues, people living rough on the streets need to be moved on, downtown Wellington is not nice during the day, even worse after dark. Wellington Council need to pass bylaws and police need to enforce, after all the hotel is a big rate paying revenue gathering machine for the city

Very central with the I-Site literally just on the next street and you can walk to the main shopping area and cable car station. Staff very friendly and efficient. Booked me a taxi to go to Zealandia at night and it arrived promptly.

The stuffiest room i have stayed in. No aircon, old TV, short persons shower. No tea/coffee, a rabbit warren of hallways trying to find the room and lots of untrained junior staff. Street noise or seagulls squawking will wake you up. But even not even a fan in the room meant it was like a hot house 24/7. Never again

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. Air conditioning is something the hotel is currently looking at, but I cannot confirm when it would happen. In the meantime, during warmer periods, we endeavor to do everything we can to make our guests comfortable and a fan would have been available to you, either already in the room, or by speaking with reception. All rooms also have tea/coffee-making facilities and more are available from reception. We are currently training new staff members across all departments and unfortunately, this can mean some delays are experienced. We are a mid-range value-for-money property in the heart of the city and your comments help us to improve our service. Sorry we were not the style of accommodation you were after.

Clean but basic rooms....but no air con... Staff on checkin possibly still training....this took an age....however when an issue arose the next day we couldnt be more complimentary about those we dealt with and their care. Went to have a nightcap, ordered and was given our drinks ....but they were undrinkable as the soft drink mixers were flat. Complained and staff said yes they knew that it was all flat but didnt know how to fix...been like it all day.....no solution forthcoming so we opted for a juice and asked for a can of coke as the mixer instead....disappointing. Great location however.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review after your stay with us. We are sorry to hear that the check-in process took longer than expected, we are currently training new staff members across all departments and unfortunately, this can mean some delays. It is good to hear that you received a high level of service from other staff members. We would also like to apologize for the soft drinks, unfortunately, this was an issue that the staff were unable to fix themselves and has since been followed up on. We’re glad there were alternatives available. We are very lucky to have such a central location! We hope to welcome you back to the hotel again.

The staff were all great to deal with. One particular staff member was very nice and helpful! He served in the restaurant and bar, very welcoming and bubbly! The manager was also nice and helpful dealing with our change of room on the second night of our stay - as we didn't have much much space for 3 adults in the twin room (3 single beds). It didn't have a kitchenette, but was good if you just needed a bed to sleep in. They changed us to another room with bigger space and went the extra mile for that so that was lovely. I think they should consider air con for their customers in the summer due to the humid heat. The fan was ok to have when in bed. Very close to food shops, and shopping, and bars etc. Overall, great customer service and looked after for our needs. Thanks so much to Kathryn and Nat as they both were very chatty and could hold a great conversation! Beds were comfy, and room service was fast and efficient.

Great location, very basic room and it didn’t feel the cleanest (wasn’t terrible but one of the pillow cases had scuffs on it and bathroom felt like it needed another wipe down) but would stay here again. Friendly staff, easy check in and out and very central to everything. It’s value for money and you can’t beat the location.
